Webcam Setup Issues

I bought this new webcam and the setup is giving me very strange issues. Every time I put in the miniature disc(It doesn't even look official and looks like he burned the disc) to me, anyhow when I run the setup it gives me a strange empty error with no comment and title in it, here's the link to it along with my computer hardware specs.

So, any help? ^^;

I got a screenshot below, if anybody wants to see the error. There's also an issue of clicking the main setup itself...I click it...doesn't open...then..error...then it closes the whole setup and I'm left with nothing.

Tell us more about the webcam. What brand and model number is it? Perhaps we can help you find the software and see if this is an issue others are having. Your error reminds me of scanner software I was installing at work. It gave me this blank error. When I clicked "OK" it proceeded into the install and then just closed out. I ended up having to re-install Microsoft Installer - but I do not think that is the issue here.

It sounds to me like a webcam bought off of ebay. There may be no official brand, and even if there is a manufacturer available, the drivers may be sketchy or unavailable. It's possible that a similar webcam's drivers could do the trick, though.

The webcam itself has no logo or anything to define where it's made from or who made it actually..

The box just says... USB2.0 1300K PC/Web Camera.

It appears that Ledgem was correct. May I ask where you purchased this web cam? Was it from a store or on-line auction? If it is from an on-line auction like EBay, perhaps you could share the link with us so we can help determine more information. With the information on the box you provided us, I cannot find much information.

It was at a market actually and I saw the guy work out the camera at his laptop so I know it works properly.

The manual also shows a picture just saying USB2.0 PC Camera(SN9C201) on it as well. ^^;

Even the manual itself just calls it a USB2.0 camera...

I think it comes from the Macrovision Company though from the setup.exe file information.

I found some software that appears to be referring your USB Web cam. It is from a company called "Sonix Technology" - http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/62930 .

It works now, I'll blame the CD for having a bad Setup.exe file but the one on the site works great.
