there seems to be alot of hype about this show but it doesnt seem very appealing to me. looks similar to spiral probably with more blood.

aside from Utsukushii-Studio (who, according to alchemist11, are still searching for people to work on it), is anyone else planning on subbing this?

Looks great. I really want to see the Live Action, but I'm waiting on a hopeful sub.

Well, I was planning to check it out anyway as I'm a fan of Kamen Rider and Kikaider, which are other Ishinomori Shoutaro's creations.

To enjoy this kind of show, one must have the appetite for shounen cheese.
I'll pass on human originated cheese thank you very much

Looks like there's some production value to this so i ll check out the first few episodes. Not to mention i grew up on Kamen Rider.

so, with it being Golden Week and all right now, I know the manga anthologies are on break, but what about anime? will we still get a new episode of Skull Man this week or not?

I haven't seen any notices of any breaks on anime shows this week (so far)...

hmm, that's good to hear

and looking at the thread where I found out that Utsukushii-Studio is doing the series, looks like they got everyone they need:

I just saw the first episode, and I'm not sure why anyone would label this series "shounen cheese." It's anything but.

Shounen cheese? If anything, the plot and direction so far are a subversion in Alan Moore's style of the classical super-sentai theme with a Marvels-inspired narrative. The art direction is brilliant, I love how the characters still look Ishinomori even if drawn grittily, even if the animation is pretty unsurprisingly low-key so far, although it still has much more graphical charm and style than what we've seen of Darker than Black. I think those claiming DtB being the "serious" Bones project are going to be amazingly wrong here as even if, most of the times at least, Okamura's restrained direction works wonders the script behind SkullMan feels more focused and less... animatedly forced while the whole production is on a whole different level of polish.

It has such a Marvel/DC comic nostalgic feel to it. I'm really enjoying the dark atmosphere of this title. The ep. 0, especially, reminded me of Batman Begins.

The news of this series getting subbed is awesome indeed I didn’t want it to suffer same fate as GeGeGe no Kitaro . This series has gotten me interested I am reminded of the classic Debiru Man and skull Man appears cooler

just watched ep 1 ~
i thought it was pretty nice and as some has already stated it gives a really nostalgic feeling ~ batman, superman, spiderman and now skullman
the characters shown so far are you typical "search for the truth" type who is bound to dig in too far and eventually might even end up helping skullman ~ i would like to see things unfold for the better but ive had bad experiences with these types of cliches

Saw episode 1. I'll give it 2-3 more episodes before deciding to drop it or not.

Did anyone notice that the guards at the train station were using British guns? I'd expect them to have Tommy Guns, being occupied by America and all that.

Oh I must have missed that. Where was it mentioned that it is American occupation?
