i dont know about mysterious, cause zoro is also mysterious for me, but she is definitely the coolest of the crew. i dont remember her doing something stupid or act silly like her crewmates. she definitely gives the mature aura in the crew.

Does that make her the "Den mother" of the group?
Then again, Nami is pretty serious by Strawhat standards.

Saying what you said is like saying that she's a burden as a character. And the events between Water 7 and Eines Lobby was bad enough for her.

I should point out that her powers are NOT, I repeat, NOT to be underestimated. If Robin heard what you said about her, she'll use her powers to crack your spine. She is afterall skilled as an assassin.

< Let's see you top that!

Weird, you are the very first person who thinks her ability is weak.

For some reason, there's alot of people who think she's the contender of the strongest female in One Piece and until Hancock shows what she can really do, she's still up there.

Is an ability strong only if it can cause explosions and break walls?

Robins ability also comes as one of the most practical abilities out there, usable in any situation.

she doesn't use her power hardly ever! she uses it to rescue people, to trip people, and to restrain people.

She uses her power inefficiently. What is the point in luffy wasting his time away with hard enemies (enel, or even other people) when robin could just snap their necks or spines? it's stupid. She could handle a lot more powerful people if she wanted too, she just doesn't! she's too calm all the time. She could at least counter this flaw by being the strong silent type who 'delivers judgement' (kinda like kuma), but she doesn't! I jsut don't see the reason for her to be in the crew. She doesn't provide much of anything...

LOL, you probably don't know you're contradicting yourself.

You think she hardly use her powers and yet you can point out that she uses it to rescue, trip, restrain.

Like I said, which you probably didn't understand as well, she has one of the most practical abilities out there and she used it with amazing efficiency. Which you are totally blind to, because you think an ability is only good in battle.

And for your battle examples, you bring up Enel of all people, lol. Can Robin snap Enel's neck? No. Wait, nobody on Sky Island could defeat him except Luffy, I see, that's the problem.

Actually I shouldn't waste anymore time arguing with you over this, you can just stay blinded to all of her contributions if you want to. You totally can't see or understand Robin's importance and contributions at all. Nope, none, I don't see that you'll understand anything.

yes... cause we know snapping a df user in half would do much... oh wait she does do that... and yeah she gets owned like everyone else as a result (see aojiki/moria).

Robin - provideds a direct link with the dark side of the WG (most of the the corrupt WG officers in the beginning of the series were not exactly high up or evil compared to the CP9), direct link with the Void history, direct link with ancient writings, direct link with the forbidden weapons. In short she allowed a whole series plot/historic based events to be introduced in the story as well as a 2nd level headed character that doesn't have any major weaknesses.

She does use her power effectively however if you didn't notice it's nowhere near as a effective against most of the enemires she ends up against (against typical humans see what happens in the arabastia arcs) and it is shown pure strenght can overcome her ability even with restraints (see moria's zombies).

So she's the plot-device of the crew? Whenever someone tries to point out her use, italways winds up being plot, and nothing else. I suppose it's a good thing, but a little unrealistic for the strawhats to want to keep her around, no?

That can be said of anyone, though.

I suppose not, but it's a good enough reason for Oda to keep her around. She's a good source of information, but most of her tangents she finds herself running off on are more beneficial to the audience than the Strawhats. Even her occupation as the sole surviving reader of ponyglyphs will lead to this eventually.

Still, odd as it is, has anyone else realized that Robin is the only memberof the Strawhats that formally requesed to join the crew? The fact that she willingly went along without being asked by Luffy is probably what makes her the most unique member just from a symbolic point of view.

And besides, even if Robin has no concrete use to the crew, I doubt that Luffy himself would really care. He asked Gaimon to join and the man had no practical use what-so-ever.

That one bit of iformation led me to aa certain hypothesis, but I'm not sure if I'll be flamed for it or not. What if Robin were a spy?
Well, maybe not a spy, but her loyalties seem a little questionable because of this. I get the feeling that she might betray them at some point.

except they had a entire arc to prove her loyalty, so having her betray them again would be a terrible plot device.

She is pretty much there information specialist as she knows alot more about the situation of the world/lore/events then the other crew members, she's also intelligent and non judgemental.

Personally she's a fine addition to the crew and i don't understand the hate so many of you have for her.

The probem is that her power, although original, versaltile and really cool (at least in my humble opinion....) is a complete "gamebreaker". Thanks to her power it is almost impossible for her to have challenging fight, either the enemy is somehow immune to her ability (logia df, body changing parmencia like Luffy or Mr. 1 or simply ridiculous inhuman strenght and endurance) and she is completly screwed becouse there is nothing else she can do or the enemy isnt immune to her ability and she pretty much insta-wins becouse she can break his back before he does 3 steps...
This is the reason I really doubt she will get any "battle screentime", or powerful opponent in 1v1 battle. Which is kinda pity, I really would like to see featured her more in action, even as a support in serious 2v2 or 3v3 team battles...

Somewhat in relation to Lizard's post about a worthy opponent for Robin, but me and Otseis have had a conversation concerning how her ability would match up with Buggy's. I mean, he can seperate any of his body parts, so if Robin were to grow an arm out of his person, would he be able to simply detach it?

And then there's my theory on Trafalgar Law I posted a few pages back...

Well, the body parts she creates are still parts of her body, just attached to someone else and Buggy can only split only his own body so, unattaching her arms/etc she sprouted on him is probably impossible. But I even so I dont see her ability work very well against him- I mean how the hell do you want to effectively grabble him, or hold him down? I think that if he would fought seriously (that means not losing track over some of his body parts and then getting kicked into nuts or tickled to death like how it happend in his fight vs Luffy/Nami) he would win, and quite easily too.
