$50 I could roll with, but $60? Come on.

But, I shall at least calm down until Patricia Lee confirms the imminent raepage of my wallet.

Was the FMA releases with those CDs, imported versions though?Amazon's listing calls the CD an "import CD".

Well, of course you could never actually buy any of those other extras for the prices quoted, regardless of the cost to manufacture. And of course, if you've already gotten the CDs and the other extras don't interest you, there'll be the regular DVDs at normal MSRP. But yeah, in any case, waiting for the complete details seems to make the most sense. (For what it's worth, the R1 LEs are definitely a much better value than the R2 LEs. Not that I regret buying the R2s, but this is one time where it doesn't seem like you'd really miss out all that much at all.)

For a price like that, I'd better be getting the soundtrack CDs as well.

New asosbrigade video up! Haruhi invades "Area 42" with a Star Wars intro and Yuki's character song playing.

Edit: :P Beat me by mere seconds...

Edit2: 7:19 is made of PURE WIN. Mikuru in bunny suit with AK-47 standing next to Yuki in witch outfit with a pair of handguns.

Well then, i guess the imitation thing was referring to imitating the Adventures of Asahina Mikuru. The only incorrect information(on animeonline.com) about the limited editions i could see is the price for volume 1($64.98 instead of $69.98) and that volume 2 will also contain the "Haruhi's brigade leader armband", iron-on logo but no pillow case.

Lord Richard has explained the reasoning on animeondvd.com about the ordering of the DVDs like why the broadcast order DVDs are sub-only

Quote:
The Special Editions were the only way TV Broadcast Order could be released in North America as an "extra". It was pretty tough to get that approved as even Japan doesn't have TV Broadcast Order on DVDs.

So that is why you're seeing Broadcast Order on the special editions instead of regular, because it is an obligation (not a choice) to put Japanese DVD order on regular version

Ah. Kadokawa probably wanted to avoid reverse importation...

Well, at least they got the broadcast order on there in some form. Kudos for that.

Smoked Cheese? Is that even a part of the Haruhi universe? I thought that was a complete invention of the Churuya comic creator.

I should have expected this after news of the license. I've already spent so much on anime and manga recently. At least I'll have some time to gather up funds.

EDIT: According to the animeonline link, it seems that the ENOZ performance in episode 12 will retain its Japanese track in the dub. Kinda unfortunate. I don't know Wendee's singing ability, but it would have been cool if it were dubbed. No doubt that they would have done well with good writing and voice.

That doesn't really surprise me all that much... so much effort was put into the animation and audio sync in those scenes. Sure you can use the same instrumental track, but there's lipsync too. I at least suspect that it'd be pretty difficult to do a song dub that would maintain the right timing and vocal pattern of lyrics and not sound weird. So yeah... it would have been neat, but only if it were pulled off perfectly. As it stood, you went into that scene not knowing she could sing -- and not just sing, but sing in Japanese! So it should still work.

And, it should be pointed out, that regular editions will still be available for the normal MSRP of $29.98. You know, before a bunch of people come into the thread decrying that it's way too expensive -- only if you want the non-DVD extras, otherwise it's normally-priced.

Since I throw around my money for anime and manga like crazy, I don't think the special editions' prices will bother me that much. It's for a good cause, I say.

And how many of you (even the males) will actually where the Haruhi cosplay ribbon? I'm seriously considering it. Ah, I wish I were still in high school if I were to wear it. Not too many people know me at university...

after taking a second look at what they are putting inside these special DVD sets
its ALOT!!!
but i wouldn"t mind spending that much
this maybe the most that i"ll ever spend on a certain anime series!!
and as for that "HARUHI COSPLAY RIBBON"
i dont think i"ll even wear it (i"m a guy anyways)
but i think i"ll just give it to my little sister or something
or maybe do something with it

i guess i better rush myself to best buy on May twenty ninth if i want one of those special box set
or maybe actually reserving it from sam goody or something!!

Bandai created a new "show" called AnimeTV. The first episode featured their most hyped licences lately, Haruhi. AnimeTV.

If there's a different episode on the site, you can see ep. 1 on YouTube, or something.
