(L) Ghost Hunt

After watching the first episode this looks like quite and interesting series. I guess the part that interests me the most was the manga's description(see the bit in bold):

Seventeen-year-old Kazuya Shibuya is the president of the Shibuya Psychic Research Center, a think tank that studies psychic phenomenon. The firm investigates various strange occurrences at the behest of its clients, while Shibuya's assistant, Mai Taniyama, deals with her love/hate relationship towards her boss.

Second episode aired last Tuesday night. Third episode finished airing two hours ago. The "fall anime calendar" in my sig is a weekly TV schedule.

For me, this is one of the most enjoyable shows for this Fall.
I liked interaction among the characters more than the story.
Kaori Nazuka's voice seems to fit the counterpart in an anime for females of a harem master in a bishoujo anime.
Her voice is familiar and cozy rather than outstanding and fascinating.

I don't think its the best of all, but its certainly very enjoyable.

Mai finally realized her feelings!
Its pretty early in the series, which is exciting to me, because that there is lots of time to explore it rather than a few rushed episodes near the end.

The ending of the first ghost story was a bit so-so. a wishy washy mix of supernatural and scientific explanations.... meh.

I wonder if Naru is aware of her crush. It would be hard to imagine he's not... being that he is very perceptive. He seems much older than her despite his purported age in the show, I wonder why he isnt in school somewhere himself, and is instead going around acting like an adult and owning his own company.

Looks like we have another First Class Tsundere here with Mai. Her "dere-dere" antics almost remind me of Ayako from Mamoru-kun ni Megami no Shukufuku wo. I nearly fell off my chair laughing at how she went moe-ballistic just after saying "bye bye" to Kazuya in a very cute way, then just losing it again when she met with him just later on.

I think there is not much love for ghost hunt. T_T I wish more people will write and blog about this series....sigh sigh...(i need more company, blogging alone with no comments is boring, desu~)

actually, i am a bit shocked with the sudden blushing by Mai. It just seems a bit out of place for the show.

However, the explaination, be it scientific or supernatural to explain the situation that had happened in ep 3 was spot on. I like how Shibuya systemically organized his thoughts. You know, it's like a light hearted version of a detective story. The case on immense stress causing the poltergeist to come out is based on supernatural facts. (yes, an oxymoron)

The good thing about this show is that the ghost never do appear. I think if it does, the mysterious part whether there is a ghost or not becomes too clear. I like the line to be blurred and it's all good. Now, to pray the subbing groups sub this faster, yea ^+^)

I think the explanation for the ghost incident at the old school building is a bit contrived. Other than that, it's still a fun episode to watch.

I've given up on watching the raws for this series. Too complicated. Need to wait for the subs...

Of course, I may still just watch the show for Mai, who's extremely likeable as a protagonist.

I've reading the manga recently. And I have to agree explanation for the first case is a bit "blah". The second case is a bit better, but case three (and what I've read of four) is alot better IMO. Can't wait to see it animated.

On a side note, has anyone read the original novels? How do they compare to the manga in terms of character and atmosphere?

No, its was most certainly the doll's head.

I loved the freakyness of that scene though, it really gave me the "get the fuck out of there or youre all going to die" vibe normally reserved for well done horror films

I had to check. I wasn't 100% sure, but yeah the close up after that (which I missed for some reason) shows it's the doll. Good scene like you say, genuinely chilling.

Although the split screen extreme close-ups of everyone's shocked reaction is wearing a bit thin.

Actually it wasn't the doll that freaked me out this week but the imprint of the hand on the sister's ankle. But the cliffhanger - the spooky lady with the glowing eyes. Even Naru-chan was rattled by her appearance.

On a lighter note Mai getting all jealous over Masako and Naru-chan was sweet. Masako was a bit shameless I thought, with her fiened swooning into Naru-chan's arms. Definate rival for Mai

Well that's how I interpreted it. Lets look at the evidence: Masako sees Naru-chan. Up goes the hand (nice touch). Masako swoons into the comfort of Naru-chan's manly chest. Mai responds with jealousy.

Nope, I don't think the old 'negative spiritual energy' ploy will wash with Mai anymore Masako-san.

Masako's response was both real and an act. The negative spiritual energy genuinely affected her. If you remember, she felt bad in the hallway before she ever spotted Naru. However, when she saw Naru she exaggerated her distress. Despite that, there is some truth to the fact that Masako felt ill and weak due to the negative energy.

As for Mai, she realizes that Masako was playing up her illness. She knows Masako felt ill for real. She also knows that Masako chose Naru's arms to swoon into. (At least, that's how the manga depicted the situation in my opinion.)
