Well, I consider the change of pace a good thing. Not to say that I enjoys cross-dressing Hayate, but the comedy value is decent. In fact, we had Gar-Hayate not long ago, so keeping that up makes the story lack of variation. Think it this way: if Hayate goes superman and solve every problem, then where is the room for the character development of Nagi and others?

From what I remember, Yukiji gave the guitar to Ayumu. Still, that ring thing is quite interesting... though I can't guess why she has put that guitar on the counter...

Klaus leads Hayate to an old mansion. The name is 'Murasakinoyakata'. Klaus says that the mansion was given to him by Yukariko.
It was given to Klaus when Yukariko proposed to him. Of course, the age difference between them is great. Klaus says that thirty years ago, he was working as a butler to Yukariko, and he shows the photo to Hayate. Hayate asks Klaus who it is. Klaus says that of course it's him. Hayate says that so that's something like the main character looking completely different from the first when the manga goes on for too long. Anyhow, Klaus continues with his story. The young Yukariko asks Klaus to marry her, but Klaus rejects. With tears in eyes, Yukariko asks if he hates her. Klaus says no. He says that in order to marry someone, that person has to overwhelm the one he/she wants to marry by giving him/her the most valuable thing in possession. If he or she can't then they should be executed. So Yukariko shows him Murasakinoyakata, saying that it's the most expensive building in her possession. Klaus says that he's not overwhelmed by such old mansion. He says that it has to be a tower mansion at least. Yukariko brings bulldozer to wreck the building. Klaus stops her, saying that she should not touch his building. Yukariko asks what he means. Klaus laughs evily and says that it was given to him a minute ago. He says that even it's her, he's going to stop her from wrecking it. Yukariko says it's unfair and tells him to return the building since it's the only land she's got. If he doesn't return the land, she can't build the tower mansion. Klaus says that he can't let her do that. He says that if she wants it back, she has to get it back on her own. Until then, he'll postpone the marriage. Yukariko cries and runs away, calling Klaus an old man with bad breath.
Anyways, after that, Yukariko never spoke a word about marriage nor she asked to return the building. Since Klaus couldn't live in it or develop the area, he just left it there... for thirty years. Klaus says that he'll return the building to new ojou-sama as her house. Though he's unsure if they can get rent out of it. Klaus says that it's up to Hayate. He says that he has not lived in the building for thirty years, and the building is quite old so Hayate has to do some work to make it a place to live. Hayate says don't worry and he says that he'll tell this news to Nagi. At that moment, Hayate feels intent to kill(how do you translate 殺氣?). Klaus asks what's wrong and Hayate asks if this building was given to Yukariko by Mikado. Klaus says that though he doesn't know well, it was given to her by some millionaire she had befriended, so it's not related to Mikado in any way.
Hayate tells about the building to Nagi and Maria. Maria says that it sounds like very old building. Nagi says that they could use 20 million yen to fix the building. Maria says it's a good idea. Hayate tells them that there's something that makes him uncomfortable, so he's going to sleep there tonight. Nagi tells him not to suicide, and Maria says that he should value his life. And this week's chapter ends there.


My comment: Pretty interesting though. For first time, I thought Yukariko was extremely cute!! And to be honest, the appearance of young Klaus shocked me. Really. How can he turn like that?

Yes, but there's no distinctive x-mark on the forehead like Shiranui; rather, it looks like it has tabby stripes or something.
But I guess we'll see when the higher-quality raws come out.

Anyway.... aww, no more crossdressing Hayate? That makes me feel sad. I'm dissapointed in you, Hata.
But aside from that, delving into the background of Klaus the usually forgotten was a nice surprise. Nice hair....

Unfortunately I don't actually care for any other characters at this point. Considering how engrossing the last arc was, going back to the same old same old here isn't all that enticing.

I'm basically sticking through it until Athena comes back.

I'm guessing that is the desired reaction that Hata wanted to get from the character.

Anyway, about the recent spoilers, I can appreciate all of the set up, but all I can see for the near future is that the house will end up haunted and Isumi will have to come and do some spring cleaning. And Sakuya will be dragged along with Chiharu and it will end up with the house exploding or something.

umm anyone else notice that around when hayate saves athena, the drawing becomes kinda wierd? their faces (especially hayate) are now round and small. i liked the old way of drawing better than the characters now look kinda... ugly. lol no offense to anyone. i love hayate the combat butler as much as everyone else . just curious about the drawings.

Yeah. Imagine talking about the Golden Week Arc back when it was just Nagi and friends planning a vacation.

What's happening now is important, but it's all setup and transition stuff. Until Nagi is moved into her new home and settled into her new life, not much else is going to happen.

k, so did Hata forget to include a chapter or something before this one? What happened to the cliffhanger of last chapter, how did Klaus all of the sudden get to be so cool and wise? really, this is all so sudden and without any sort of proper build up, the whole thing with Klaus giving Hayate the ''As butlers, we must endure our master's absurdness'' thing might have been good and all (with him passing knowledge and trust to the youngster here) but after he was reduced to nothing but the butt of the jokes since the early parts of the manga (and even before and after the latest story arc ) I can't take his character seriously like it is expected from me as a reader here. At least we might get a hunted house storyline next chapter, and Isumi might come again, so at least that is something to look forward to.
