Yep, something I been struggling with. I took a long time fixing them but then, as you can obviously see... FAILED!

Yep, currently using the latest version, 2.4.1 on Linux Ubuntu too, heh. With latest GAP as well although haven't tried using it before... but I saw some really cool animations created from the plugin. Too bad the feature Foreground Selection Tool is kinda unreliable (or maybe too hard to use), though. After an attempt at using it, I just went back to doing render manually (im learning so no loss)... Overall, like most (since some I haven't tried yet) of the newly added features.

Anyway, 5th attempt (or 6th if including revision) at rendering:
This time using mostly path tool and some clone stamping...

Original (got resized because it's pasts the filesize limit of imageshack, I think):

My best attempt so far, I think.
Image size a bit big, and filesize is pretty large. How do you do reduce png filesize when saving?

See the eyes for difference between 2nd and 3rd one.

And...

The two above are requests so no one can take them. (well yea, don't remind me that no one ever does =/ )

Now, render #6:

Here's revision to render #4:

And last, plus least, my 1st attempt at sig *gasp*

No, no, it ISN'T .. just me following a tutorial on how to blend

Beats the pants off my attempts at rendering. Well done.

I love the pictures they use to break up the episodes in Shana. The serious music makes them even more hilarious.

Slack off again... (at this rate I'm gonna remain below the nab 4ever...) Anyway...
Some of them are failures but w/e

And another render, 7th attempt at rendering (9th if counting revisions), and (again) a failure as well... (the original image is so good too T_T)

Btw... where do people usually find images on the web?

Tia, I actually thought you were a girl

But anyways, you are pretty good at avatars . And oh, yeah. I usually get my images from Moe Imouto (what a name! ), Anime Chronicles and Japanese Imageboars ( I DO NOT suggest Japanese Imageboards )

Thank you very much for the share. (may you clarify why Japanese imageboards are not recommended? Any reasons beside the fact that I do not know any Japanese?)

Thanks again.

I vectored it from my Render #4 Revision

Took like 6 hours, and it's suppose to be a simple image, too. <.< I'm beat...

Advance to Newbie GIMP user, I guess

That's a really cute vector you have there! You also used colored outlines, wich are always a plus in my book.

But do tell me...... did you outlined everything? some parts appear to be only color filled whereas others have a clear line.

I didn't...

Did not outline the dark-blue cloth and the pendant but I probably should have. Did not outline the ear and left hand either. I was rather tired after sitting 6 hours straight and thought it looked okay...

Some other trivias about the vector:
-Her right eyebrow is a bit shorter.
-The circles inside her eyes are bigger.
-The sword is fatter.
-Her lip curves a bit more downward.
-The line on the right of her coat (in her direction) is more curved than of the render's, effectively making Shana chibi looks chubbier.
-Forgot to shadow a (very) little bit of hair a bit above her left shoulder (in her direction)
-I erase the (very) little bit just above the pendant
-The pendant has missing chain.
-The two lines of the coat on mid-bottom of the picture that goes like --> ^ , is less steep.

Now that I'm looking at it, I forgot to vector the light part thingy on her head...

Thanks.

Overall, I think I did okay for a first try... and it was probably thanks to knowing quite a bit about using path tool (pen tool in photoshop) after some rendering.

8th render, 10th attempt. (Could never get those little strands of hair to look well when match against black/gray background ;_; ... anyone knows how to?)

Also, a bit unrelated but..
<------ what do you think about this avatar? Apparently... no one likes it, and I thought the blending mode matches the mood pretty well too ;_;

Another great vector!

There are a few spots were the color is out of place, but you can always improve that with a bit more practice.

Now, my only real jab at it would be the color of the mouth's outline; It's too pink and IMHO, it would look better if it were the same color as the skin outline.

Well, I think the vector does indeed looks a bit unnatural but unable to find where... If it's the color like you say, I pretty much just use the Color Picker Tool, so... a hint please? Or do I just adjust the color until I find the one that I like?

Changed it. Click the old link to see. Also added the lines to separate the head from the ears and the head from the neck (I did that before but for some reasons it disappeared on me) as well as the shadow in the mouth. There were also a few missing lines but I didn't fix them..

On another note... still looking for image hosting site that allows 3MB file size...

Can't comment on #1 to #7 but for the 8th render, which is the last one, I believe only the little strands of hair look bad (they are nightmares when rendering ~_~)... at least, I think so.

EDIT:
WOOT!! 3rd page!
