Great news, I'll be looking forward to BSS's release next week, but many thanks to SEES for stepping into the breach until the BSS announcement.

Episode 8 was fantastic in just so many ways.

Let me add another round of applause for all the subbing teams on this show. Thanks to you all.

Itsuki-sensei would be out of a job faster than you could blink in an American university, especially one of the large state univeristies with an emphasis on agriculture. They're among the most conservative secular campuses in the country.

I didn't vote in the best fanservice category in Kyomi's "best of 2007" thread, but I'm pretty sure I know one series I'd nominate for 2008. It works so well because it's just suggestive enough without showing anything naughty. Not to mention everyone involved is old enough that you can cheer them on. This montage was especially priceless. (Muto would be happy to hear that a teen-aged female guest in my home saw this picture and thought that, while they all were hot, Muto was definitely the winner.) In episode nine we get to see a very different Hasegawa. Quite the model of elegance.

The one thing that seems to be lost in all this is Sawaki's ability. It hasn't really played much of a role for quite a while now. I keep waiting to see how, or if, they're planning to go somewhere with that "million-dollar man" theme they had early in the show.

I also like how the microbes have been converted into a Greek chorus over the past few episodes, especially episode 8. They just observe the idiotic humans and laugh among themselves.

Time to find that missing episode ten subtitle file. I've watched three episodes today already and can't wait to see how it ends.

Downloading them as we speak (looks okay), I'll treat them and SEES releases as speedsubs once BBS does it proper. But the effort *IS* much appreciated.

Woah is it wrong for me to say that,
Spoiler for episode 9:

Also apparently most of the exterior shots of the university is based on the University of Coimbra in Portugal, which explains the flag of the university looks similar to the flag of Portugal. That bugged me for quite a while.

Interesting. So the flag is no accident? Are there comparison pictures somewhere?

EDIT: Oh, I should have asked the all-knowing Trash Heap first. The internet has the answers. Convincing enough.

Even the Wiki article on Coimbra (city) got a picture.
The tower in the picture does look familiar doesn't it? Checking and comparing with pictures on the actual university article should reveal more similarities I guess.

What a great show! The final episodes really provided a sense of closure to the events portrayed, yet left open lots of possibilities for future development. So far the only Noitamina series to get a second season is, I believe, Honey and Clover. But, who knows, maybe Moyashimon will spawn a sequal the way Mononoke was spun off from Bakeneko. Risaa tells me my little microbe friend over there on the left is a big star in Japan this year.

I also think this is one of the best shows I've seen from GONZO. It's obviously not as deep or demanding as Welcome to the NHK!, but the story certainly held my interest throughout. Also the microbes in both their 2D and 3D representations have to be among the most appealing anime characters I've seen in quite a while.

where do you get that this was a Gonzo show? Gonzo only did the CG for the microbs and that is it, they didn't have anything else to do with the show. Heck, their contribution was so small that the only way you can tell they did something was during the ending credits.
