) medicine seller XP Also if you come across any fanarts in which medicine seller is wearing everyday clothes ? If you have please do post them ... Leaving fandom aside artistically speaking Mononoke fanarts are exquisite and intricate when it comes to detail . Also the palette of color used rejuvenates your senses into pure ecstasy . They have used rich bright summer colors remaining true to Mononoke

After months and months of telling myself that i'll check this show out, i finally did today.
Watch the first three arcs, and i've completely been blown away by everything this show has to offer. I'll have to read everyone's thoughts from this thread once i've completed the show.

Second arc (Umibozu) is probably my favorite upto now because i like the interaction with the characters as the story was progressing. As for the third arc that i just watched (Noppera-bo) --- that was some heavy mind rape. I've heard that rewatching the arc will help me to understand more of it, so i'll have to do that tomorrow. & yeah, this is so my kind of show.

Ha, Ha, you didn't watch it already? I am rewatching it atm and I am somehow also regretting to not have done that sooner.
![]() The second arc Umi Bozou is the best arc for me too, the finale is just so beautiful, when the medicine seller transforms and the utsurobune sinks into the pond and decays and Oyous' soul finally unites with her brother. But the last one is also the best arc, you will see when you have watched it. ![]() SignorRossi. |

I have had this on my system since May this year (knowing it would be great, as Ayakashi is one of my most favorite anime because of Bakeneko). While the first arc was good, it was the second arc that truly blew me away. I was amazed at the very symbolic imagery and the beautiful contrast between the selfless and loving Oyou and the selfish and conceited Genkei. To die for one's god because of an impossible love was something simply beautiful to behold. It was sad that it was reciprocated with only selfishness ... but such beauty can be found in redemption. Wonderful, wonderful series - and I'm only still halfway.

I was browsing this site and came across this article on Japanese doctors . After browsing more through that site I found something quite similar to the show w.r.p. to Medicine Seller .
- First the sword , ancient doctors carried a ceremonial bakuto to accentuate their high status in society. As swords in Meiji restoration was outlawed . Doctor Taking Pulse ![]() - Secondly the medicine sellers costumes are quite similar to the Ainu . Medicine sellers appearance also matches Ainu people.

*is it ok to bump threads this old...?*
Just wanted to note that Mononoke is still so incredibly popular in Japan that they're now releasing a Blu-ray BOX set. (amazon, yesasia)
(No talk of a Western license though, unfortunately. Hm...there weren't ever any artbooks released, were there?) From what I can tell, other than the box design and the fact that it's Blu-ray, it'll be the same as the DVD-BOX set that was released in 2009, so perhaps the only people interested in this will be those, like me, who missed it back then?

Is it the Mononoke sequel, or the original Ayakashi Samurai Horror Tales? The graphic is from "Bakeneko," and the title has the word "ayakashi" in it? Having Amazon translate the page into English didn't help.
Wouldn't it be nice if the Japanese BD releases included English subtitles? Since we're both in BD region A, they'd be playable in R1.

CD Japan says it's region free. No subtitles, alas, and a bit pricey. Make that a lot pricey!
Blu-ray box set release from anime series "Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales" featuring 12 episodes from "Mononoke" and its previous story "ayakashi Bake Neko." Comes with a deluxe booklet. |
