Downloading 600mb with a 56k modem is quite difficult.

You're probably getting snubbed because your upload rate is too slow.
(Gettng snubbed means they will not upload and download to you as much).
Try setting your max upload slots to no more than 1 or 2.

And reading Grand's answer it's obvious that he has probably never
even used BT. You can't close other peoples connections in BT.

Ppls does share, just need to be patience .....
for a 600MB, i take appro3days to download it, usually ^_^;

Upload rate usually more than download rate i guess....
but than in my case, when my file is like 60% done.....my download rate getting faster than upload rate

Since you are on a 56k your upload will take away from your download because it isn't a broadband connection (read broadband doesn't always mean faster). Your total pot here has a max of 8k/s. Your 2-3 k up + your 1-2 k down is 3-5 k which leaves 3-5k left for all other communications which will take up 1-2k by themselves, which leaves 2-3k left for all non-bittorrent activity. Granted the 8k mark is a generous number for a good day and good connection, it is most likely closer to 6.5k. bittorrent is a bad idea on a 56k modem, you really should look into one of the other options.

IRC is a good option, if you can find patient people, and configure your DCC settings right.

USENET is a good option if your USENET (newsgroups) server isn't run by idiots. A good server can make all the difference here, you can get a good 15k/s stream off a USENET server under the right conditions (which should let you clear the file in about 11 hours or so, but realistically will be closer to 15).

Kazaa, eMule, and WinMX are decent sources, but I would stay away from them because of the high likelyness of a fake file (which sucks big time on a 56k modem).

I share allways, but we, in good old f**king Germany, have ADSL, with 768 kBit/s download and 128 kBit/s upload, so when I use BT with about 30 downloads, u can guess how high my upload is.

So maybe they have limited ressources like me.
