Just download Mozilla Firefox and its extension Ad Block Plus. Fire fox has a built in ad blocker, while Ad Block Plus blocks most advertising on websites.

There is as far as a I know an alternative for almost every browser. What are you using?

Agreed.
I've never gotten a popup since I started using Adblock Plus.

As previous posters have said, firefox and ad block plus are the best pop-up blockers out there. However, if you want a decent general blocker that is not browser dependent, I used this way back when before Firefox.

Firefox ad block plus is probably one of very few which actually work well.

How do you use Ad block to block the pop-ups that come with imageshock (when you open an image that comes from that site)?

That seems like something that has to do with how Firefox handles windows...

Go into options > tabs > select "new pages should open in tabs"

and it SHOULD open everything in a new tab now...or you can just middle click all links to ensure that they open in a new tab.

In Firefox, go to Edit > Preferences > Content. Is "Block pop-up windows" checked? When it's checked, a bar will appear at the top of the page when a pop-up is launched that offers you the option of opening it. You can also whitelist all pop-ups from the given site at that time if you'd like.

AdBlock doesn't play any role in pop-up blocking. It just filters out ads according to whether the requested URL matches one of its forbidden patterns. Click the arrow next the ABP "stop sign" and choose Preferences to see the patterns it blocks.
