I dunno, I think I sensed a a contradiction between "soon" and "Kaioshin warming up."

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone thinks that Lucky*Star will go halfway following the 4-Koma adaption way and then switches to maybe a more plot/story driven type show? I mean, even if there's a lot of material to cover in the manga, there might be the possibility of getting stale like the "villain-of-the-ep" thing from Jigoku Shoujo.

I dunno... Azumanga Daioh managed 24ish episodes covering 3 years of high school (lots happened yet nothing happened... so to speak).

Lucky*Star has managed 3 volumes (is the 4th out yet?) of funny without missing much of a beat..... really the series is much like Peanuts --- there's really nowhere to "go", its just life's little bits.

From a series perspective though, you kind of wonder how they'll handle the last episode (not that Paniponi Dash really "ended" either....).

Like I've put it in MT, LS is the AzuMan for the new breed of Otaku with the anime female archtypes and the moe designs.

Time does pass in LS if you look closely at it with the change in seasons and the character ages. Azuman had 3 years worth of run and this is the 3rd year for LS, so I have reason to believe that LS will be done with both it's anime and 4-koma run around the same time.

Except that for whatever inexplicable reason, Chiyo-chan NEVER GROWS! 0_o;;

She's like 11 to start and 14 at the end, and somehow never hit any kind of growth spurt lol... She should look like a HS sophomore by the end of the series. (Rhetorical, yes I know shes the loli of the show)

I've been so busy figuring out what they were saying I haven't really just appreciated the drawings as much as I should in the manga.

(I'm depressed -- I put up all those pics after you poked at me and not a word now )

What can I say ? I guess it puts a glimmer of hope that anime archtypes does exist in real life.

So does Konata, Kagami express shock when she find Konata still fits into her 6th Grade swimsuit in the manga.

OW! I just untentionally poked myself in the eye and it really freaking hurts .

Okay with only one eye, I can answer that question, kind of. For the first one its when they stop trying to gloss over flaws and lack of realistic character development with a depressing and pseudo-dramatic ending (and try not to take offence to this people, its just how I see their stories) and for the second one, I have no real issue with Kyoto Animation other than a perceived lack of originality and some of its zealot like fans.

So basically for the first one its up to the company to the company to wow me for real, and the second one, for gods sake hurry up and do your own series Kyoto like that poll said you guys would and I alone will judge it for myself, I know you can do this if you just try. Oh and do something about the fans who will leave bombs at your doorstep (figuratively speaking in terms of punishing the company with boycotts) if you don't do things a certain way, they aren't helping you, they are holding you back.

Owwwwwwwwww..... forgive me if this makes no sense, I'm kind of in a lot of pain right now, I hope I didn't scratch my retina or something. This isn't really meant to be a tirade against anyone, but just my answer to that question from my point of view, and its an opinion this time. Please don't blame me if this doesn't get its own forum.....heh. Ouch.

So people can't make jokesn without it being some big scheme and ad campaign to cash in on the latest craze? Lighten up man. People will always make these kinda references, always have and always wil. And yes ESPECIALLY because it is popular. And the show was sadly never gonna be "small profile" percisely because of who is making it.

On a more important note:
I'd like to use this if I may.

In fact this argument no longer holds water. Doh!

Sure, go ahead.

I've properly watched episode 2 with afk subs. Since the show is divided in parts, so it's my brief commentary:

- Kagami & Tsukasa's golden week: probably the best part of the episode. It flowed very smoothly and was at the same time funny and relaxing.
- "That's not right!" : there isn't such an enjoyable thing as to see Kagami going nuts for Konata's successes
- Arcade: brilliant on each single part. (KonaKona .. lol)
- Drills and dentists : references aside, boring. It reminded me of the food discussion on episode 1, meaning a dialogue with a tendency of being too redundant. It's the only part of this episode where I felt slightly bored as it progressed. It proves as I prefere a bit of "action" aside them being in the class and speaking.
- Making a face: the way they depicted the girls' laughing faces was wonderful. And Kagami's "it isn't even human!" is the funniest quote of the week
- Switching seiyuus: auto-parody is something I highly admire. Especially because I'm not sure if in LS it was such a bad idea to change the caste (on the contrary I can't find a single flaw on the current one).
- Konata's job: good, though they could have shown maid Konata as well.
- Lucky Channel: I absolutely adore Akira's double sided personality. As standalone this part was weaker than the counterpart in episode 1 (except for Akira's disgusted face at "Nani sore?"), unless it's building something to develop in the future.
- Karaoke: I'm not too fond of it (even if I have watched those shows, the songs had probably been dubbed, so they're not a memory to me) , but I like that way to depict Konata's "culture" and especially to hear Hirano Aya sing in that way.

References: I only got Keroro, Haruhi and the discussion about the drama cd as a self-parody. I totally missed "wawawawa", but I think it meant to be really really acknowledged on SHNY to remember of such a detail. So congrats to who got it at first attempt

Consistent progresses from episode one make my rating for this a 9

Okay. I've now seen ep2 three times and my verdict is in: this is a great show. I was feeling suppressed laughter most of the way through. Once again: not hilarious, but just right.

The character design (original and adaptation) works really well, as do the voices and the rhythms. And the overall look is so clean and enjoyable. It wouldn't matter which studio's name was attached to this, for me it would still be highly amusing.

I never tire of the OP. And all the jokes and variations on the show are lots of fun.

Now that I know I heard them correctly, I want to say again what a gas it is to have them talking about drama CD cast vs. anime cast. High-class modern entertainment.

So absolutely nobody got the blatantly obvious "Change Getter" one eh. That makes me quite sad actually. At least I can hold the claim that I got a joke that nobody else got, but in turn that also makes me a bit of a supernerd otaku. Oh well.....I guess the older the show referenced the less likely it is to be picked up on. I suppose I'll play the old man role, you know the guy who knows how "things were in my days" and always wants to talk about them. That is if I haven't been disowned for being the commercialism nazi. I am already shaping up to be a cranky bitter old man the way things are going for me.

Hey Kaoru's back. You know that's just about how I feel if just the teensiest bit less enthuastic. The just right balance between comedy and subtlety has been winning me over slowly, but there are minor issues indirectly related to the show that are still holding me back from fully embracing it.

I think its more cross-reference incestual advertising than anything else. Kind of like, oh I don't know, a Seinfeld dream sequence where everyone is dressed like a character on Star Trek. Wouldn't it be funny if we had characters from Show X dress and act like Show Y.

Yeah, its funny the first few times.... but at best its just silly after that (not in a good way).
I think I saw dozens of "take the characters (like from Nanoha) and have them in a line shaking their fingers and wiggling their hips" and I'm not even sure what the hell show *that* was supposed to be riffing from.

"change getter" ... several people picked up on it (though I think mostly over on the MT forum). Its pretty clear that Kona has special reverence for the "classics" and that no one around her has any idea what she is talking about half the time. Come on, Kaoshin, you ought to relate very strongly to Konata

It's just...ugh, I'm just kind of tired of the whole drama over this company and the silliness that goes into discussing everything they do as if their methods are somehow infinintely cleverer than others who would, have and are doing the same thing. It's an endless cycle. I know they aren't the only ones who would use techniques like this, because Sunrise did it a while back with a Bandai Toy Camera that had nothing to do with Gundam's, but involved Zaku's advertising it. I also know that in this case they aren't really involved as its a Comptiq thing.

My gripe here is that to my knowledge they are the only company that is ever praised exstensively for ads they are directly or indirectly involved in and why is that? I know why, but I also don't really understand why. It's just one of those bizarre pet peeves of mine that is hard to explain, and I have others outside of anime as well.
1min job, and yes, I know Miyuki is barely noticeable.

You seem to have forgotten my earlier explanation already...

Okay, fine. Let me use an analogy to aid you here.

I am sure you are familiar with the adage, "Frog in the Well"? This is because it applies to you very well here right now. You are questioning the presence of Lucky Star related material in a thread dedicated to the discussion of Lucky Star.

Let that last sentence sink into your mind for a while.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Has any logic switches click yet?

I dunno about you, but I barely see any discussion of Lucky Star in the other AnimeSuki forums. That hardly constitutes any level of zealot-ism.

Somebody commented on the HHY-reference? OMG! He's a fanatic! Burn him! Burn him! Witch, witch, witch! Good grief, you remind me of the McCarthy trials at times. It is only "wrong" if a person interjects a discussion with material that is "off-topic". How is commenting on a HHY-reference that is REALLY there any wrong? People commented on the Keroro Gunsou reference too, but I don't see you jumping on their backs for being Keroro Gunsou zealots. Isn't that a bit hypocritical in the grand scheme of things?

I said it once, and I will say it again. You are looking for dragons and ghosts where there are none; or to put it another way, you are trying to start a witch-hunt for no rhyme or reason.

Everytime somebody starts a benign discussion about anything remotely related to KyoAni, you jump in with guns blazing and start derailing the issue with your ill-conceived perceptions about the company and such.

People just want to have fun talking about Lucky Star and the parodies it spawned, but you just seem to want to spoil the fun and spray vinegar into people's eyes and burn the party decorations.

It's okay to gatecrash a party and make some noise (aka criticism); but when you start throwing the cake to the floor, I think that's a problem.

Haiz.
