Counting the previous Kanon, I'd say... hmm... 2? I plan on downloading a higher quality sub and maybe rewatching it though, but I've got about 100eps of anime series I haven't watched in the summer and they're pilling up

I'm in that situation too. But, the new season is here. Negima!?, Pumpkin Scissors, Red Garden, D.Gray-man, Death Note, and Black Lagoon just adds to the backlog, especially since I'm impatient and watch raws too for some of these titles.

I watched it 4 times so far I think. I've given up watching the different group versions at this point.

I like that dream/flashback scene at the end. Lol! it's like deja vu to Nayuki . The scene where Ayu and Yuuichi were running, that was so cute no?

Aha. I watched the full ep only twice, but I watched Spinning Ayu seventeen times...

Hm. Well, I've watched episode one four times now. I'll probably watch it once or twice more before episode two - it's been a stressful week for me, and Kanon has been acting as a perfect pick-me-up.

I think I must have sat through Kanon 2k2 more than twice entirely. 2K6 so far, I lost count...

My backlog is just getting deeper, I've got about six series downloaded but in the "wait a second" queue now. Looks like Kanon2k6 and Negima!? will be front and center for now though (though I've also got those recent DVD arrivals to review).

I think I somehow know less about this show after watching it than I did before
The one thing I did learn is that it seems to be a Haruhi seiyuu reunion. They've got Kyon's, Yuki's, Asakura's (I think), and Haruhi's voice talents all present. I was actually surprised that Ayu (who, I should mention, is pure love and win) wasn't voiced by Mikuru's seiyuu.
Animation is just beautiful. All my internets are belong to KyoAni for setting a new standard in TV animation with their two latest offerings.
The music is also wonderful. The tranqulity of the OP perfectly sets up the atmosphere for the show, and the background music perpetuates the whole thing. Beautiful.
I'm pretty sure there is no plot, so... N/A.
The characters feel like your standard bishoujo anime compliment. We have the adorable and outgoing -next-door (literally), her beautiful and knowing mother, the quietly mysterious , the adorable helpless loli, the tsundere and her obedient fanboy, and the easygoing nice guy at the middle of it all who we can project our onto. Heck, the nice guy and the -next-door even have the 'childhood promise' thing going. It's pretty much a textbook example of a bishoujo series, although the obnoxious wackiness is (fortunately) completely absent. This is the way it seems at this point, anyway. It's only the first episode, so there's no telling how deep or shallow the characters and their relationships will turn out.
Hmm... what else? Oh, the animation is amazing.

It's still in the 'probably' catagory, but it could well move up to 'most likely.'

No lolis? D:
Pedobear is sad

Spoiler:

Like I said, this is only the first episode, so these opinions are subject to change. I never saw the first anime, played the game, or really knew anything about it before I saw this episode. So, my predictions should be taken with this in mind.

Does loli mean child characters or childlike characters....cause if it's the latter then I would argue this point......

If you want data FatPianoBoy, according to Prelude's "Introductory Note"...

Ayu is 154 cm tall (approx 5 feet tall) and weighs 41 kg. (90 lbs).

Oops totally forgot...

I've watched the first episode at least 5 times. I can't get enough of uguuuuu.

Plus the BGM and intro music is so soothing.

I never did see Kanon 2k2, I wasn't even into anime back then so...no clue on how this series will go. Aside from that, I did watch The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya a little while back, and loved it, as well as the animation. I didn't have much interest in this according to the summaries, but I figured what the heck, give it a try. Watched it today after I got out of school and I'm liking it, not really sure what's bringing me into it, but it's interesting, and the animation is once again very nice. Have several questions that I'm hoping are answered in the next episode. I'll be sticking with this one.

Hmmm, that makes her a bit taller than my wife (151cm) and a bit lighter (42kg) --- but she's my age though she's not quite the taiyaki menace (she likes it, but she doesn't steal it)

Before one calls Kanon "cliched", we kind of have to put it historical context ... that is, 4-6 years ago, around the time of Love Hina (2000). Some of the more recent anime are actually riffs of Kanon (and Kanon of course builds on its temporal competition and its predecessors). It isn't that it is that original .... it is just that to many people it was a story told well.

There's ALOT of story hidden behind the scenes with each of the characters. Just have to have patience and enjoy the ride.
