I saw 4 volumes of Full metal panic overload graphics novels in english on amazon.co.jp. Anyone has read them before? Are they worth buying?

Think Fumoffu with a different art style and somewhat less whacky humor (ie, no Bonta-kun) and you'll have a pretty good idea. The story is roughly the same but not entirely: Tessa shows up a lot but I think she's just a background character and not Sousuke's superior (he never reacts to her presence). If you liked Fumoffu or the humor chapters of the regular manga you might want to give it a try. Best thing I'd suggest (if possible) is to go to a bookstore and skim through a copy there before making a decision.
