In the scheme of things so far, we've seen much more interaction between Ezra and Natsu than Ezra and Gray. At the least, Ezra seems more concerned with Natsu's well-being in any given situation than with Gray's.

Exactly. And in this current arc, we've seen that Erza's been a big sis to more than just Natsu and Gray, so the fact that she's especially concerned for Natsu indicates that he's someone very special to her. Otherwise Mashima wouldn't have bothered drawing such interactions.

Although I still think Natsu x Lucy is inevitable, having Erza in the mix will make for some fun chapters.

Very true, I mean, why else would she 'ex-quip' into such a provacative dress to wear to a casino and only after she heard that Natsu and Gray were already there? lol Not that I was complaining when she did, my jaw hit the floor too... She even gave a small blush while thanking him for trying to 'rescue' her from the council trial. lol

Natsu's protecting her (the elder sister) with all the firey ambition of a younger baby brother. And if you've ever dated a girl with a younger brother, you know what I mean - sometimes they are more of an obstacle than even her father.

We know that Gerald was her first crush/love...and she was ready to die with him so it's not like Natsu is on that level with him in her heart. All this time, she's been chained to the past but as it stands, it seems that Natsu is the one to break those chains on her (fingers crossed).

Natsu, having won the fight, collapsed from exhaustion. The crystal tower, heavily damaged from the fight, became unstable and started to leak the energy stored from Etherion. It was only a matter of time before a catastrophic explosion occur. Erza, realizing that there was no way to defend or escape from the imminent explosion, decided that there was only one thing left she can do: that was to merge with the crystal tower to control the magical energy from within. She placed her hand on the wall of the tower and was slowly being absorbed inside. At this point, Natsu regained consciousness. After some parting words to him, Erza threw herself into the tower. The magical energy spiralled upwards towards the sky and dissipated.

Ye i just checked the raws myself even though i don't understand a bit. This is reeeally bad, Mashima's not going to let my favorite FT character disappear just like that is he? Will i even bother reading it any further if there's no hope for her reappearance? Well, we better not jump to conclusions. Anyway Mashima better pull off a nice and happy ch100.

Well i still have hope this is not the end for Erza, the last page includes a rethorical question whether it's really over or not next to the announcement of a special next issue (Mashima can't let one of the most popular characters die like that in ch100 even if it was made up pretty good drama and plot wise, right ). Another thing that came to my mind is that since she fused with the 'lachryma' isn't she reviving Zeref along the way as Gerard had planned all the time? Arrgh, rarely am i this anxious about an upcoming chapter but this cliffhanger is killing me

Exactly, there shouldn't be a difference, it's just the question whether the destroyed tower can still be used to revive Zeref or if the 'lachryma' is just a leftover and therefor an element of storytelling so Erza 'can' sacrifice herself to save her nakama without further consequences (as if it wasn't bad enough). I also fear another third outcome: Erza posessed by Zerefs spirit (even though they talked about sacrifice all the time) creating a boss villain (boooooring) with Natsu and the gang trying to free Erza from his control over countless arcs... aaah the nightmare, let's hope i'm totally wrong.

I'm hoping Mashima isn't offing one of the most popular FT characters... but if you think about it, this had to happen. For those who've seen TTGL, in order for Simon to become stronger, you-know-what happens to Kamina, and I know he was extremely well liked. The same thing's happening here- Erza has stated that Natsu has the capablity to become stronger, and there's only one way in which he becomes stronger, i.e. when he loses those who are close to him.

However, I'm hoping that Erza isn't gone for good... but we'll have to wait a few days to find out the answer. If she is, then it's a case of '...fuck.'. But I also admit, I just don't see any way of actually bringing her back(which REALLY sucks)
