I detest file indexing applications. The first thing I did in Ubuntu Gutsy is disable Tracker from running at startup. It really cramps your processor down and I never found any use for it. I'm good with a clean folder tree in my head, like SeijiSensei, plus the Unix way of mounting filesystems in any folder you want makes managing different hard drives easier and nicer.

Ideally the indexing will only occur once and then whatever file indexing daemon is in use will use inotify in the kernel to automatically update the index on the fly when files change on disk.
