Well... the fact that it's an OVA doesn't mean that it has to be short. Anyhow, if it's a route dedicated to Haruka, I sincerely hope that there won't be an accident. I was pissed at Takayuki during the greater part of KGNE for treating Mitsuki the way he did, so a new setting - including the accident and the 3 years - where he STILL ends up with Haruka... well, I wouldn't want that at all. If the accident never happens, that'll be a completely different story though. I mean, Mitsuki would have to blame herself for hooking them up even though she had feelings for Takayuki prior to that, and it wouldn't really matter that Takayuki had feelings for Mitsuki either, since he truly fell for Haruka shortly after agreeing to date her.

I know that a lot of you won't be sharing my thoughts (I'm thinking about some of the stuff that I wrote earlier) since a majority were rooting for Haruka to begin with (a fact that shocked me tbh). Sure, I thought - during the first episode of KGNE - that Takayuki and Mitsuki belonged together, due to the fact that the chemistry were between them, but after watching the romance between him and Haruka evolve I couldn't help thinking that this was the right way to go. Halfway through the show I was back in Mitsuki's camp though, after witnessing their relationship and how it evolved over the years. Haruka was a major part of his past. Mitsuki were his present and with whom he was sharing his life. The sad part was that Haruka was the one to realize that in the end instead of Takayuki himself. Or well... he did, but only after Haruka mentioned it. Takayuki deserves to be slapped around with a large trout. (I bet all non-mIRC:ers won't understand that saying ^^)

Bah, here I go... rambling on forever. I guess I'm just really happy to see that we'll be getting some new animated material that's still related to the original story. Or perhaps I got that part wrong?

I'm actually quite surprised that they're doing an alt-route to this as opposed to animating Muv-Luv or something.

I'll agree with you on that, I always thought that Takayuki and Mizuki had something going on in the beginning, just looking at the way they acted around each other. I actually feel sorry for Mizuki for all the hostility she's getting. I mean it's so easy to see how much she had to give up just to take care of Takayuki, yet a lot of people just ignore it. It's like, "Oh Mizuki's a b***h cuz she gave up her bright future in swimming just to take care of Takayuki, then she has the nerve to give him affection to help him get over his depression."

My personal opinion is that Takayuki and Mitsuki were made for each other, and Haruka and Akane were much too good for him... but each to his own, I suppose.

IMO, Haruka should be the one getting Takayuki in the end because she's the one who really loved him long before Mitsuki. And who's the one who got Haruka in a comatose state in the first place?

That could be true, but...you may never know exactly who loved him first, only what was portrayed in the series :P

The driver who hit her.

I prefer to blame her weak body, if she was tougher like chuck norris she would've easily been able to dodge the car.

Nice way of putting it. If it wasn't for Mitsuki they wouldn't have gotten together anyway. I myself am a haruka fan, but theres no way of denying the facts.

actually what kind of idiot waits in the middle of the street? (oh wait its haruka we're talking about.) im a mitsuki fan and i think that she and takayuki belonged together.
if you ask me its not fair about people saying how akane should have gotten him when they say mitsuki is stealing him i mean akane didn't even know him until he went out with her sister.

She was on the sidewalk, it's the car that didn't stay on the road. That's sort of an aside, though.

the accident happens no matter what, the storyline came directly from the videogame where you were able to get 14 different endings.

Except for when Age released the Special Fan Disc, which actually changes the way the original story went...

Simply put..

No.

and....

No. You can buy it through various Japanese outlets as long as they ship overseas, however it will not be English and it's becoming increasingly difficult to find the games not used.

Well, nah... the real problem is that they won't make their money back. There just aren't enough people interested in Visual Novels (and in purchasing them) to justify the cost to license, translate and distribute the game here. If it were going to be a money-maker, someone would release it.

A little expansion on what relentless stated...

The effort to income aspect is what is dragging down the thought of licensing the games. First of all, the market outside of Japan for games like this is, well, nill...second, the work behind localizing the entire dialog tree for this game would take several teams months to do...the financial return for this would be almost zero considering the two factors that are currently dominating the established eroge market outside of Japan, piracy and community size.

This doesn't even account for the problem of retail. Right now, all of these titles would be marked from the ESRB (or other rating systems) as AO titles, and there is not one store in the US that sells AO games on their shelves. This leaves them only capable of selling it online, and there are still people who find buying things online not as safe as buying in brick and mortar stores.

So all-in-all, just taking a look at the already localized products, the content that KimiNozo has generally overshadows that of the type of titles localized outside of Japan, basically KimiNozo's content isn't viable in a market where the bulk of people do not want story with their 'porn'.

Yup, exactly. And just to conclude what DarkCntry said (tag-team ), all this begs the question of "how can we change things?" The way isn't that dissimilar to how anime eventually found its rise to popularity overseas; we just need to keep growing in numbers, to keep increasing the clout, influence, and contribution of the fan community (beyond a "download community"), and to keep purchasing the stuff we like (even if it isn't the thing we ultimately want most). In short, even though this will always be a niche market, we need to become a financially viable one. There is hope -- see for example Circus' AX panel -- but it'll be a long, tough road before anime-inspiring story-driven visual novels get released here as a matter of course.

At the moment, it doesn't help that when companies do release decent, story-driven visual novels, they're (by all evidence) still pirated far, far more than they're purchased. People have gotten so accustomed to downloading stuff that they mistakenly believe that there are enough other people buying out there. In this tiny little niche market, there aren't.

Anyway, all that's probably overkill for the question, but part of growing the market is "spreading the word" at every chance you get, so... there you go. That's why no one's selling the Kiminozo game in English, and what you can do to help start swaying the trend.
