First episode was great. I agree with a lot of the posts. I felt it reminded me a bit of the 008th team MS, dunno, probably since Pumpkin Scissors is a military unit. I'm sort of skeptical about the show, but it seems very solid. It should be an interesting watch.

Orlan is nutz! Alice <3, I have a feeling she will get some fb attention. She has some serious "Go-Power". Of all the characters, I felt she added a bit of humor to the mix (aside from the doggie that loves skull).

Actually your name is Oland Randel.

Another point you didn't mention is that most Japanese people don't speak German either. It is intended to sound strange to its primary audience. Hence, it should sound strange to an English speaking audience as well. That is just staying true to the author's intention.

I suspect the reason that the show immediately explains the term is for the sake of the Japanese speaking viewers who have no clue what weird word just assaulted their ears.

Ah, so it's not Niino Michi, then?
It sure sounds a lot like her.

I have a feeling that the humor will get better. Maybe.

I am probably the last person here on animesuki to watch this, but yeah, color me interested.

And I didn't find the comedy elements clumsy or out of place.

Look on the bright side - it can hardly get any worse.

Unfortunately not, I checked the cast names in the credits to make sure of that.

It's actually a nice break for all those seriousness, but it's a good thing it's not over the top comedy

It is like you said, comical bits were sprinkled throughout. However, just from watching the first episode, I got the impression that the series will be leaning more toward the serious side. From what I can tell so far, the story doesn't seem like it'll develop into something too much more complex though, but the mood projected in this first should sustain. Or at least I hope it does, because I for one really found the entire setup (both world and background of Pumpkin squad/characters esp. Oland) very intriguing and can't wait for the later central plot development. So yeh, definitely not something like Coyote where you get a random story seemingly out of thin air lol.

I like the name "Pumpkin Scissors"--it made this show stand out from the flood this season (I'm still drowning in the past two season's floods). Even if the anime adaptation doesn't live up to its promise in the first episode, maybe it'll give me incentive to try out the manga.

And maybe the humor was colored by watching this right after D. Gray Man (where I found the humor sticking out like a sore thumb...or worse, completely unintentional), but I thought Pumpkin Scissor's humor was decent--a nice way of keeping things from getting too serious and possibly boring.

I don't dislike the name; it's just very odd. I remember someone saying that it sounded like someone had randomly selected two words from a fifth-grade spelling list.

Subtle humor? Are you kidding?

Well, I don't mind the seriousness and a little complex story...as long as it's not TOO complex...I'm cool with that. But from the looks of it, I'm pretty sure it's not. Then again, I could be wrong.

Indeed, it's literally a flood of new anime this fall! Spending my time around, hunting for new shows to watch is part of the fun... which explains why I'm lurking around here, even though I had never heard of Pumpkin Scissors before this - and yes, it certainly is an 'unique' name. Lol. Like Conri said, the title alone makes it stick out.

I'm just wondering what genres would Pumpkin Scissors fall under? Is it just a war anime, or will there be some subtle developments (character, plot, etc.)? It seems to me, after reading through all the posts and other info, it's essentially about war.
