...they're referring to the color of the Enforcer Class As. Groudn Forces use brown, which is what Fate wears in most artworks as a result of her TDY transfer to RF6. The black uniform is an Enforcer uniform.

Mayura is a friend of both Shinobu and Quint Nakajima. And knowing that there will be another Nakajima entering service soon, I think she'll be providing some off-side assistance and support in some situations to both Nakajima sisters. Not often, but still there

As for the rest, let's just say yes the Naaru objected, but they prefer to take the role of observers, and that all this is part of a grand plan that Kha, Sumire and VEDA put together which would bring about the best result without widespread chaos.

I can say that premature direct intervention on the High Council is not appropiate. And there will be twists and surprises that even VEDA never saw.

But more will be revealed in Rebuilt.

I see, so there is a reason for this.

Now I just gotta ask, is this also part of the canon timeline? That is, the Cleric Knight group and its relationship with both the Church and the High Council? If it is, I need to make a few changes on Gwen's profile.

Other standouts are Psycho Nagant and Leena Tokarev, who are in a friendship based on lust, seduction, crack, and lots of blowing crap up. And lots of groping and sekuhara of every girl nearby; Ivanovich and Chief have more than once had to rescue terrified girls from Psycho & Leena. (Who together are the biggest threats to the Aces and Forwards. )

Ko-Archer is Number 7, Settie, of the Cinque-gen Sentokijin. When the culling of Renault occured, she was pregnant with Tou's second child and even though she was a sentokijin, hormones still messed with her enough to cause her downfall.

That was the meaning behind her last words, "I've not been a good mother..." It refered to Kha, but it also was a double message that Tou picked up: She failed to protect their unborn child.

However, Jail managed to save the embryo that would become Settie, and watched her grow slowly in a tank, learning how does the Alhazredian cyborg systems replicate and hopefully discover the secret behind creating the perfect cyborg like Kia.

Later in StrikerS, Sette, upon discovering that she was going to be replaced by Settie, broke the tube and almost killed Settie if Tre hadn't intervened. That delayed Settie's return and there might have been permanent damage, so Jail abandoned plans to replace Sette on basis that "Settie's ruthlessness could've never equalled Sette's".

Number 7 is also the sentokijin with Slaughter Arms. Fitting for Ko-Archer, ne?

Even though Ko-Archer appears, I guess she isn't Kha's imouto, ne?

It may be justified defense, but it's conflict all the same. Conflict in which people get hurt, when everything is solved at the negotiating table anyway. The only times they aren't are wars of genocide, which is far too heavy for me to read about.

It's a personal thing.

To tell the truth, I'm disappointed that my earlier works were not subject to the kind of regulations in OC as there is now. As one can see, I've seen the sheer inaccuracy of my earlier works and decided to scrap them (not all, but most of them) completely.

And finally, I've mentioned before many times, starting from my very first post in this thread (which I hijacked and changed anyway), but in a lot of the works I'm seeing, there seems to be an inherent understanding that we know what significance certain references hold.

I have nothing against references, but I do have something against calling them references when they're actually crossovers. If you have to tell someone "go Google/Wikipedia it", then it's a crossover. If you have to copy-and-paste most of it from Wikipedia yourself, then it's a crossover.

Crossovers require knowledge of both (or more) series. I'm here because I expected MSLN stories with original characters, rather than MSLN/some mecha series I've never watched stories. I'll read the former, but will feel completely lost with the latter.

Agreed with the points there. That's one of the things that I try to do in my works, as readers are supposed to see them without getting confused or checking for references since they are integrated as cleanly as I could.

[Proton Cannon.] A large amount of energy gathered at the end of Reishiki’s barrel; a couple of inches from Hayate’s face.

First, word count exceeds Chapter Four (21K) by a healthy 4k, possible 5 - 6k by the end of the writing.

Second, the massive length indicates lots of text, and by that, it will possibly be difficult to follow. A lot of information, but since they're walls of text, so ... And again, no mystery solved as of yet, though I introduced more mysteries, so it'll still keep you guessing.

Don't underestimate me! I'll gobble it up while savoring the flavor!!!

Third, I think there will be a lot of questions going on, a lot of repairs to be made here and there, since a lot of conversations are made. I don't even know if they're ridiculous or rational, and the sheer length of several scenes will be mind-boggling.

I love character interactions. So no problem with me.

Fourth, character characterization related, Signum will probably come under a lot of scrutiny in this chapter, since I don't know whether she fits the canonical representation or not (a lot of combinations made, which may go haywire). Even Chrono, the Aces, and some seem wrong to me ... somehow.

Fifth, I apologize in advance if this chapter fails to meet expectations.

On a slightly cheerful note, I think a short synopsis of what GuardianS is about will be nice, similar to the previews we find at the back of DVDs. It'll give an overall gist of what is going to happen, though in the typical metaphorical sense, and also make it easier for newcomers to see if it suits their taste. What do you all think?

Well, you have a nice different point of view. Personally, I would attribute some of the weaknesses you mentioned to 7arcs' horrible storytelling, though.

As far as I see it, Nanoha and Fate are pretty much "flawless", since they do not have much room for further development, especially in terms of combat skills and power. They seem to have reached the top of their development curve, at least as far as canon is concerned (there wasnt much, if not any, development for both of them during StrikerS, which was the perfect time to give them some heavy development). We now see that the next phase of Nanoha's development will revolve around Vivio and how to be a good mama, for instance.

Good point about Fate's moral-psychological preparation for combat. She is an Enforcer, so she should have overcame such weaknesses long ago. Unfortunately, though, surely this was used as a mere plot device so the writers could include some dorama at this point of the series, and also to give a half-assed excuse for Fate to use her Sonic Form (or was it called something else?). Again, a weakness that could be attributed to 7arc's horrible storytelling.

That's why we can, and have to pick it up and improve upon it.

I made some changes to Caro's problematic Limiter Break using what I dreamed of originally, and from the suggestions made. Here's the sample:

LIMITER BREAK: Princess of Voltaire

A mark of a great summoner is the closeness he/she is to her chosen guardian, and the best summoner and summons fight side-by-side as one unit.

After summoning Voltaire, Caro gattai’s with Voltaire, jettisoning her Barrier Jacket completely and materializing on a special saddle within an undetermined location inside Voltaire, assumably in a closed reality within Voltaire's gem on his head. A better example of this saddle in action can be found within this ancient video of Midget and her friends using summon creatures when they were younger.

(I was forced to bring that design forward. Thanks to Nighty for the head gem idea, and of course Midget. )

This gives Caro the ability to share knowledge and boosts with Voltaire and at the same time allow Voltaire to protect Caro, allowing him to focus fully on the prey. And he needed to, as Lutecia did the same.

As the pilot of Voltaire, Caro can help Voltaire with whatever tricks she picked up from watching Kha and Erio practice, allowing her to wrestle Lutecia’s summons to the ground twice. They also gain access to several new skills:


Rastaban Beam - Energy beams are launched from the eyes, after Caro stammers the spell “Ra-ra-ra RASTABAN BEAMUU!!!”

Laevanteinn– Voltaire summons his blade from his tail by yelling, “Howl, Laevanteinn!”, then charges to attack.

Fire Breath – Voltaire blasts the enemy with a column of fire similar to a Divine Buster.

Scale Fire – Voltaire unleashes his scales like shurikens in all directions. They then catch fire and speed towards targets under his control.


Caro knows that Voltaire has a companion spirit, Ampere the White Tiger Queen, and after growing to trust Erio, she and Voltaire agree to choose Erio as Ampere’s bearer. However, the boy has to win the capricious spirit’s favor before she agrees to be in contract to Erio.

Voltaire noted that, at the end of his battle as he was returning to his astral plane, he commented that Caro had grown much stronger than when she first called him to make a contract, and someday, he hopes that she can use Dragon Soul Summon on bigger things. This makes her recall that Voltaire had another form, which the Elder called Shin-Voltaire, and she promised to the vanishing creature that she’ll strive to attain that, so he could once again “Voltaire can dance his dance in the sky.”

Later, when Erio proved his worth to Ampere, Erio, Caro, Ampere and Voltaire can gattai into a powerful, summon creature that no living person has seen, and that the Lu-Lushe villagers call by only one word out of sheer reverence:

Jin.

In martial combat, one requires physical strength and power to deliver the energy required for impact. The most basic spell for many Neo-Belkan practitioners, and also the easiest to learn, is the “Force” spell, which is a basic spell to externally enhance the wielder’s physical strength. This is achieved using a combination of external levitation (and in some cases, Midchilda-style Barrel Rings), which provide additional aid and support on a mage’s arms or legs. This grants a mage extra physical power in lifting heavy weapons, or further enhancing the power behind a strike.

Blast –

Another basic Neo-Belkan spell, “Blast” is a “static kinetic energy” spell applied at a weapon’s impact point, which multiplies the kinetic energy behind a physical blow without the requirement of adding extra momentum or mass. In combat this significantly improves the damage potential of a normally kinetically weak blow, like a punch.

Although the advantages are considerable, the Blast spell creates significant kinetic energy backlash at the item it is used on, whether a weapon or the mage itself. For this reason, application of this spell is most ideal on sturdy, blunt and dense objects with a large surface area on the impact point, like mallets, clubs and hammers, to better absorb and dissipate the backlash. Impact dissipation spells can also be applied to further reduce the backlash’s negative effects.

Sword –

The third of the basic spells, “Sword” is a “focus energy” spell, which enhances a cutting blade or piercing head by reinforcing the material integrity of the cutting area, and also by absorbing kinetic energy on impact and focusing it on the cutting edge. A blade enhanced by this spell can cut through extra-hard and reinforced objects with minimal effort, and this spell can be further enhanced by Force for improved results.

While Asagi specializes in the Sword spell, Mayura’s proficiency is in the Blast Spell, casting it to enhance the power of her kicks and punches, and in combination with Force Impulse spell her power is increased dramatically. This power is shockingly displayed in demonstration routines, with Mayura having been known create a “squash-head” effect through 10 inches of military-grade steel armor plate, where the powerful concussive impact from Mayura’s fist causes a large spalling of metal to rip and eject itself on the other side, and she has been known to pulverize up to 15-inches of solid concrete.

It is noted that Mayura requires her Gekichanger to perform these feats of power, using its Recoil Return ability to prevent her hand form taking too much damage. Even then Mayura takes great care in overpowering her Blast Impulse-enhanced attacks to minimize strain on her body.

Mayura is also proficient with the Sword Impulse spell, using it on her only bladed weapon, the Super GekiClaw, though with less efficiency than with her other impulse spells.

Kageki Impulse -

Asides from these three basic spells, Mayura has also created her own “Impulse” spell, using her experiences in being taught Midchilda-style magic during her early academy days. While it was discovered that she could cast powerful A+ rank Buster spells in the league of Divine Busters, she could not mold them coherently enough to be shot at long distance. Instead of being discouraged, Mayura persisted and discovered that she can alter the Buster spells to her own needs and adapted them to melee combat, thus creating what is now known as the ‘Kageki’ Impulse spell.

This spell is essentially a collection magic spell, where Mayura gathers charged leftover mana from the air through her fists or legs and condenses them into a highly-compressed state. This compressed mana is then explosively unleashed through a punch or kick, dealing devastating damage against most types of heavy magical and physical armor. And as a collection spell, Mayura can charge this spell beyond the maximum output and capacity of her own linker core, powering up Kageki Impulse to AAA+ rank power.

While this spell is the most powerful that Mayura wields, this spell is rarely used at full power for various reasons, primarily the taxing mana cost on Mayura’s linker core, and the long charging time required to prepare the spell. Though Mayura can significantly reduce mana cost and charging time through judicious use of cartridges, this puts even greater strain on her linker core and body, at times causing her lingering pain afterwards. There is also the massive explosive backlash, which is several times that of a fully charged Blast Impulse spell, and is far more than Recoil Return can take. Mayura has seriously injured herself several times in the use of this spell, and thus uses it only as a final weapon.

Geki Impulse –

While incredibly powerful the Kageki Impulse spell is far too powerful and dangerous to be used often, and its tedious preparation means it’s impractical in most high-speed close combat, and thus the Geki Impulse spell was created. The Geki spell has a much faster charging time than the Kageki variant, drawing mana directly from Mayura’s linker core instead of external collection. This improves speed and reliability at the cost of power, and the Geki spell is shown to be no more powerful than a charged Blast Impulse spell. Nonetheless the enhanced magical damage from this spell has been beneficial in many circumstances, and is used in place of Blast Impulse when fighting magical opponents, non-corporeal entities or incredibly strong physical enemies.

Jacket Purge –

While Mayura can switch between Barrier Jacket forms seamlessly, she can also use her jacket form changes for offensive purposes, by explosively detonating her barrier jacket in a burst of magical energy that can knock back surrounding enemies. Mayura typically performs Jacket Purge when changing into Noble Eagle form from Adventure and Roaring Dragon forms, as the latter two are much heavier, thus dealing more magical damage when detonated.

Interestingly enough, Mayura’s command for this spell is “Cast Off”, with the appropriate "Change Noble Eagle" voice response from her Accelullar ala Kamen Rider Kabuto.

Mayura rarely performs Jacket Purges from Noble Eagle form into her two other forms, but when she does her command changes to "Hyper Cast Off".

Like Asagi, Mayura’s proficiency with this spell is dismal, having only C-rank damage, and thus used only for non-magical enemies and distractions.

Standard Neo-Belka shield spell, used to deflect ranged attacks.

Protection –
Defense: B+

Standard barrier spell, used to defend against melee attacks and weapons.

Auxilliary Spells:

Sonic Move –
Proficiency: A

Standard Neo-Belka mobility spell which enhances the mage’s movement speed and agility in short one-second bursts, typically used in attack or evasion. While Sonic Move can be sustained for far longer periods, it puts gradually increased strain on the body the longer it is used, thus it is advised not to use this move for longer than 5 seconds at a time.

Mayura’s personal command for engaging this spell is “Hyper Clock Up”.

Sonic Drive –
Proficiency: A

A slower variant of Sonic Move, permanently active whenever Mayura engages Noble Eagle form. While 60% slower than its base spell, Sonic Drive can be sustained for several minutes at a time, and is less stressful on the caster’s body.

Boost Jump –
Proficiency: AAA
Range: - AA

Mobility spell, used to boost a mage’s jumping power. As Mayura can’t fly, this is her primary method of reaching tall places up to 75 meters high.

Reinforcement –
Proficiency: AA

This basic Neo-Belkan spell is a matter enhancement ability, used to improve the tensile strength, rigidity and overall durability of any solid item that the caster touches. The effect persists for as long as the object is in contact with the person’s hands during the duration of the spell. Mayura uses this spell to strengthen her weapons during extreme combat, though she does not sustain reinforcement for more than a few seconds to conserve on her magical stamina.

Extension –
Proficiency: S

Extension is an energy-matter conversion spell which increases the length of a staff weapon’s shaft. The extra length enhances the weapon’s reach, and also increases the power of vertical and horizontal strikes. Using this spell, Mayura can extend the length of her staff weapons to 20 meters, and with the Reinforcement spell she can maintain their stiffness and rigidity even at maximum length.

Soul Advent – Infinity Effects Studio
Proficiency: SSS

Of all the spells common to the Belkarangers, none is more bizarre and more unique than the Infinity Effects Studio, aka Soul Advent. Created by Julie Liu Ming, aka BelkaBlue, Soul Advent is a sophisticated magical program suite that specializes in real-time holographic illusion creation and manipulation, using image templates controlled by their primary device AI’s to minimize mana usage. With this program the Belkarangers can instantly materialize all manner of holographic special effects, from adding sparks to weapon impacts to colorful fireworks to massive fiery explosions and even complete animated logos out of nowhere merely by thought alone, useful for enhancing the group’s SUPER SENTAI TAMASHII image. While not terribly useful in combat, they have been used as distractions for various plans and split-second counters.

Each of the Belkarangers operate this program from their primary devices, in Mayura’s case her Gekichangers, and requires no further vocal incantations or passwords to activate.

History

Legend has it that the Cleric-Knights were founded on the order of the God Empress herself, at some point between the start of the Heresy and the events of the Second Founding when the God Empress disappeared, and the bloodline leading to the well-loved Sankt Kaiser came to power over all of the Holy Belka Imperiallum. Though it is uncertain about the details, it is thought that the Empress ordered the creation of a force designed to fight the daemons of Chaos. It was not until after the Heresy that a force specializing in fighting Chaos proved necessary.

Originally they were thought not to be descended from any of the original twenty Space Marine Legions, having been created from a unique gene-seed, rumored to come from the God Empress of Belka directly. This gift was responsible.

Designated Chapter 999, sharing the same number as the pages of the Tome of Devotion they represent and protect, the Cleric-Knights at first answered only to the Kaiser, but later, they were permanently attached by order of the last Sankt Kaiser to the trans-racial organization Celestial Being.

The Cleric-Knights are unique among the Space Marines as the only chapter to have full knowledge of the dark secrets of evil, be it Chaos, Alien or Heretic - they alone completely know of and understand the existence of Daemons and of their appearance in the real world, and they alone are best equipped to battle and defeat Belka's most terrible enemy. While other Chapters and Imperium forces have some knowledge of Chaos and how to fight them, only the Cleric Knights are privy to the darkest, deepest secrets known of all beings of evil and how to defeat them.

In the Chapter's long history until Belka's tragic implosion, the Cleric Knights hold the highest honor of all: not one Cleric Knight has ever turned to Chaos, been infested, or betrayed the Kaiser.

In MC 0071, Kha's remarkable victory in the Pilgrim Duels, the discovery of several individuals gifted with the Light of retribution and the subsequent recovery of the lost Tome of Devotion facilitated the refounding of the Cleric-Knights under the Saint Church, and remains the only overt branch of the long-forgotten protector of Ordered Space, Celestial Being.

Organisation

While the Cleric-Knights are technically members of the TSAB, they do not involve themselves with the ordinary activities of the Enforcers. They instead operate independently, working only on orders from, but not restricted to, the High Council and the Church Council, as well as a voice they all address as the "Light".

Rumor has it that this "Voice" is a massive supercomputer network scattered throughout Ordered Space using the most advanced form of Oracle computing to integrate current and past events to predict future events. This legendary machine codenamed "VEDA" has never been found, and the Knights fiercely deny it's existence.

Each successful recruit is given a suit of Knight's Aegis Armor and a Nemesis Force Device, and is assigned to a squad under the leadership of a Justicar. The Cleric-Knight can ascend to the position of Justicar, and then from this point may be awarded the Crux Terminatus of the Cleric-Knights (which would also be accompanied by a suit of thick-plated Tactical Dreadnought armour). Elite soldiers within the Terminator corps can be promoted to the position of Brother-Captain, or even to the position of Grand Master. Multiple Cleric-Knights may hold the rank of Grand Master at the same time, working together to guide the Chapter as a form of ruling council. At all times, a Grand Master of the Cleric-Knights holds a seat on the Church Council.

Headquarters

The Cleric-Knights' fortress-monastery is currently being constructed on the green Midchilda moon, Vida. This will eventually become home to the Tome of Devotion, the Belka's foremost repository of information relating to Daemons and Daemonology, and the bastion of Cleric-Knight power. It is currently in the hands of Grand Master Kha.

Although Vida is the Chapter's homeworld, squads of Cleric-Knights are scattered throughout the galaxy, in order to best respond to the threat of evil, wherever it may strike.

Unlike almost all other TSAB Forces, the Cleric-Knights do not follow normal tenants in the matter of force organisation. Due to the unique manner in which the Cleric-Knights are recruited and trained, each warrior progresses through a series of pre-ordained ranks and will operate in a particular squad led by an individual of higher rank rather than being assigned to a particular battle company. These squads may be called upon to act independently from the main body of the Cleric-Knight force, and have to operate at full efficiency even when light years away from the rest of their chapter. As such the leader of each Cleric-Knight squad is obeyed immediately and without question by those under his command.

Recruitment

Considering the role of the Grey Knights, potential recruits are put through even more stringent trials than other TSAB and/or Saint Church trainees. The recruits are drawn from across the galaxy as and where they are discovered and upon volunteering are whisked to New Antioch for testing.

The most advanced training techniques, equipment, and counselling are available to condition the Pages. Traditionally, each recruit must, through the course of the curriculum, pass the six hundred and sixty six Rituals of Detestation, to prove that he is capable of withstanding horrors that would break even the greatest of 'normal' Enforcers. But due to the lack of both time and numbers, a modified course similar to the TSAB Rangers program is used to give Cleric-Knight pages their basics before they enter the quest-related Belka Knight accreditation system, after which they can attempt clearing the Rituals. Only those who have completed all trials can be considered to be promoted to Terminators.

One of the main criteria for selection is that the recruit must show great magic potential, as the entire Chapter is made up of Convocators who's mana affinity is that of the divine Light.

Once accepted into the chapter and undergoing the standard process to convert into a member of the Saint Guard, the new Cleric-Knight is enchanted with hexagrammic and pentagrammic purity wards that cover his entire body. These are invisible to the naked eye, but at the Cleric-Knight's will, these will project the powerful "Warding" field, making him a harder target to harm.

Unlike 'normal' TSAB mages, Cleric Knight pages are awarded a suit of Aegis Armor, a consecrated device (if they don't already have one) and are immediately pressed into service. They then move through the ranks as detailed above. This is likely due to their few numbers.

Combat Doctrine

Most engagements will involve a single squad of Grey Knights supporting an Naval Enforcer, or a local force. For the most serious incursions, several squads of Cleric-Knights are collected around the presence of a senior Brother-Captain, or even a Grand Master. In these circumstances, tactical squads will attempt to establish a beachhead in the tainted area, before the Terminators and senior Enforcers teleport down to the surface and engage the difficult bogey.

The very presence of Cleric-Knights upon the field of battle is painful to Daemons and their kin. The divine purity and sonorous chants of detestation repel the daemonic and make it hard for them to maintain a grip in the physical universe. This means that Cleric-Knights gain immense advantages against Chaotic opposition, but the high expense of an individual Cleric-Knight leads to its own tactical problems - for all their power, Cleric-Knights will always be badly outnumbered and must focus upon fast application of force.

The Cleric-Knight force also contains a high proportion of troops who can teleport into battle, a high-risk maneuver which can turn the tide of a battle if deployed well.

Equipment

As the Cleric-Knights are an elite chapter engaged in fighting Daemonic infestation, they have access to specialised equipment not available to other forces. These range from the stereotypical enchanted crosses to state of the art Cardinal transport helicopters that have been consecrated and refitted with powerful ultralite field generators and ECM to the indomitable relic from the past, the Landraider Crusader.

Cleric-Knights, due to their very varied weapons curriculum, may also utilise standard TSAB Devices or equipment, although this is much rarer and is usually only in rather sudden emerging emergencies.

Nemesis Force Devices

These are sanctified Force Devices, usually taking the form of a sword, halberd or spear. Sometimes a rare Nemesis hammer or mace will appear, though Nemesis weapons can take the form of any close combat weapon. Each is consecrated and anointed with sacred oils, divinely charged, and inscribed with religious scripts that are anathema to Daemons.

Newer Nemesis Force Devices, due to recognition of Gunslingers and other ranged magic subschools like bows and crossbows, have taken the form of anything from longbows to staves to rifles. Most notable is the sentokijin Justicar Foy Rokker, whose entire body is a Nemesis Force Device.

Like all Force weapons available to the sacred warriors of Belka, the power of the weapon itself directly corresponds to the divine talent of the wielder, and as the Cleric-Knights are some of the greatest Diviners known, the Nemesis Force devices are truly devastating weapons in their hands.

Because of this, the entire chapter is able to wield these, and so every member is a hero in his own right. However, due to the inexperience of younger recruits, the Nemesis Force Device is limited to lower ranks before being issued, and so will be weaker in terms of strength than their higher level counterparts. As the recruits rise in range, so will the limits be removed. This makes the weapon effectively "evolve" as the bearer progresses through the ranks and masters the weapon.

In the hands of a Grand Master, these Force Devices are some of the strongest in Ordered Space. For example, Kha's Tausend Kreuz is more than capable of beheading a Nurgle Daemon Prince or a Hive Tyrant with a single cut.

Aegis Armour

The Cleric-Knights unique suits of magical plate armor and Terminator-rank plate armour are incredibly well crafted; anointed and inscribed with prayers and wards, ritually consecrated and magically charged. Working in tandem with the Cleric-Knights' formidable divine powers, the Aegis Armour protects the wearers from the corrupting effects of infestation and the Immaterium. The armour's ritual blessings and sacred resonance also serve to confound the perception of any enemy, resulting in an effect called the Shrouding.

As well as its sacred properties, the armour itself incorporates a Stormbolter which, when combined with the skill of the Knights themselves, can be used with equal effectiveness in both ranged and melee combat.

The Libram of Devotion

A copy of this book, its contents drawn from material taken from the Tome of Devotion along with the battle rites of the Cleric-Knights, is carried into battle by every single Cleric-Knight in his hammerspace-like Lunar Fold. Like the Tome, the Knight has to pre-load spells into his Nemesis Force device prior to meeting combat, such that a well-planned Knight only has to materialize the Tome in events that he has not forseen.

Ships

Like other TSAB forces, the Cleric-Knights' primary mode of transportation is the Class VII strike cruiser. However, the Cleric-Knights' ships are specially modified in several ways. One is the hexagrammic and anti-daemonic wards that are built into the entire ship from bridge to landing struts and every bulkhead in between, similar to those that are magically etched into the skin of the Cleric-Knights themselves, that lend the ship added protection from the forces of Chaos.

Also, the Cleric-Knights' strike cruisers are equipped with significantly more advanced armour than the ships of other TSAB forces. This is to allow them to close with more powerful foes and reach their destination safely, since the Cleric-Knights must fight more powerful enemies than the standard TSAB force.

Finally, the landing and drop pod bays are enlarged to be able to deploy larger numbers of Knights faster.

The modifications to their ships are made possible by two factors. The first is their ideological headquarter's location in New Antioch, allowing access to technology that was forgotten or is impossible to replicate anywhere else in the Inner Space. This also explains the high quality of all their equipment. The other reason is the resources that the High Council gives the Cleric-Knights due to their various acolates won during the baptism of fire in the Pilgrim Duels, the amount of public goodwill, as well as their pledge to locate, retrieve and consecrate the Sankt Kaiser's Cradle.

(That third reason is supposed to act as an insurance against the increasingly erratic Jail Scagletti, which eventually paid off. Too bad the High Council wasn't around ti realize one of their choices were right.)

Abilities of the Cleric-Knights

The Cleric-Knights have many abilities that TSAB grunts lack.

Spells in the Libram of Devotion

These are based on divinity, are quoted from the Libram they carry and work on a gestalt principle. These skills as such are common to all Cleric-Knights, and work on top of whatever skill they have already acquired, making the proverbial mountain of skills anything but typical of a Cleric-Knight.

Basic Combat Teleportation Proficiency

A Cleric-Knight is able to blink through distances by temporarily opening a directed path through the Warp with his faith. This allows him to literally jump from safety and into the thick of combat, not to mention the deadzones of mages, very quickly. As a Cleric-Knight grows in strength, so does his mastery of this skill.

The Shrouding

Through prayer, illusion magic and the combined gestalt power of the Cleric-Knights, they are able to blind their enemies with their sheer faith. For an enemy to fire upon a Cleric-Knight, he must first determine if he can spot the unit.

Kha is able to use this ability and his traced Force Silhouette spell to render himself completely undetectable even to the advanced senses of Uno.

Ward Field

A secondary defence field provided by the Light that is activated by focus on the Cleric-Knight's part. A low level of alertness augments the passive field defence a normal mage has, and higher levels increase defence but at the same time weighs down on the Knight's stamina. This is the reason why Cleric-Knights are harder to damage, and are unaffected by AMF.

Divine Inquisition

Several times a day, a Cleric-Knight can call upon the Naaru to stun all the guilty around him and temporarily put them in a "penitent" state, allowing him to exact judgement. A Knight of higher rank and divinity can call upon this offensive divine intervention more times, but there is a chance that the Naaru ignore the Knight's call, especially if he is wrong in judgement.

Ranks

The Cleric-Knight hierarchy is drastically different from TSAB Forces.

Battle Brother: The standard gray knight. Equipped not only with the famed Aegis suit, the standard armament of a Cleric-Knight includes a wrist-mounted Lanstar Bolter of perfect craftsmanship and the Nemesis Force Device. Each weapon is unique to its owner having been attuned to his particular psychic signal. They can take the form of a Halberd, Sword, Axe, Hammer, Mace, Maul, Scythe, Morning Star or even a Gun, Bow, or Crossbow. Newly accepted battle brothers will be inducted into fresh squads led by a Justicar, eventually developing their abilities in leadership, weaponry, psychic ability and armed/unarmed combat. Upon demonstration of above average ability in one of these areas they take their place in either the assault Teleport, heavy Purgation squads or become Justicars themselves to lead new batches of recruits.

Justicar: Justicars are the leaders of the latest recruits to the Cleric-Knights. This is the first step on the path to becoming a Grand Master. Justicars also lead Terminator squads, although such leaders are usually referred to as 'Brother Captain' (more detailed below).

Terminator: The battle-brothers wearing Terminator soul-forged plate armor are the elite of the Cleric-Knights. In addition to possessing greater armor, they also use their divine powers actively as opposed to passively in combat. They also have the same special weapons options - Macrowave and Lanstar Bolter(although they are wrist-mounted rather than two handed) - as their younger battle-brothers but some exceptionally strong Knights may wield thunder hammers and storm shields.

Brother-Captain: Usually the leader of a Cleric-Knight Terminator squad, he may also be the force commander. Like his brethren, he wields a Nemesis Force Device in combat, and also possesses considerable divine powers.

Grand Master: The highest rank attainable by a Cleric-Knight, a Grand Master is - by virtue of his esteemed rank - a member of the Church Council. A master daemonslayer, the Grand Master always wears Terminator soul-forged plate armor, though the number of layers may vary, and wields a force device in combat, and is also a powerful Divine Convocator. Few, if any, Daemons have been able to stand against a Grand Master and survive.

Fourth, character characterization related, Signum will probably come under a lot of scrutiny in this chapter, since I don't know whether she fits the canonical representation or not (a lot of combinations made, which may go haywire). Even Chrono, the Aces, and some seem wrong to me ... somehow.

Fifth, I apologize in advance if this chapter fails to meet expectations.

That's about it.

On a slightly cheerful note, I think a short synopsis of what GuardianS is about will be nice, similar to the previews we find at the back of DVDs. It'll give an overall gist of what is going to happen, though in the typical metaphorical sense, and also make it easier for newcomers to see if it suits their taste. What do you all think?

1) The functionality can be duplicated by a sufficiently powerful mage using Precia-type Dimension Jump attacks. In fact, that's another path to a long range weapon - create a Star Trek TR-16 rifle.
2) TC is facing the dilemma of all people with at least a little tactical knowledge trying to develop something new in the Nanoverse. His weapon is not really particularly powerful. It is that engagement ranges and speeds in the Nanoverse are horribly short.
3) This is (almost) fine if all combat is magic or pseudomagic (Inherent Skill), but by now, this OC thread is having people come into intermittent contact with conventional weapons users (Erusia, OFM). Even a half-*ssed civilization like ours can easily make weapons that outrange and outspeed known Nanoverse magi-weapons (even a crossbow can shoot a bolt to a range outside of normal mage combat and the bolt probably flies faster too).
4) So how do you keep the Nanoverse competent. OPFOR Conventional weapons that are degraded to range and speed performances below our current level would be an insult to our SoD. So, the OPFOR must use weapons with at least similar range/speed performance to Terran, and that gives them a huge advantage over almost all mages. So you create a new magiweapon to keep up, and any competitive magiweapon will automatically look h3xx in range/speed performance. But it is not h3xx, it is the TSAB that is unrealistically weak in those areas. To create a "consistent" weapon means to bury his conscience and SoD and knowingly create a weapon that will be at a horrible disadvantage versus conventional tech.
5) He really did try to incorporate some strict limits to the weapon. As he pointed out, it could be used only against a very predictable target at its RMAX. Its really only very good to 2km (one-second flight time). He could easily have added a homing ability (which, even if it slowed down his round, is likely to make it even more deadly overall). He could have used teleportation, or as someone suggested, use magic to form a true laser.

Rare Skill, "Dragon's Heart": No.47 has the innate and passive skill to regenerate any physical wound (besides decapitation). Most wounds heal in minutes, or even seconds. Limbs take longer to regenerate and organs longer still. However this skill hemorrhages mana and also accelerates her metabolism.
Spells
Dragon's Feet: A speed-enhancer that boosts No.47's already quick speed.
Bloody Claw: A physical attack using Nei that charges it to break barriers. Expends a cartridge.

For example, if 99% of the foreseen shoots with this rifle will be to 5km or less, the TTR is likely to write the requirement as only for a particular hit rate at 5km.
4) The weapon will then be made to reliably fulfill the TTR. Any extra capability it has will be coincidental to those capabilities created to fulfill the TTR. For example, if the requirement says the "ability to fire to 5km", then it'll only shoot to 10km if it'll require no more complexity and cost than a rifle that can shoot to 5km. Or maybe the ability to shoot to 10km 50% of the time is equivalent to the ability to shoot to 5km 100% of the time. Then the rifle will be designed for 5km, and you can shoot it to 10km and have it work half the time, but they won't go to the extra expense to make the rifle shoot to 10km 100% of the time.
5) In short, considering the geometric increase in the difficulty of the target acquisition and fire control problems when shooting to 20km, it is enormously unlikely the gun will have a 20km capability if it is foreseen that "nearly all" its shoots are 300-5000m.

To take an example from real life: The Barrett .50cal, aka the Light Fifty, firing the .50BMG round, a Holy Round, designed by Saint Joh Moses...I'll just get to teh point.

The M82 can shoot targets up t0 1600 meters and hit, and kill them. However, the Army specified an engagement range of 800 meters. M82/M107 operators in Iraq thus employ their rifles at those ranges. However, current doctrine is 800 meter ranges. Beyond that it CAN hit but not all the time/reliably. The primary requirement was to engage targets at 800 meters - this was achieved. The 1600 meter range is a bonus.

Or consider the M2 .50cal MG. It can be used as a sniping weapon... but the primary role is that of an MG and that's how it's employed/designed.

If you absolutely MUST have a range of 5km as main engagement range, then 10km max range. No more.

Also, the scope ought to be quite large/bulky. There is a difference between handheld sensors and ship sensors.

A fictional example of railgun: M99 Stanchion from Halo: Contact Harvest. Fires a railgun at greater range than the SRS99C, but needs a power supply, is large, and is a bitch to carry; it's only been seen plugged into a battery/generator in HGN and mounted to Hornets in Contact Harvest.

The canon timeline is a little blurred now, but yeah this set up should persist.

The Cleric-Knights chapter aren't very big. There's a current StrikerS total of about 1 page in training per AW, with Gimmy, Foy, Hiro and Taiyo being the only ones finished the basic training and most of the Trials. As Justicars, they assist Charlie and Kha with instruction if they are around.

3) They aren't going to go phwing-phwing-phwinging all over the room like Nightcrawler or Mai can. Teleportation is initiated by a prayer, can they can delay casting by not finishing the prayer until the maximum limit. But due to the chanting and mental focusing onto a destination, it is better for the Knights only use it outside of combat to teleport into combat. Once in, they just jet, thruster and fly.
