Pssh. Predicting the NFL is like predicting the weather. There's a reason why the Broncos (along with the Bengals) are the surprise stories this year. No one (or not many) expected either of these teams to do well. Especially Denver, who was dealing with all that offseason bullcrap. Usually something like that spells a troubled season.

Of course, beating the Patriots has open some eyes, but not enough yet. Of the 5 (soon to be 4) unbeatens, the Broncos still gets the least recognition. That's because the other 4 are still that damned good.

Finally, that's why they play the game. >

Drew Brees, unquestionably the second best QB in the NFL behind Peyton Manning now (a New Orleanian like myself), has been sacked the least of any NFL QB the last 3 years…That means he gets rid of the ball…We’ve already played the blitz happy Jets which should have given us a good cursor for taking on the Giants…Trust me, they fear our #1 ranked offense more than we fear their defense…

New Orleans has so many good NFL players and 3 of the best QB’s in the league (Manning Bros. and Brees) represent our city in some way…

Sorry Tom Brady but you look average right now…

I agree. Favre is playing great football right now. No wonder he keeps coming out of retirement.

Actually, if you look at the passer ratings, The Manning brothers currently occupy the top two spots, Peyton and Eli respectively. Drew Brees and Favre are neck and neck behind them, followed by Hasslebeck, Ryan, and Roethlisberger. Tom Brady's in 17th.

Drew Brees is without a doubt one of the most accurate quarterback with a great arm NFL currently has. He also showed that he is less effective with his arms if the opposing defense can bring in pressure consistently. In his first two game, he averaged 350+ yards with a passer rating of 130+. In his last two games he averaged 130+ yards with the passer rating of 70+. Bills and Jets just blitzed. The only other thing Jets offense did better was their ability to pose a problem for Saints' run game as well. In both of these games Drew did not throw a single TD pass. Unfortunately for the Jets offense, their quarterback is a true rookie who showed his inexperience against a very good defense. He only threw 3 interception at crucial moments.

That is what makes the Saints a very good team this year. Saints have a legitimate defense. So when they go against a very balanced team such as the Giants, we should know where Saints stand cause next game is their first real test. Right now it doesn't look like Saints will pose much of threat with the passing game if the opposing defense can blitz a lot.

Like I said, we shall see.

Good job NFL. Now how about you tackle another issue and kick out all your gangsta players, criminals and clean up the league. Gotta keep this take no shit policy going. Let's start with Vick and also refuse Soros's money to the Rams for starters.

It wasn't the NFL that made Limbaugh drop out, it was pressure from the Player's Union, and the fact that Limbaugh would have hurt the group's bid for the team, which they want to keep in St. Louis.

So the NFL still has no balls?

Let's have the player unions kick out Vick and all the other gangsta trash then. Think that will happen?

Seems the St. Lois bid group wasn't very well vetted. There's another name on there to be kicked out too if reports are true.

The NFLPA works for the players, they will back their clients and they backed Vick like they are employed to do. And they have no say on whether a player is allowed in the league anyway. That's up to the owners who sign them, and the Commish.

Moonfrair, while it is true that the Bills and the Jets percentage-wise presented more of a blitz look it wasn’t Drew Brees’ inability to throw against those defenses as much as it’s the Saints’ newfound commitment to the running game (Obviously along with their monumental defensive secondary improvements)…

The last two seasons (8-8, 7-9, UNreceptively) the Saints lost 4-5 games just based on their ineffectiveness to score in close goaline proximity or on 3rd and 4th & short opportunities(because of a poor rushing att5ack and general mindset for calling plays by Sean Payton)… Couple this with a feast or famine kicking game and the Saints shut themselves out of the playoffs…Even with an absolutely poorest defensive secondary with Jason “Chasin” David as the posterboy for ineptitude it was still the Saints lack of a running game that allowed teams to stay in the game because they couldn’t salt away leads by running time off the clock via the rush…

What you saw from Brees in the games against the Bills and Jets was a willingness to manage the football game based on what the defense gave him and to protect the lead based upon defensive scoring (Something the Saints have never been good at in his era until FS Darren Sharper and all-world Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams got hired this season) The point is: HE COULDN’T DO THAT BEFORE because the Saints had no ability to drain the clock via the run and Brees had to always keep passing to protect the defense that gave away points as fast as he could make them…

Saints are now the most balanced team in the NFL…Top 3 in both passing and Rushing…Top 10 in both rush and pass defense…Number 1 in defensive scoring and INTs…Brees doesn’t have to sling it as much anymore, but as he’s proven time and time again he can and will if he has too…Drew Brees now approaches a ball game with the mindset that his golden arm and analytical mind isn’t needed to rescue us every game...He can now just manage games and how the Giants choose to play him will dictate just how he manages this one…

I've watched every Saints game the last 4 years (if not the last 24 years) and this is the best TEAM we've ever fielded, and that's why Drew's passing numbers were down in those 2 games, because we finally have a TEAM with no glaring weaknesses he has to try and make up for....

Sam Bradford re-injured that shoulder and he'll probably need surgery this time. He could still be a first round pick in all likelihood, but if I was him, I would take advantage of the fact that he is still a junior and come back next year to re-up his stock.

Granted, he might have to put in consideration that the NFL may be in lockout in 2011. . .

Yeah, I would be extremely surprised if he doesn't stay another year.

EDIT:Yay, Cal wins for the first time at UCLA in the Tedford era.

Nice for Cal,

Seems like a rocky day for DC region teams....Hokies lost close to Gtech but will most likely head to good bowl game still.

Maryland lost to Virginia. I like both so im impartial but at 20 to 9 game capatlizing on muffed plays by MD, it doesn't sound good for either team. Oh well, a win is a win for VA.
