Actually, I created Syn to be Vivio's Fate in the exact sense of the context: A friendship that leaves the exact details up to the imagination of the reader. Friends or lovers? Which one is true? That all depends what the reader wants to see in it.

No, the toast is generated using a program that takes a pre-existing image and places it on a slice of bread.

It's like those "Make your own [thing]" generators. You upload a pic, and it gets transferred onto a plain piece of bread. I remember there was a link to it, or at least a better description as to how it works, but I don't have it on me.

At least, that's what I know. I prefer cereal myself. Chocolate Chex FTW.

Pah, I didn't do much (And I didn't finish reconstruction yet either and you know that Lowe.). Reconstruction just require persistence, some patience and a bit of imagination. Lowe's part is much harder in my opinion.

I did see a niconico douga video making one of those with a breadtoaster and a metal face shape. On that movie it was a Konata :3 face. Although I've lost the link to that movie :<

There's something throwing me off...
It's pretty much the whole clump of bangs that's longer than the rest of them...it's making me think it's another pigtail that shouldn't be there.

One word: Because it's fun. Besides, we don't "own" the images and claim them to be our own (well, copyright-wise), and we do acknowledge the source image.

As for the source, it's a Takeshi Nakamura image of Octavia from Tears to Tiara as mentioned in the previous page.

It's all light-hearted humor, no need to be hung-up about technicalities. Besides, editting of images one way or the other is quite rampant here (especially in sigs). There's nothing offensive about it, so long as you don't start claiming that the original image was yours (unless of course, it really is yours)

And Teen Vivio art has a tendency to get buried under the moe-blob Vivio art, so any art of Teen Vivio, be it drawn or shopped, is more then welcome in my book.

I was more talking about editing one character into another. Just changing her eye colour doesn't make her look like Vivio, not in the least. I wouldn't say I'm "hung up" about this, I just don't see what all the excitement is about.

Other than that, I agree that it's not an issue as long as you don't claim the art to be your own.
