What are the top 15-20 anime cons in the US?
Trying to compile a list of anime cons that would be good to go to that are in the US. I've been to the anime-cons.com event page and had a look around before, and I know that JaFax, Youmacon, Acen and Ohayocon are all great cons, but I'm looking for a few others. Anything with 2000+ visitors or more on average with good offerings such as panels and stuff.
Aside from the 4 I listed already, can you guys think of any good shows to go to? I'm looking to put together a list of about 15-20 that I want to look into going to. Distance is no issue, so long as it's either in the US or Canada. IE, no overseas stuff. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks. I'm only asking because the list of cons has nearly doubled since I last checked and I'm not sure which are best to go to.

I just went to CNanime today. Held in Toronto, Ontario (Canada). It's actually called Fan Expo, but it has a bunch of expo's including gaming, sci fi, anime, horror, etc. It's one of the better ones to buy stuff, but only a moderate amount of cosplay there.
Look up CNanime on google to find out more. There's also AnimeCON and Anime North here in T.O. too.

you can try Nekocon this November in Hamton Roads, VA. it's the 2nd fastest growing con in the eastern US. (out grew 2 con center's in 2 years)
Next year in May you can come to Animazement in Durham, NC. they broke their all time attendance record by 500 people this year. and it's expected to get even bigger next year. |

Huh, Ushicon 4 was in 2005 and drew about 5,500 people to Austin, TX, so it was bigger than Sakura-con, at least.
A-kon is so big it draws some resentment from the other Texas cons; it's so big that it has to be run more for efficiency than anything else, and the atmosphere can be extremely frantic. Personally I've always preferred the more laid back atmosphere of a smaller event.

There's always Animethon if you happen to be in westren Canada (Edmonton, Alberta), it's attendance has been going up yearly, though it's probably not "big" compared to things like Otakon. Ussually happens mid-late summer http://www.animethon.org If you prefer Calgary, I think they put on something called Otafest which happens in the spring http://www.otafest.com
