A number of new Yaoi/BL series

Introducing the series participating in this lil yaoi craze...

Ikoku Irokoi Romantan - Series by Ayano Yamane.

'Ranmaru and Kaoru are honeymooning in Italy to celebrate their arranged marriage. They try to put on a good face in public for the good of their yakuza families, but they really make each other miserable. Kaoru-chan is looking forward to cruising for hot Italian guys, but high-tempered Ranmaru ends up landing the hottest Italian guy of them all; the captain of their cruise ship, who happens to have a Japanese fetish. Well, someone has to protect Ranmaru from all the crazy gaijin...' - Summary credits to Aqua House.

I would've posted the manga cover, but I'm afraid it may be too scandalous to some forumers. Let's hope, with the animating of Romantan, it'll pave way for Yamane's main baby, Viewfinder.

Kirei Papa - Series by Takagi Ryou.

'Extremely young daddy Chisato is so over-protective of his son that he wants nothing more than to spirit away his son's friends (predators), usually by poisoning them. There was one guy who always seem to be ahead of Chisato by one step - and the fact that he's not interested in the son, but Chisato himself, may very well work to his advantage.' ( )

Cover here.

Okane ga Nai - Series by Kousaka Tohru.

'Okane Ga Nai is a story that asks the simple question: if someone dear to you was in debt, just what would you do to pay it back? Ayase Yukiya, in order to pay off his dear cousin's debt, sold his body at an action for well over $120 mil. And who bought him? Somoku Kanou, a man that runs a huge (and rather rich) company and buys Ayase, seemingly familiar with the young man. But now that means Ayase is indebted to Kanou and knows no way to pay for it. Kanou offers a way: everytime Ayase sleeps with him, he'll take off a chunk of the debt owed to him. At first it's horrible to Ayase and the thought of sleeping with a man scares him to no end, but as the pair shares, their love grows and soon blossoms into something else...' - Summary credits to Minitokyo.

Winter Cicada - series by Youka Nitta

Should mention that this isn't Haru wo Daideita, but an actual movie of the film that both Iwaki and Katou played. So you're watching an anime based on that movie in Haru. 8D Due to come out next year. Couldn't find a summary but...

'The relationship between the two is less physical, but more spiritual/platonic (at least at the beginning,) which convinced me of their love even more. Haru Daki is a rare piece of work that really made me feel the love. (Most works just keep saying it, but I don't really see it.) The confession, the separation and wait, and the tragic love/ending were all perfectly executed in Winter Cicada. It's a wonderful stand-alone story.' - Opinion credits to kmarcello of Youka Nitta LJ com.

Boku no Pico - Released.

It's shota porn.

*NEW* Saigo no Doa wo Shimero - series by Yamada Yugi

From DMP: 'What would you do if your crush of many years suddenly got married?! After attending his beloved Saitoh's wedding, broken-hearted Nagai gets a little too drunk for his own good and lands himself in a hotel room with the bride's guest, Honda. To top things off, just when he thought he was getting over things over things he finds out that newlywed Saitoh's bride has run away. What will become of this developing love-triangle?'

Of all the BL manga they could've animated, they pick some of my least favorites? Jeez. Actually, that's not totally fair, since I vaguely remember not hating Kirei Papa... still nothing to get excited about, though.

I'm assuming the series in question happens to be Okane ga Nai, right? (I rather love Ikoku Irokoi Romantan, ah, fun times.)

Yeeeaaah.... IMO Okane ga Nai single-handedly embodies everything that's wrong with most BL manga out there.

I don't feel as much distaste for Romantan because it has some decent humor and stuff, but it doesn't exactly grip me with its emotional sincerity, haha. I will say that it could be great if they got a director who's extremely skilled with visual comedy (i.e. the guy who did Ouran) and a good studio (like BONES or something), but the likelihood of either of those things happening seems extremely slim. Meh.

That's rather extreme, but... I do share your sentiments to an extent. I quit reading it after three volumes, because I couldn't stand how Ayase just wouldn't grow some backbone, and how he looks so ridiculously fragile almost all the time... even the first picture in the official site scared me a little. But it also reminded me why I love a bit of fire and spine in my boys.

That's where Ikoku comes in, it's nothing but sex, and it doesn't pretend to be anything else... ahh, nothing says a good romp like a Yakuza heir who finds his morals thrown out the window by a hot Italian man. 8D

Who knows, with the decisions to animate three big series, maybe it'll pave way for more worthy titles.

On that note, do you know whether these are going to be TV shows or OVAs? (Well, I assume the shota one will be an OVA, haha).

On a more positive note, I'm pretty sure that all three of the non-shota anime will, at the very least, be better than Papa to Kiss in the Dark.

Judging from the number of sex scenes in all the series, there's a very good chance almost all of them will land in OVA format. Of course, they could adapt it into a TV series and release the hardcore in DVD format, but... I don't think it'll work, since 1) most of these series won't work without the sex 2) both J and E fandom will explode if they ever tame it down.

Oh, and there's one more I forgot to add: Youka Nitta's Winter Cicada. Didn't care much for HaruDaki, but I love WC, so... yeah.

Indeed, I never really forgave them for omitting Utsunomiya sempai x Kazu-chan. I tolerated the psuedo!incest anime just for them, and I don't even get crumbs. But look at it on the bright side: it has a neat ED theme. XD

Winter Cicada is being made into a real anime?? (That is awesome, BTW.)

Winter Cicada will supposedly span a total of three volumes (which suggests OVA format). Well, there was a trailer before, but apparently, they've been wanting to see how the first DVD was sold (HaruDaki). Sales must've skyrocketed, since the Winter Cicada project is being given the thumbs up.

Well, you can read about it here (someone confirmed the information with a Gundam director. )

Wow, I had no idea so many BL anime were in the works. I'm guessing they're all gonna be OVAs? A TV series would be nice, but OVA is better than nothing. Though I'd rather have a TV series with more of a plot focus...

I love Haru o Daiteita so this is good news.

And I remember reading Okane ga Nai ... the art was strange but it was an interesting story.

Thank you for posting this! No one ever announces these types of things here....

Holy crap, Yamane Ayano's works in a moving picture..........!! I want to die of happiness~

No problem! Not that I know you do or not, but I know quite a few people who'd rather stay away from a certain forum ( ) because the abusive usage of "!!!!11!" and "^_^" and of course, caps lock abuse, or so I was told, so I thought I'd enlighten some yaoi fans the good news. Glad to know it helped.

Anndddd... I'm 99% sure a TV series wouldn't work with most of the new BL shows. I'm sure you know why. I do share your joy in knowing Ayano Yamane's works adapted into screen though. In fact, I recall someone saying that there are talks of Yamane's Viewfinder series going to be animated. There were mentions of that in Yamane-sensei's blog, but nothing concrete or official. Let's hope.

Geez, no kidding. Saw that and was all "What? That is getting animated?"

I'm guessing the only one I'll bother to watch is Winter Cicada. *shakes head* (we need a head shaking smiley)

Okane ga Nai doesn't seem to be very well-received here. Not that I don't know why, but in contrast to responses from other forums, I thought I was the only one who's not screaming over this news. Although I'm no big fan of the manga, I'd probably still watch it to see if translates well into anime. Knowing me, I'll probably drop it after two episodes, seeing how I hadn't even budged past episode six of Sukisho.

Ah, Kire Papa... I would've taken Oujisama game over this, but let's not be picky. I'd love to see how Takagi's beautiful artwork fits into anime, though.

I've been wanting BL smut to entertain me, ever since Sensitive Pornograph (whatever the reactions, you have to admit, it's really something ) and overall, the line up looks fairly good.

I haaate Okane ga Nai and probably won't watch it since I haaaate Okane ga Nai . Though if they keep the same seiyuu as the drama cds I will be forced to watch just because....

Kirei Papa I like and love the dramas, so I'm looking foward to that. Ikoku Irokoi Romantan is really cute and by Ayano Yamane, so that can only be considered a good thing. Overall, even with Okane ga Nai it's a improvement over the last offerings.

Thanks for the news.

Awww, they always make the obvious into anime..(And I personally hate Okane ga Nai )
I've always thought Nishida Higashi's 願い叶えたまえ (Negai Kanaetamae) will be superb..or maybe something by Fumi Yoshinaga.

The only BL animation(mainstream and underground) I liked was The Legend of the Blue Wolves. They should put the mechs there in Super Robot Wars or something. And turn the whole scenario yaoi.

The short answer is that they don't. And you'll have to tell me what a "shoujo look" is, because I wasn't under the impression that all shoujo manga look the same, either.

Most of it isn't pointy at all... a lot of it looks rounder and more shoujo-like. It's just those types usually aren't as popular and don't get as much attention.
I don't think they all look the same at all. No way that Haru o Daiteita looks like Sukisyo... !
