Price Drop? hell no... considering we already have the 40GB no BC at $400 and the 80GB at $500, drops that occured like in the last month, we probably won't be seeing another price drop till next year

Decent sales... probably nothing coming directly from Sony... it's something you'll have to keep looking to your local retailers on.

I really like the 2.00, browser runs a hell lot faster than it did before - love the Nature theme.

Currently downloading the Uncharted demo at the moment, I'll be editing here what I think about it.

Edit;
~Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Demo Impressions~
I though the gameplay was going to be just a normal plain Tomb Raider ripoff, but how wrong I was after playing the demo. The shooting is smooth and easy to use, the AI is a lot smarter than I though they'd be(played on Normal & Hard only). Theres absolutely no map or anything with you during the demo, so I had to look around everywhere until I could find a hint to lead the path(yeah I explore). The game looks beautiful on an HDTV, the animation looks great - Nathan Drake's scream reminds me of Crash a lot. This will most likely be the PlayStation 3's Game Of the Year. I am so getting this on Nov 19th.

One last question. It's okay to go for the 40GB, right? There's no difference other then the space available, and the BC? I have a ps2, don't plan on ditching it, and won't play many ps2 games... sooo... and I play maybe 1-3 games at a time, often only one. I don't need huge space. There's no difference in the power of playing PS3 and Blu-Ray discs? No other features that are stripped?

Yes, if you do not care of the BC for PS1/PS2.

There's no difference other then the space available, and the BC?
This is the difference, not much if you just want the PlayStation 3 for Blu-Ray Disc Films/Anime and of course PlayStation 3 games.

There's no difference in the power of playing PS3 and Blu-Ray discs?
Not that I know of, so it's a no.

Thanks for the response. What does the PS3 use that would require a USB port? I wish that 20GB model was still available, for a cheap price, haha.

Glad the Uncharted demo was a blast.

The game definitely looks to be one of the best this year, maybe of the last few years as well. The graphics are really underrated. Too many games are going for the whole black and white/sepia war tones. Glad to see some color once in a while.

Charging the controller for one thing. Although any powered USB port will also do that (I've used my PC to recharge it before). The memory card adapter is also connected through USB (but since the 40GB is crappy for PS1/PS2 BC anyway, that's a moot point) and other memory devices.

Btw, as far as I understand the 40GB model has less USB ports, but it still has some (2 I think).

To sum it up the 40GB model should be fine for the following things:
- Playing PS3 games and anything PS3 related (Playstation network, demos etc, etc)
- Playing Blu-ray discs
- Playing nicely upscaled DVDs (which is useful if your old DVD player doesn't produce a nice picture on your HDTV if you have one)

Indeed, 40gb has 2.

USB is required for any wireless (non bluetooth) peripherals.
I'm really not sure why Sony decided to downsize the number of USB ports, because this could be quite detrimental for future releases. Good thing Rock Band, for one, is using wireless!

Another biggie you'll be seeing bluetooth for is Mouse/Keyboard support. UT3, for example, will support it on the PS3. I assume the EyeToy does as well.

From what I see on wiki the 40 gb ps3 doesn't have SACD playback. Is that important? What does it do? I also heard that the hardware in the 40 gb on was cheaper(doesn't last long) then the 80 gb ps3. So does that mean the 40gb ps3 would break down before a 80gb ps3? Is this true?

Not important unless you are into high quality music or you want an SACD player but don't have one at home.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacd

I have always been wanting to try out some SACDs in the past (spent quite a bit on my audio setup) but just can't be bothered spending money on a separate SACD player. So I was very glad when I knew the PS3 could play SACD. (I have seen people on other forums who aren't going to buy the 40GB version just because they took out SACD playback)

I also noticed that most firmware 2.00 update lists didn't say that it is now possible to output SACD through optical. This is extremely important for people who don't have a receiver that supports HDMI.

Charging controllers, headsets, and if u r like me, the most important thing:

both Guitar hero 3's guitar and Rockband instruments are wireless BUT requires USB receivers, so...need those ports

The 40GB has no problems with PS1 games.

I am saving up for the PS3 as we speak. I just blew most of my savings on a Samsung HDTV. I'll be using the PS3 as a replacement for most of my equipment. I'll have the Wii for, well, Wii-age. Nes, Snes, N64, Gamecube and Wii gaming. And I'll have the PS3 for Playstation 3 games, upconverting SD DVDs, and playing Blu-Ray (which is going to win the format war, I am sure.) Afterwards I'll get a decent 5.1 setup.

we dunno whos gonna win the format race, rite now the price of HD-DVD is slightly lower, so the race is still on.

But ya the PS3 pretty much replace everything u'll ever need in an entertainment set, aside from like the TV and the home theatre system :3

calling out to all fellow Playstationites! I need to add some mates to my mate list to tear it up on CoD4. Somehow on sabotage, ppl think the aim of the game is to run away from our bomb carrier instead of defending him or camping on domination
I would shout abuse at the nubs but I don't have a mic atm, so best I can do is throw a flash bang in their face

anyone want to add me, user name: BontaKun3000

Yes. It's up to the publisher if they want to charge a monthly fee for playing online or not. Probably a few of MMORPG that eventually will come out on the PS3 will do so, but many other games will not.

The only PS3 game I got that has online features is Motorstorm and playing it online is completely free.
