Yeah, but it's an English-learning book for Jebus' sake! And it's called Moe-tan!

And it's so cute!

If they keep the same amount of Engrish as they did with the original English teaching book, this is definately a for sure watch!

So, no need for subtitles then?

Well, now that I think about it, I guess the engrish will require subbing more than the Japanese.

Hasn't anyone of you considered the possibility of an original animation story? Thinking of the anime as an adaptation of a vocabulary book is IMO nothing short of being ridiculous. They will probably borrow the characters featured in the vocab book and just make a new story with them.

My thoughts exactly. Make a storyline full of angst (not too much), add a guy or so for some romance, combine it with a plot twist and we're set to go ^_^

I'll much despise it if it's purely a magical girl storyline based anime. I'll probably still watch it if it is, because it's so cute ^^

ps: I've never checked the moe-tan vocab book, it is... let's say, helpful?

Here's a sample definition:

Compose: "The characters should be composed of childhood friends, girls with glasses, robotic maids and sisters."

Oh GOD this is going to be good! It's even more blunt than Lucky Star is at pointing out the shortcomings of the Moe trend.

That's a good thing. It's like all those Mecha parody shows that scorch the conventions of mecha (Nadesico, Goddannar, SD Gundam etc). Now it's time for the Moe trend to get its equivelant of a roast.

Basically I think the shows going to be awesome.

Okay consider this, Ink herself is supposed to be a 12th grader according to this website http://www.trevreport.org/moetrans.shtml, but the creators deliberately made her look like a preschooler. If that isn't an initial tipoff that the creators are screwing with the viewers on purpose and poking fun at loli trends, than I don't know what is.

If only I could find that sample audio file again. Ah yes here we go:

Well if 9th grade in Japan is 15 years old or so according to the Haruhi novels and Ink is in 12th grade, she would be 18-19 years old.

Haha, with all the merchandise that you've neatly gathered in your post, do you honestly believe the title mocks moe and exposes its shortcomings? Maybe in some twisted way it does mock other moe series, titles and merchandise lines, but not because of their nature, but because they just haven't achieved the level of moeness Moetan has.

It does both. It presents it, but makes fun of it at the same time. Kind of like a certain Lucky Star.

Lucky Star does? Well, that's a discussion for another thread, no matter how hard I disagree with you. But for Moetan, let's just wait and see. Like I said, the vocab books may not have much to do with the animation.

Don't you mean, "No matter how much with you"? Looks like Moetan is going to have to come into this thread and punish you for using improper semantics.

And while she's here, she'll have to rip you a new one for confusing a problem with semantics for a problem with sentence structure

I don't want to die, so hopefully I have a chance to correct this mistake:

Yeah, they never really brought up the concept of semantics in my high school. I'm assuming it has something to do with the the effective meaning of a word when used in a statement. Basically is the word being used the way it it is meant to be.

Now that I think of it, messed up sentence strucure would look something more like, "Drink tasted the Kaioshin Sama delicious and was it".

At which point Moetan would do whatever it is that she does.

And how dare you post only thumbnails, do I have to post the bigger scans myself?

Well it's obvious, I know already that spoilers don't save prevent from loading the images themselves
I'll post a few in this post once I find them back

Here are a few I found laying around in my images folder
Well technically, they're not all that big, but I just thumbnailed them all for the hell of it^^
I only posted the pictures where I was sure it was moetan, else I could have posted many POP pictures with girls that looks a lot like moetan due to the drawnstyle of the girls's face being kind of always the same (though I still believe this artist is really nice )
