Finally getting my Wii tomorrow! I'll be picking up...

The console itself, bundled with the cables, sensor bar, one remote, one nunchuck and Wii Sports. Also, another Nunchuck along with Wii Play (for the remote, mostly). Also a classic controller and a Wii points card to purchase the browser and Mario 64.

Anything else worth picking up? I'm really not into all those wii-mote attachments like the wheels, swords, and whatnot. Can you find those charging stations in-store (holds two remotes, charges battery packs)?

Also... any notable software for the Wii? I was looking at Orb... was wondering the alternatives or similar "software" to get more function out of the Wii.

So it looks like downloadable games, non VC,
are coming to the wii.
I hope this means an end to half-arsed games being released on disc
and that smaller devs get a chance to demonstrate their ideas to the public.

Is it just me or are N64 games near unplayable on the Wii? Maybe it's the system, the controller, or just the DAMN GAME... but I have never swore so much in my life. Super Mario 64... the controls are impossible, annoying, and... I want to choke a small child. Oh... look, a star! Let's fly over to it with the wing cap. ...

...

...

What? I moved forward...
but...
I'm flying...
northwest?
What?
Okay, let's try forward again.
Down? Why am I flying toward the ground?
Let's go left then, quickly!
HUH??? I'm soaring high up into the sky?
Okay, this is fine... let's try right.
Oh great, now I'm doing loops in the air.
Huh? The star is way over THERE now??? HOW?

BECAUSE OF THE FREAKING CONTROLS THATS HOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And for Zelda. Those damn chickens. The camera angles are just wonderful in that game. WONDERFUL. Pick up a chicken, through it to a ledge, to a higher ledge, to a support beam, and then fly over to a balcony... sounds hard, but not impossible.

I'm picking up the chicken and going over to the ledge and going to ju-... what? WHAT? WHERE AM I??? The camera is glitching left and right rapidly as the chicken head takes up all of the screen. But I can't press any buttons or ELSE I WILL DROP THE CHICKEN AND IT WILL SCATTER HALFWAY THROUGH TOWN!!!

UGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I'm sorry but I am seriously ready to hire an escort, knife her inside, microwave her, then feed her to another hooker, eat her, shit her out (essentially both of them), smear her all over some N64 cartridges and then mail it to that fat bastard Reggie or Ron or whatever his name is.

Haven't d/l'ed these for Wii yet, but I vaguely remember these games being somewhat glitchy on the N64, and default camera angles and control being pretty bad. Zelda OoT and MM seemed better on the Gamecube port than N64, but that might be my preference for the GC controller itself.

The camera angle wasn't that bad on the N64. Besides, you could always change them. Havn't tried it on the GC controller though, I'll have to buy that game again.........

I found out that Smash Bros Brawl will have somthing called Assist Trophies. They work like Pokeballs but they will have Nintendo characters instead of Pokemon. Hammer Bro, Nintendog and Samurai Goro (from F Zero) are confirmed to be AT characters. This game cannot come fast enough.

No clue what you're expecting from this years so called E3.
AFAIK, unlike previous events, this year it is only accessible with invitation,
it is more like a summit for the videogame industrie,
so even if games are playable, it doesn't really matter.
Apart from the press conferences and announcements being held by devs
and publisher, the new e3 fromat doesn't seems to be real interesting,
for consumers.

Sure it matters if a game is playable or not. News of what happens in this E3 will still probably get out to the public, and we'll at least be getting new info on new games or news in general about what's happening in the industry.

For example, IF ssbb were to be playable, we'd at least get some kind of idea of how the different control styles work.

Also, I was fully aware that this coming E3 would be focused for developers and not general public, NO E3s are intended for the general public, despite how it seems, it's a trade show. I also knew that it'd be on a far smaller scale compared the the past E3s.

But anyway, this new Smash Bros, is so highly anticipated, any news on it would be great

I heard about that. I'm not too crazy about the idea, but at least it adds something to the series, although it does seem like they took the idea from Marvel vs. Capcom (or any of the games that preceded M vs. C with the assist system).

It actually contains some new in-game footage,
new aiming cursor, 2 player co-op mode and some new areas
form BH0 (train), BH1 (mansion/lab)and BH2/3 (Raccoon city).
Unfortunately still no (new) Claire model ;_;

You can't go wrong with Intelligent Systems... that's my mantra. Super Paper Mario is hawtness, and I swear to God, if Goddess of Dawn doesn't make it over to the States, I may have to really hurt someone.

I'm not sure how I feel about my Wii right now. It's really pissing me off. It has Wi-Fi, it has these unique controls, and it has a Mii system. But... the console doesn't use any of them to their full potential!!! WHY?! This console could kick some serious ass if it boosted itself up a little. I'm severely disappointed with all the missed-opportunities.

Oh well. I'm digging my Zelda: Ocarina of Time... the Wii is useful in the sense that it can play Nintendo, Super Nintendo, N64, Gamecube and Wii games. I never owned a Nintendo console prior to the Wii before, so I have a giant backlog to catch up with.

And may I just say... Holy HELL... Zelda is a long game.

Well in that case you should get resident evil 4 wii edition.
It is probably besides Zelda, the best single player game out for the Wii.

regarding smash brothers brawl, hopefully we get a release date during the E3 event.
Also, has anyone seen the list of music composers who are making the soundtrack for this game??
its pretty huge and epic! and there's even some samples of what they've created so far in the official page.
I'd say that smash bro. brawl will be one big epic game to be released!

Question about Smash Bros... is it just a fighting game? So many rounds, unlock some characters, that's all? I played the N64 version, and beat it in less then 20 minutes... well, the basic mode. Is all thats left unlocking characters, re-fighting with each character, etc? Or is there a story / adventure mode.

The GameCube version (Super Smash Bros. Melee) has an "adventure mode" (play through and unlock playable characters) and a "challenge mode" (?) (play using specific characters and meet specific victory conditions to unlock new arenas, items, trophies, etc), so I would think the Wii version would at least have those...

It's a multiplayer game, really.
