As for the manga's storyline change, well... let the continued whitewashing Kira commence. *sigh*
As in, "let's make Kira into his Destiny incarnation", much like how in the Blu-Ray releases of ROTJ, made Darth Vader on par with his "Whine-akin Skywalker" incarnation when he shouted "NOOOO~!"?

So shouting "Nooooooooo!!!!" at the loss of a loved one automatically puts you on the level of a whiner?

Really man? Not cool

So i'm finally through rewatching the SEED specials, seeing as it was 10years ago i watched them.

So i was curious about the non coherent writing of Destiny.
Especially this Destiny Plan and our so called heroes.
Unless i completely missunderstood it, the plan was basically to have your genes tell you what you were most suitable as. And this was bad how? There was no hint that this would be enforced with guns ala dystopian future where if you didn't take your job you would be shot or similar. Of course our bland evil guy had to do some major obvious evil thing eventually and used the array at the moon base, but that was later.

And Durandall, why didn't they reveal his motives? I assumed they were going to reveal them through Rey like they did with Athrun and his father, but that didn't happen either.
And why did he not introduce the Destiny plan in a more patiently way?

And i loled at Scandinavia having refused it, we would be one of the first to take it in.

That's what I just said.

It was hinted that it would be government-enforced. You see the promotional animation where the guy was displaced from his position. And Durandal explicitly thinks anyone who opposes the plan is an enemy of humanity.

There was nothing good about Destiny Plan. Even if it were not enforced.

What you do in society is almost entirely based on what you enjoy (a huge part of which is dependent on your environment, not your genes), and society's demand for a certain skillset.

Using genes (which is the by-product of past experience of the species) to dictate future is counter-productive in evolutionary paradigm. The environment changes, and thus the genes that survived over from the past are always outdated.

Just to add in, his motives were foreshadowed. The most memorable was in the recap with rau.

Isn't what you are good at related to your genes at some level?

Hm, it's true that they are outdated. There was a lot of things they should have explained it seems. Because from what the show tells you it's just that the genes will tell you what job you should have. Nothing bad per say, from experience i would rather have a job i was good at than not.

It was also heavily implied that the Destiny Plan would control relationships for the sake of avoiding sterile couples like Durandal and Talia.

Durandal never says this but all he ever thinks about when doing his "People suffer because they strive for something that could never be so they should know their fate from the start of their lives and not waste emotional investments on things that can't happen."speeches(which are what he says the Destiny Plan is for) is his failed relationship with Talia which fell apart because regardless of how much they loved each other they weren't genetically compatible. So that was clearly his motivation for thinking it up in the first place.

And meddling in stuff like that is just wrong.

Oh yes, the non pregnancy, i wonder why they didn't include that in the special edition. Needless to say, the destiny plan wasn't explained enough which rendered every action after its introduction sort of meaningless. And it was only mentioned for a couple of minutes. Blargh, the poor writing is making me upset now, i probably shouldn't discuss this anymore xD

What else is there to explain about destiny plan though? Controlling people through genes is not a fictional concept

So let say there's a company that would sell the service to you. Meaning finding out what you would be most suited to work with and most likely be happy with.
That would sell quite a lot.

Now, Durandall doesn't say anything about controlling the population with it at first. So it would probably have been voluntarily. It is later that he decides to use the weapon, adding the enforcing factor.

And what if you're currently successful in your career, and then this Destiny Plan was implemented and it tells you that someone else was better for your job?

Again, look at the promotional video. It shows someone being forcibly replaced from their current job.

Essentially, with the Destiny Plan, someone else will determine what you are suited for, based on your genes, without taking into account your personality/will/desire.

Also, what if the thing you are "most suitable" for in accordance to your genes is in low demand? Or is something that you become physically or psychologically incapable of doing?

And what of those people stuck in the shit jobs thanks to their genes? The people who are forced to do the most demanding, least thankful jobs no matter how brilliant they are? People will want a better life for themselves and they won't be allowed to do so. People dream, and the Destiny Plan has no substitute for people's dreams.

It's just not compatible with the human mindset. It won't work even if Durandal managed to implement it.

You miss the point, no one would enforce it, it would be completely voluntarily.

@monster , there's no promotional video in the special edition

Says who? Durandal was fully willing to destroy an entire country for opposing the plan. If it was "completely voluntary", Durandal wouldn't have gone to war against ORB for opposing it, nor would ORB have had legal right to attack the PLANTs' government and military for its implementation. No, the Destiny Plan was very much going to be enforced.

Except for the fact that Durandal would use one of two doomsday weapon to make sure nations would "agreed" to follow the Destiny plan.

You miss the point again, i'm discussing this from a writer's/real-life point of view.
Sorry for not being clear enough
