Really at the moment I think that networks think it is a niche thing and therefore in order to appeal to the largest audience and sell the most airtime to commercials they only show what they think is popular (not niche stuff sadly), therefore in that sense gundam on US networks is a lost cause yet if enough people buy the dvd's and such I believe that networks will realize that although gundam is a niche thing it is a pretty common niche.

Well, there's no doubt that Cartoon Network could have handled Seed better, but their hands were sort of tied by Bandai's stipulations. While Cartoon Network does have a fairly restrictive BS&P, it's unfair to apportion all of the blame to them. There's a fair bit of fault to go around, and Bandai itself is responsible for a lot of them - the toy fiasco is a case in point.

The whole thing was turned into a mess, I can't blame any particular place (CN or bandai or even sunrise) but still, they could have done it differently, here's my spin, later on saturday nights would have been good but then again what do I know about the placement of programs on late night tv.

Disco Guns were the least of Seeds problems! Take into account, Nudity, Language, and pacing amongst other things.

I'm not sure how your argument is supposed to work. Are you saying that it was impossible for Gundam Seed to succeed in the U.S. because of those factors? After all, it was very successful in Canada, and the two countries should be fairly similar in terms of potential audience.

cause of that gs series was screwed by u.s. tv by the FCC's rules.

Yeah, but the FCC still allows channels to show commercials with people spray-painting hair on their heads! That's pretty damn damaging.

If the Gundam Series were more avaliable in stores I'd go out and buy them . . . . . sadly even Gundam Seed is hard to find an entire series in one whole piece . . . oh well I guess I'll have to by it online.

I still remember the good ole' days on Toonami when G Gundam, MS 08th team and Gundam Wing were on all the time. Unfortunately that is not the case anymore and I was too busy to see Seed on tv when it aired and I missed it.

I really hope the Gundam series is not a lost cause in the U.S. I'd be super bummed out I know a lot of Gundam fans at my college so it obviosly it can't be failing in the U.S. becasue of a lack of fan support . . .

who wouldn't be bummed out.
I'm just saying things that are happening the way I see it, and unfortunately networks are treating gundam like its got no place on them even though the fan base is of a pretty decent size.

yeah it is a bummer, I don't know about you all but I like the Gundam series overall and seeing it die slowly in the US is not cool at all. Even if the Gundam series dies away I'll still be a fan of it
