Which voices have you associated with a character?

There are probably times when you watch an anime and as a character speaks, you recognize them as your favourite voice actor/actress, or maybe even as another character of another series. Which voices have you already associated with a character?

Like when I hear Tamura Yukari's voice now, I will think of it as Takamichi Nanoha's voice. Others I can think of right now is..

Noto Mamiko - Enma Ai (Jigoku Shoujo)
Kugimiya Rie - Shana (SnS)
Kadowaki Mai - Ilya (F/SN)
Matsuoka Yuki - Evangeline A.K McDowell (Negima!)
Horie Yui - Shirakawa Kotori (Da Capo)
Yukana - Mashiro (Mai HIME/Otome)
Hirano Aya - Suzumiya Haruhi (SHnY)
Goto Yoko - Fuyou Kaede (Shuffle!)
Saito Chiwa - Becky Miyamoto (PPD!)
Sugita Tomokazu - Kyon (SHnY)

Biggest one for me is probably Alucard from Hellsing. (Jouji Nakata)

Steven Blum - Eikichi Onizuka
Allison Keith - Misato Katsuragi
Miki Itou - Asa Shigure

Those are the only three that I can think of that I instantly think of the character whenever I think of the VA or hear the VA's voice.

I always, always think of Sachiko from Maria-sama ga Miteru when I hear Itou Miki. I just love her voice so much and since Sachiko was the first role I heard her in, I automatically think of Sachiko when I hear her now.

There are some Siyus who change their voice to suit the role but there are some who used a consistent voice for any role . These Seiyu who have their own style rather than the chracter they are potraying stand out for me and are my fave . Two seiyus I have come across have the mosts distinct voice and oodles of style

* Shinichiro Miki - Urahara ( Bleach )

* Hirata Hiroaki - Sha Gojyo ( Saiyuki )

I associate voices with charactor types, rather than specific charactors. I'd give examples, but I've never bothered to learn the voice actor's names...

I really can't get Winner Sinclair out of my mind everytime I hear Kouki Miyata nowadays...

Tomoko Kaneda and Etsuko Kozakura tend to be very distinct, so I'm always reminded of Chiyo with Kaneda and of Ryo-Ohki (speaking, in Pretty Sammy) with Kozakura.

This problem rarely occurs to me with main characters, but I can think of some cases caused by the same voice being used way too often (which is not to say that I didn't like them).

Eri Kitamura - Saya (Blood+)
Akemi Kanda - Asuna (Negima)
Rikiya Koyama - Hakuoro (Utawarerumono)
Sayuri Yahagi - Karin (Karin)
Momoko Saito - Solty (Solty Rei)
Haruka Kudou - Haruka (Noein)
Michi Niino - Aaeru (Simoun)
Kana Hanazawa - Ryoko (ZEGAPAIN)

For some of them, this is clearly caused by the so little number of roles they've had so far, and their voices might end up gaining diversity with the experience. I know that I am surely looking forward to hearing the last three evolving in the next few years (I am begging all studios, please find them some roles!).

It really depends on when you watched a certain show, if prior of after a certain other one. IE I may associate (as in imprinting) very famous seiyuus to not so known roles of them, since that was the first work of them I heard.
However, these are the ones I am usually able to recognize, and the associations my mind makes:

Tamura Yukari --> Misha (Pita Ten)
Horie Yui --> Honda Tohru (Fruits Basket)
Nakahara Mai --> Kasugano Midori (Midori no Hibi)
Hirano Aya --> Suzumiya Haruhi (Suzumiya Haruhi)
Mamiko Noto --> Tsukamoto Yakumo (School Rumble)
Koshimizu Ami --> Tsukamoto Tenma (School Rumble)
Kugimiya Rie --> Shana (Shakugan no Shana)
Mitsuhashi Kanako --> Asahina Suzuka (Suzuka)
Takahashi Mikako --> Yamada Ayumi (Honey & Clover)
Tange Sakura --> Kinomoto Sakura (Card Captor Sakura)
Yahagi Sayuri --> Maaka Karin (Karin)
Sasaki Nozomi --> Takahashi Nanami (Bokura ga Ita) -- and whoever she'll dub, she'll always be Nana-chan --
Sakai Kanako --> Onda Aka (REC)

As for males, just a couple:

Tomokazu Sugita --> Motosuwa Hideki (Chobits)
Suzumura Kenichi --> Narumi Ayumu (Spiral)

When I hear Negi Springfield (Negima), I always have Takeshima Tsutako in mind (Satou Rina). And anything Gotou Yuuko is Mikuru, anything Ueda Kana is Hazumu (Kashimashi)..

I forgot all about her the seiyu of Rukia ( Bleach ) That voice is registered in my head as Rukia . Though she did stare as Celes in Hellsing but Alucard stole all the limelight . When I was watching Code Geass I could recongnize Shirley Fenette as Rukia .

Fumiko Orikasa - Rukia ( Bleach )

Bias, BIIIIIIIIIIIASSSSSSSSSSS! That few men eh. Too much series with dominant female casts me thinks. I'll pick up the slack there since the male voice actors get absolutely no respect on these or other boards any more, its all about the girls and their image now.

So Tomakazu was Hideki, this explains why I wanted to reach into the screen and drive the characters head through the wall every time he talked while viewing it at an anime club meeting. I bet I can make a ton of links with characters I've wanted to see suffer some horrible fate or at the very least stop talking period, now that I know who Tomakazu is. From looking him up on ANN alone I've just now made the Rin from Shuffle! connection. Go figure that its always been the same guy doing all the voices I have been annoyed by for the longest time. Ok you know what, I have a devilish idea. Hehehe.

I've added a few new people to my list now in order to balance it more between the sexes so look up people, waaaaaaaay up. Actually now you can look just below me to see Shuichi Ikeda whom I missed along with Takehito Koyasu who encompasses the handsome bishounen and so on. So now the men have some representation. YAY!

Shuichi Ikeda - Char Aznable. (Self-explainatory)
Toru Furuya - Amuro Ray (He's the Mark Hamill of Gundam. Who remembers Mark for anything other than Star Wars/Luke anyway?)
Naya Goro - THE GREAT LEADER (Again, extremely self-explainatory)
Hoshi Souchiro - Eisen, Kazuki and chaos (He's good, when he isn't playing the atypical teenager character)
Takehito Koyasu - Fujimiya Aya and Kuroyanagi Ryo (first for Weiss, second for epic voice-acting in one anime)
Ryo Horikawa - Reinhard Von Lohengramm (Self-explainatory)
George Nakata - The Count
Kenjiro Tsuda - Seto Kaiba

There's a whole list more I'm not going to write out of laziness.

Eh, I'm the same way... at least when it comes to Japanese VAs. I just can't think of any that I usually recognize without looking on ANN. I wouldn't call it bias, its just that female Japanese voices are easier to remember. They sound more distinct, somehow.

Most of my favorite English VAs are female too, but I also have a few male favorites, like Steven Blum, Crispin Freeman, Mark Diraison, Johnny Yong Bosch, etc.

That's because its the only time she ever stood out and its the only type of role she can do well, in the same way Adam Sandler only ever comes across as Adam Sandler. Keep in kind she has Idol status that makes her a popular draw right now, even though I think she's already peaked and on the downward slope. And she's not a voice actor in the traditional sense of it being an occupation and a craft, she's more of a novelty casting choice for her ability to sing and her charisma. This is why the only thing they could give her at the awards ceremony was a newcomer award and a pat of encouragement on the back. I should probably add her too actually in that capacity.
