Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru

Seems like an anime adaptation in the works. The full title is "Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru" and apparently has mystery as part of its genre.

Premise/Synopsis:
Quote:
The novel series revolves around Shōtarō Tatewaki and Sakurako Kujyō. Shōtarō is a normal high school student with a serious demeanor who likes to show off his girlfriend Sakurako. Sakurako is an extraordinarily beautiful woman in her mid-20s from a rich family who loves "beautiful bones." The two live in the city of Asahikawa in Hokkaido, and they get involved in various incidents regarding bones.

That almost looks like it's a cross over with the TV show Bones:

ah yeah. My bad.
I know nothing about that tv series before.

by the way, This doesn't seems like LN, more like a novel to me....
Just like Biblia or Shirei Tantei Yakumo...

Might be good.

Based on some research, it was originally a novel online but published as LN.

More info revealed now:
Quote:
A teaser website for the series notes that planning is underway for the adaptation, but the website does not specify what type of anime it will be.
Here's what ANN posted in regards to the synopsis:
Quote:
The novel series revolves around Shōtarō Tatewaki and Sakurako Kujyō. Shōtarō is a normal high school student with a serious demeanor who likes to show off his girlfriend Sakurako. So, it's like a mystery fiction with detective themes involving bones. I've never seen the live action TV show though lol

I'll laugh hard if BONES ends up animating this.

So it like a Japanese adaption of Bones? Holy shit like beside animes, Bones is like literally the only thing I ever saw. I hope the anime won't shy away showing some "eww" type of dead body like in the TV show.

Btw, going by that website the main characters in the radio drama were voiced by Kaji Yuuki & Koshimizu Ami (who also appeared in guest roles in the Bones TV series dub).

I kind of like the concept of this series but... I'd like it so much more if the guy wasn't a high school student. :/ Why can't this story be about actual adults, for a change... Then again, it is a light novel so I guess I should adjust my expectations.

Yeah, why is MC a high schooler when his GF is in her mid-20s?

Because wish fulfillment. You guys are acting like you are strangers to light novels.

Okay, I have no idea if this series is any good or not, but the fact that it led to Tetsuo drawing an anme-style picture of Emily Deschanel is completely awesome.

And hey, it's the first time Tetsuo's designs are going to be animated. I'd prefer his other series (obviously), but this should be awesome if the animators can capture his style.

LN adaptations can have older-aged characters as the main characters you know, they're just rare to find (especially in anime form).

Perhaps, but that's not the only thing I was referring to. I mean if this is going to be the light novel/LN adaptation that breaks the mold and becomes enjoyable for me (all the way through) then all the better, but for the moment my expectations are carefully adjusted as to prevent too much disappointment.

I'm sold!

Speaking of BONES, anyone knows if there's a bigger pic of this?

I wish you guys would stop calling this Light Novel as the series is originally advertised as Light Mystery (search for the earlier CM). The publisher deliberately want to get away from the labeling for a reason; another is this is by Kadokawa Bunko, the same as Bannou Kanteishi Q, which is definitely not a light novel. Just because the publisher sometimes choose to use "anime-like" drawings for cover doesn't mean it's the same genre, such as Hayakawa Bunko JA for example. There's 0 insert illustration in the book.

I followed this series for a bit over a year ago, but wasn't able to get into much of the plot cause I thought it would be featuring a lot of anatomical terms later (and didn't really want to look up everything). I think I only read around 40-50 pages of the first book before I stopped (when they found the first corpse).

This is the same worry I have. The first victim, while is not already decomposing like in Bones, is still decently graphic. I can already see the black bars covering the entire upper torso on broadcast, which would be defeating the purpose of a show that might be featuring forensics investigation involving the human body itself.

A mystery series centered around an actual couple? My interest is definitely piqued .

I have no issue with the male lead being in high school since I care less about the character's ages and more just the characters themselves and the series content. And considering he's in a relationship with an older woman, I imagine the age gap between the two might add an interesting dynamic to their interactions and their relationship. Though considering Sakurako is 20, I'm going to assume Shotaro is a third-year or at least 18. So at least he'll probably skew a little older than most high school MC's.

This is definitely something I could see Bones adapting, hilarious as that would be considering what the series deals with .

The "light" in "light mystery" is the same thing as in the "light novel", so yeah. In any case, as long as the story doesn't end up displaying the usual annoying light novel traits I'll be happy.

More likely they just wouldn't show the corpse altogether, and jump straight to the bones themselves via some creative license.
