I agree. Uniquely useless...

Inoue needs to realize that not every one is a fighter. There are other ways she can be there. Her powers of healing are important enough. She needs to stop worrying over the things she cannot do and concentrate on what she can. If she did she would never have done something so selfish and risk her friends lives. *She should have known that by going she would be putting them in danger* No she wanted to confirm her importance to Ichigo.

When did I say she was self-confident? Don't put words in my mouth and hear what you want to hear. I've always said her self-confidence is her weakest point.

And you misinterpet her desires again. She wants to be strong enough where people won't have to get hurt protecting her anymore. Its been evident since she got her powers protecting Tatsuki.

You can deny her unique character all you want. You still won't be able to give me a character that is equivalent to her.

You are doing exactly the same with your Orihime fanatism.
Can you please stop attacking me and disprove my argument instead of going with the weakest one "you are stupid/biased/fanboy/fangirl/obssesed/shipper/fatanic" and all these stuff.
It's a bit offending. It's not like I'll go emoing over that for years but still
sorry, too much stuff happens to me later.

I'm not talking about POWERS but personality. Make difference.

Oh, my bad. Anyway, you said it yourself. Her self-confidence or training... neither actually help her character's development. It's a shame, really. How is she going to grow, then? What is her strongest point?

It was the beginning of Bleach...for only one chapter. Her bond with Tatsuki and desire to fight for her is not as great now. She is always focused on K-kun. Always. It has been like this since the end of KK-arc (I so, so, so hope she's began changing in the recent chapters).
I agree, she doesn't want to be protected (nor does Rukia, Ichigo and a lot of other personages in Bleach). It, however, doesn't make her stronger. She is still being protected and even ordered around by the one who she wants to be equals with.

Equivalent? Let's see...in regards of her powers... Hachi has the same abilities...I assume that Tessai does, too.
In regards of being a human with unusually high reiatsu and powers... Chad?
So, where is uniqueness?

Usotsukiiiiiii! Come on, give her a little bit of credit... She doesn't even have the brains to come up with those kinda motives.

Playing the victim is getting a bit old. You even said people don't harass you on this forum but on another forum. And one of your replies to my previous post was lame, so it's time for payback:

LOL. Don't take it too seriously, I just had to use that picture for something. Anyway, if you're talking about Orihime's personality, I've found her a bit drab lately too. But those arn't her natural traits, just like you wouldn't count Rukia's persona during her imprisonment as the 'real' Rukia.

I guess i'm confused at what everyone is talking about. Inoue is unique. Ok but in what way? If we are talking about powers, yeah i say she is pretty unique in that aspect. I don't know anyone else that "reject" things back to an original state. (Though Hachi has similar powers). I actually think that Chad's powers are more interesting then hers; but thats just me. In the terms of personality i don't think she exhibits anything unique not remotely. I think just about everything about her is cliche' from her initial characterization to her current character development. Now, i don't think that is necessarily a bad thing. Shounen anime and manga are formulistic in their approaches. I think the issue comes from execution of those cliches of which Bleach suffers. (There are many things about ichigo's personality that are cliche so it isn't just inoue) I don't think people hate/like her for her "uniqueness" I think its her place in the story and her current path of development. But again thats just me.

I'd agree that uniqueness is not a make or break factor, for fans or critics alike. I made a post on this earlier, so to limit the repetition (a little):
My thoughts on "uniqueness"

Actually, I never thought her desire to fight diminished. She still wants to fight alongside Ichigo and their friends, she still wants to get stronger and be more useful, but she totally lacks confidence. There's nothing she wants more than to help the people she cares about, but she just doesn't think she can right now. I'm sure something will spark her confidence in the near future though.

As for the equality issue, I'm sure that if Ichigo actually sees what she can do (there was a teensy-tiny bit of it earlier), his view of Inoue might change. Possibly maybe.

Ohoho, you guys are gonna lynch me for saying this BUT... I always thought Orihime was kind of generic. Her powers are unique, yes, but the character herself? Not so much, imho.

But I love her oh-so-much anyway.

In this way, she is dependant.
Inoue can train till she thinks it pays her off. If it's no use and she thinks she is still weak/useless she'll get depressed, cry and whine until the second party comes again to comfort and help her...and so on and so on.
Everyone's self-confidence is effected by other people and even more so the yonger the person is, if people keep telling you that your useless sooner or later you will start to think that they are right. Orihime was an abused child and a lot of her timidness comes form that. And she with drew even more it to herself when here brother died. Add to this she also has a long history of being bullied and beaten in school do to her looks and there is no wonder that her self-estaem is crap. The only time she ever got "whiney" over it is when she asked to train and was flat out told she was useless. And after that she had an even larger resolve to become stronger.

Throughout the series Inoue's biggest motivation has always been her need to be close to/be equals with Ichigo. Damn, her self-confidence is not as awesome as you state, then. 320+ chapters and she is still in Ichigo's "FRAGILE MATERIAL! Must protect!" box.
You should notice that since the start of the HM arc Orihime's will has not faultered in the least. She has broke down in tears but that is because she was feeling her friends dieing, who she did not want there in the first place. People who dislike her always seem to focus on how she acted between the SS and HM arcs and seem to fail to see the pretty much everyone was at their all time low. Ishida was powerless, Ichigo kept loseing and his inner hollow was trying to take him over, Chad was ...well Chad and when Ichigo told him he didn't need his help, he basicly took off crying.

As for being in Ichigo's "FRAGILE MATERIAL! Must protect!" box I'll raise the point of who isn't? So far the only people I can think of that aren't in that box are his enemies and the people that have kicked his face in and most of the time its for trying to protect them.

Oh please. her importance to Ichigo had nothing to do with her going, and if you can prove otherwise please give me the chapter, page and pannel, she had a "choice" of A ) going with Ulquiorra on her own free will saveing the lives of her two escorts and stoping the Karakura invasion, the outcome of which seemed to be stacked in favor of the HM crew from all the infomation she was given, or B ) be forceably draged to HM, and if you think she could take out Ulquiorra at that point you're a complete idoit, and have all of her friends killed. As the title of the chapter stated it was Not Negotiation.

I'll agree Orihime is unique not just because of her abilities but her overall character is unique she has so much power but her personality prevents her from using her offensive abilities. But her personality also compliments her Healing/Shielding abilities by showing off her caring and protective nature. The more i think about it maybe she should just be restricted to healing and shielding because that is what she's good at.
