I don't know what "shut self out" means, but Juuni Kokuki is the best fantasy anime there is.

Some good ones with fantasy elements:
Haibane Renmei - one of my favorite anime
Kamichu! - nice cute/slice-of-life anime
Full Moon wo Sagashite - another one of my favorites
Fruits Basket - good anime... manga is even better
xxxHOLiC - one of my favorite recent anime
Aria the Animation/Aria the Natural - very relaxing... nothing really happens yet still manages to be very entertaining

@Aquillion - I'm not seeing the fantasy in NHK ...well I guess he does live in his own little fantasy world most of the time

Bah, jed got in before me with Haibane Renmei. I'll second it in that case, it's a really nice little series, also one of my (relatively) recent favourites.

I'll also add Fantastic Children

Excellent series, well worth watching. It's fantasy & sci-fi too, you'll see how when you watch it

We joined the forum the same day, have about the same amount of posts, recommend the same anime as a favorite...

Perhaps I should give Fantastic Children more than the 2 minute chance I gave it way back when

Aye, you should It starts out a bit slow and kinda weird, but soon picks up into an awesome watch.

I was going to say that! But that would make you the original, introducing a pshycological issue I am not willing to deal with right now... so let's just call it coincidence

(I happen to be reading a book called "Doppelganger" right now... they just keep piling up! I bet you've got two eyes and 10 toes too, damn you)

So I'm not totally hijacking the thread I will give Lioran special service and make another recommendation!

Mushishi - doesn't have an ongoing story, but each episode is a fulfilling experience

Basically he's saying that it as a "look in the mirror" kind of thing. At least, that's what I got out of it. The suggestion itself was so funny that soda came out of my nose when I read it last night.

Until these last couple of days of suggestion threads I thought a lot of the premise of Welcome to the NHK was somewhat dumb. I guess it's a lot more realistic than I had realized.

Indeed, I was thinking the same thing. He's not really recommending the series based on his descriptions, but so that he can see himself portrayed in an anime.

I dont know about Fantasy, but If you want an anime that Shut your self out I can recommend GTO and Tenshi na konomai.

Well Tenshi na Konomai has Fantasy elements in it, But GTO doesnt. After they ended, I felt like i didnt want to talk any one and i was sad for a while, hoping for second seasons.
