I clean forgot about this event. The heck.
Wow what a list. Lots of good stuff that get the crowd going.

I didn't expect move to appear in this, they've been lying low for quite a while. But Gamble Rumble is a great way to come back.

Takahashi Youko's still at it, her evergreen song I guess *sigh*people can't get over it.

Props to Suara, Jyukai, and Momoi Halko for coming and giving live performances of their anisongs, can't wait to see them.

And thanks so much to returning performers JAM Project(OMG SKILL Live! *fanboys*), ALI PROJECT, Kuribayashi Minami and Mizuki Nana(She did a ALI PROJECT cover? This I gotta see).

Hirano Aya only did one song? Weird..and good call from Chihara Minori not to do her anime-related songs IMO.

Finally, LOL @ Onmyouji.
P.S. I did omit some guests, sorry but I don't know them...Since I can't really read Japanese that well, and I wouldn't want to mis-read their names.

I was hoping for move's to do Dogfight. That song is epic

Nana-chan did that song together with ALI Project. In costume. *fap fap fap fap fap fap*

I was hoping Aya Hirano to do acapella covers with Momoi Haruko ala Lucky Stars EDs.

move's Gamble Rumble stays my favourite XD. Though with Dogfight coming a close second.

Might I know what song Mizuki covered for the opening song? Okui's not a bad singer too(though I've only listened to her work in JAM)

And props again to Momoi, Chihara and Hirano for doing this right after AX.

You will never be whole until you've heard some of Masami's solo work. She rocks so damn hard.

Hi, I'm Japanese.
I went to this concert. It was very exciting!!
Nana-chan is very cute and cool !
When JAM Project had sung SKILL, I thoroughly shouted.
If Animelo Summer Live hold next summer again, I want to go.

Wow, a primary source! I wish I was there screaming myself hoarse to SKILL too. T_T
And welcome

I have questions: What's the first song? And is there any anime/game that has it?

And one more regarding Animelo's 2006 concert, I know that JAM project and Nana-chan were there, so were GONG and BRAVE PHOENIX performed in that concert?

I've quickly covered it in my blog here.

Full report hopefully will come soon.

Hirano Aya was only a special guest, so she only gets one song. She's already got special treatment since really she can't match the other singers there that night in live performances and she is in no way an established seiyuu singer nor live performer. Really she only had the hype going for her. Even as good seiyuu artists and live performers like Chihara Minori and Momoi Haruko are, whom by no means slouches and performed almost flawlessly to their best abilities, their performances even then barely hold up compared with the other awesome artists that night. And I'm saying this as a fan of Chihara Minori.

"Rinbu - Revolution" is the opening song from Utena. Classic anisong which ranks up there with the likes of "Zankoku Tenshi no Teeze". It's originally a song sang solo by Okui Masami. Mizuki Nana tagged along for a duet this time, most likely due to the fact that Mizuki Nana is about the only one besides Okui Masami with the deep vocals powerful and lung capacity large enough to sing it.

Looking at the date of the 2006's concert DVD release, looks like there's a LONG way to go before we even see a trace of it. But that's one thing to add to my Christmas wishlist. XD

Thanks for the info. Just listened to it and even without the OP sequence I feel it is a great song. Makes me realise how young I am to anime I guess.

I watched the 'Making of Generation-A'(the PV) and it seems that there's a certain level of regard and respect that Okui Masami and Mizuki Nana give to each other.
From that aforementioned duet, to Mizuki getting consecutive invitations to Animelo which is partially organized by Okui herself, and finally reinforcing it all is Okui jokingly calling her Mizuki-sensei when Okui's handling some questions regarding the theme song(which is in that video).

Kind of gives off a senpai-kouhai vibe to me though. Maybe because of their similar singing styles?

@Same_Shark: Looks like you were right.

Mizuki Nana and Okui Masami goes back a long long time.

When Mizuki Nana just debuted as a singer in 2000, she was involved in a radio program called "ES Hour ~ radio no ojikan" with several other seiyuu. On that radio show they came up with an interesting project - they were going to release a CD with songs sang by the seiyuu, the catch was that the seiyuu themselves will have to look for the muscians and lyric writers themselves. Mizuki Nana had been a fan of Okui Masami and thus she approached her, and after meeting Mizuki Nana Okui Masami quickly agreed to write the lyrics, plus on top of that Okui Masami introduced Mizuki Nana to Yabuki Toshiro, famous composer (he did Rinbu - Revolution) whom also provided songs to likes of Hayashibara Megumi and was at that time Okui Masami's own producer too. And after Yabuki Toshiro met Mizuki Nana, he also quickly agreed to do music for her (so the two of the most prominent anisong figures both instantely recongnized Mizuki Nana's talent at that time). The result was the song "Transmigration" - which was later included on Mizuki Nana's first album "Supersonic girl", of which Okui Masami also did a cover on her best album "S-mode 3", on top of that they also duet the song in the first Animelo 2005 Oneness (which was orgasmic to say the least, though sadly that concert was not released on DVD). After this incident, Yabuki Toshiro also officially began producing for Mizuki Nana.

So yes, Mizuki Nana and Okui Masami does indeed have a very close and long relationship. Instead of sempai-kouhai though, it's more a like Mizuki Nana looks up to Okui Masami as a mentor music wise, and had developed a close friendship along the way. While Okui Masami also treats Mizuki Nana as a close friend whom she saw raised to great fame and proud of her achievement through hard work, also in part because she also looks at Mizuki Nana as her own student.

EDIT: Full Animelo report is up.

Interesting bit of history there. Thanks. So *that*'s why there's a 2007 version of 'Transmigration' on 'The Museum'...

On-topic: Thanks for the great write-up. At last an insight into the epicness that was that night. Looking forward to 'Generation-A' with motsu in it, since right now my opinion on the theme songs of Animelo '06 and '07 are the same as yours.

And SKILL live.

Animelo = anime melody. It's a term that basically encompasses songs that are tied to anime or games that are not performed by mainstream Jpop artists but by artists whom specialises in making anime/game songs or by seiyuu (voice actors).

All the songs performed at Animelo are related to anime or games in one way or the other.

Watching the DVD, I have just two words: BUY IT! Srsly, downloading the ISOs off share doesn't do this epic concert any justice. It's worth the money.

I saw the video for this concert. My favorite performances were by Suara, Move, Nana Mizuki, and Minami Kuribuyashi.
