Wait...people actually honestly thought you were female? I thought you were joking when you said that earlier in this thread...

Maybe I take Anime Traps 101 a bit too seriously? Meh...

The creator of Lucky☆Star is male, btw. I believe he's also the creator of Comptiq's mascot character.

Oh so you are a member of the superior gender.

We look forward to hearing your opinions on how this title truthfully portrays female otaku, which yaoi game you play currrently and what rating would you give the butler cafe that you last visited.

Whoa! You're actually female. I thought you were a guy. Your writing style looked male to me.

But why do we need to know who's female and who's male? An opinion is an opinion no matter what gender it originates from.

Sorry to let you down but that was actually a mistake in the sentence. I actually meant to right "If people want to still believe I am a woman" not "if people want to still believe I am a woman". Please don't hold it against me.

I try very hard not to come across as anything resembling Chauvinsitic though and I don't do so because society expects me to, but because I absolutely postively believe it is digusting, because a) I am very much a socialist in a very conservative family and b)I absolutely cannot stand chauvinism of any kind coming from my side of the so-called gender barrier, frankly it digusts me. I don't like the idea of men predominantly holding power in a lot of positions either and have nothing but support for the idea of Izumi's character. I also don't believe in gender at all, I don't buy it and I don't think it should exist. So it's neat to see Izumi playing games because the way societies set up to discourage such an idea, it isn't happening in real life anytime soon. There's a lot more I want to discuss about a certain aspect of my family, but I feel I may go on a bit of a rant.

Wow, that's low. I mean, he or she should show up his or her face. It's probably the same person who repped me anonymously for this post.

*EDITED: Thanks for the warning, Kaioshin* ~ Ascaloth

I think it's come to the point where we should start filing official complaints against this guy, whoever it is.

Your intent is commendable, but gender differences are quite real.

A minority gender's perspective and opinion on something like anime can be quite informative.

Gender differences are socially constructed and therefore do not exist naturally. This was discussed in a core Social Sciences course I took in university. Sex, the biological difference between male and female does occur naturally however. Gender differences are only as real as the society in which they exist makes them. For example in ancient history (actually up until pretty recently in North America in the 1920's) women were not seen as full people and thus were not given votes or social status. Eventually people caught on to the fact that if men and women are the same species than they must both be people. It took them damn long enough though.

Yay, females are minority!

You deserve a nagging just for saying that! (and me too just for echoing it )

PS: FYI, female world population is higher than male in most recent estimates

I actually have a fair amount to say regarding how differences in gender roles, gender capabilities, and gender status are all quite separate and shouldn't be lumped together in a vague term like "gender differences", but I don't think this is the best place to break out in sociological discussion. Unless, of course, Konata spends an episode discussing gender differences in RPGs or something.

Edit: I think Shinova is referring to females being a minority here in the context of people who post in this thread and plan on watching the show.

Oh, if that's the case, I take it back... Not! Not really. Minority sounds extremely harsh in my opinion, and it should be used in no kind of context involving sociologically self-imposed differences between human beings (such as race and sex). Because, if we say minority, we're actually admitting that such a difference exists in the first place

You mean how in traditional RPG's the women always seem to be meek healer types or spell casters who crumple under the blow of a few hits while the men are all tanks and do massive physical damage, but have no healing spells.

Of course if you go by the H-RPG's I've play then the men being tanks still applies, but the women are even more ungodly overpowered and often tank, AoE spellcast The Enemy To Death, have lots of HP and do respectable physical damage.

Yeah, pretty much. Which makes it all the funnier to find ones that subvert the stereotype.

BTW, I was just reading that link to The Grand List of Console Role Playing Game Cliches that Zaris posted a while back, and am still chuckling about it...

Edit: corrected the name >_<

I think I need to read that again. It's classic. I read that a few years back actually.

I've given you negative rep once. If you've gotten negative repped more than once lately, it just means someone else felt you deserved it. You can't "keep" negative repping someone. It works the same way as positive repping. The system won't allow it.

I was tempted to do it before and I didn't. I resisted because I suspected doing so would remove several reputation points, and I wasn't quite prepared to do that at the time. I didn't sign off on it for the reasons Vallen Chaos Valiant mentioned. It just has the potential to start rep wars, and the mods really don't like that. I've outed myself only because you asked.

Now I have a request. Could you please stay on topic? It's getting a little out of hand.

As soon as people are ready to stop mentioning *** in a thread it will be back on topic. I've been more than ready to return to the topic at hand regarding Lucky Star and possibly some of the Otaku/Gaming aspects of the show, but I always seem to get the flack for my posts being the unintentional trigger of a topic derailment. Everything I've said since has also been a response to somebody else so I don't see why I'm the source of anything. I suppose it encourages the off-topic discussion to continue, but I kind of want to reply to some of these posts. Anyway I was kind of hoping the person might notice and contact me with a PM, but not that everybody would start chiming in on something they don't know all the facts about.

I don't think I specifically mentioned the manner in which I was contacted, but it was anonymous and relating to Lucky Star and I just wished to know the persons identity if possible, that is all. Didn't know how else to do it, but with an announcement in the thread. I've already put one foot over the edge of the cliff and I don't want the other going over. Now that's its over, I would gladly encourage nobody else to discuss this anymore as it is against the rules to go down this road. I'll see if the person contacts me and hopefully that's that please and thank you.

Anyway I've been spending far too much time here and I feel like I'm not helping matters. Somethings changing in me, I'm possibly lightening up a lot faster than I myself can imagine and I haven't been able to express it properly, because its stuff I haven't felt in over 5 years. Anyway, I'm taking a vacation from here for a while to think about some things.

Sorry, continue then people.
