I'm not sure if you mean the Hayate manga or anime, but personally, I'd recommend Rightstuf (www.rightstuf.com). They have old copies of the ADV release of the AIR movie for $9.00 (Quantity Remaining: 2, ww). Even if those get sold out, their price on the Funimation release of the AIR movie is better than Amazon's. And they have a better price for the Hayate stuff, both anime and manga.

The only issue is that Amazon gives you free shipping for orders of $25 or more, but with Rightstuf you need an order of ~$49 or more to get free shipping. But if you're getting a good number of items, it's usually much cheaper and more efficient.

And Rightstuf is about as legitimate as you can get since the company also licenses anime (as Nozomi Entertainment, producers of Marimite, Victorian Romance Emma, etc in R1 land).

Where can i buy anime for the U,K?

I could not find a post about this... please show me the correct one if there is one,

I love anime but i can never buy any because the majority is made in japan - shipped to the u.s and then maybe moved to the u.k. I've searched countless times to buy region two anime with english subtitles (and dubs if available but thats optional). for example, some of my fave animes are mahoromatic and shakugan no shana, seems they shipped both titles to america and then only shipped the first series to england.

another anime i like called seto no hanayome has been recently liscenced and shipped to america... and thats it. it just damn annoyes the hell outta me. I want to buy animes but they aint sold here. as far as i know, if i search for anime it comes up with american sites, if i search region two it comes up with japanese sites... i'm just wondering if there are any special otaku shops you can go to or something to buy anime. I'm also interested in any other people with this problem.

thanks guys.

EDIT: Do'h, just spotted a section like this on the stickys, gnna read through that now. ^^ baka.

1. Americans buy more anime DVD's, and are a larger market.
2. Therefore, America gets more anime DVD releases.

It's inescapable economics.

The UK does get anime on DVD, just not as much as the US. I don't know much about R2 UK licenses, but there are a bunch of people on the AnimeOnDVD R2 board who do. If you need help or have a question, that might be a good place to ask:

http://www.mania.com/aodvb/forumdisplay.php?f=39

For example, one useful thing they maintain is this master list of "Upcoming R2 UK Release Dates":

Multi-region DVD players aren't too hard to find nowadays and aren't too expensive.

Yeah i know that but the thing is i use my ps3 to play dvds, so i have to buy a multi-region dvd player just for anime, then find somwhere to put it, and THEN spend money on the anime's. It's just annoying how the cant just make multi-region dvds.

just checked the link, the only things that interest me are mahoromatic:something more beautiful and the ichigo 100% manga. I really need to get "The familiar of zero" "Shakugan no Shana series 2" "mahoromatic:something more beautiful" and "Chibi vampire Karin" imports

Uhh... English or Japanese?

http://www.erogeshop.com/index.php Mostly Japanese

A few sites here and there sell English eroge, but not many of them have been localized.

Plus http://www.mangagamer.com/r18. They're a new company, and have had lots of struggles in establishing themselves, but they're starting to release some real good titles.

There are really only two active companies that localize eroge into English: JastUSA (http://www.jastusa.com. J-List is a sister company that also sells their games, but if you want to look at just eroge, I'd look there) and MangaGamer (listed above). It's a very small market, but it plugs along.

You can also buy a few eroge in English on DLsite. Some, like "Violent Semen Inferno" (http://eng.dlsite.com/work/=/product_id/RE018397.html) are available as a payed download that comes in English. You can also buy many others on DLsite and play them with English translation patches from http://www.darktranslations.com (just follow the "Buy" link for each game to go to it's DLsite page.).

I'm no expert on eroge, but if you need help, I'd suggest asking the people from the JastUSA forums: http://www.jastusa.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=14. It has a rather knowledgeable userbase.

If you're looking to import Japanese eroge, there's Palet Web (NSFW) and Erogeshop (NSFW). Palet Web mainly offers used visual novels, but they do carry some new ones. You can also buy them through the use of a deputy or intermediary service and buy them through normal Japanese shops (Softmap, for example). Yahoo Auctions Japan is also a great place to buy used visual novels (but again, you normally need to use a deputy service). If you're in the US and go to cons, Hen-Da-Ne sells some imported visual novels at their table.

anyone know how to get Japan-exclusive releases for a non-retardly marked up price eg this?
ebay and playasia are crazy (some prices are increased 100%+ -_-), otacute and nihonju are soso (around 30% markup)- wondering if there are any sites that offer prices as close to retail as possible. I realise that this thread is more for DVDs but the figurine thread just seemed inappropriate.

You could try a proxy shipping service such as Tenso. You might need to know some Japanese and how to use a proxy server for this to work....

To be frank, 30% markup for a Japan Exclusive item isn't that bad.

Don't know if anybody mentioned these stores or not, but I've had great luck at Best Buy and Saturday Matinee(a division of FYE stores) in my area which is the U.S. Also I think JLast/JList sell multi-region DVD players.

Ok guys, I'm screwed, need help.

Right, my prediciment is thus:
1) I live in the united kingdom.
2) I love anime, and I wish to purchase some.
3) Alot of what I watch is not released in the uk.
4) To name a few examples, Mahoromatic series 2, Shana series 2, Zero no tsukaima (all series)
5)I wish for the animes to be region 1/2, preferably 2 but i'm not bothered, I can buy a multi region dvd player.
6)I wish for there to be english subtitles and an english dub option (not necessary if there is none available but I would highly prefer one.)
7) I highly prefer series box-sets and not the volume dvds.

Now the hard part, purchasing.
1) I'm in england so there are extremely few anime shops to purchase from.
2) If we find one they likely wont sell my partcular anime.
3) My dad is very picky about online purchasing.
4) There is little chance he will buy using a paypal card but he might.
5) He will only purchase online If the website is based in the uk and has full contact details - he doesn't trust any website that only leaves email addresses.

Price wise, I would prefer series under 15 episodes to cost around 10-20 and series of around 20+ episodes around 15-35.

This is a LOT to ask for so I'm shitting myself. any help or advice please >.>
