That youma-otakus tracker is very flaky for me, I think I will have to wait until the AonE is done (well, I haven't checked usenet for a while, maybe it will be there.)

The HnG special just reminded me how great the series was. Even though that was the first time I heard the word "tengen", I still felt an incredible level of excitement when that move was played. The creators know how to hit all the right buttons.

There was a little bit to be desired with the youma fansub (I noticed one spelling mistake, and a little bit of synch trouble), but overall it wasn't too bad. They did get a lot of Go terms wrong, like the Judan title being translated as 10-dan; I know it translates as 10-dan, but if you say 10-dan, it seems as if it's a ranking, whereas there actually isn't a 10-dan ranking, Judan is one of the title matches.

After watching the series, I've actually got right into Go, and I was real excited with this episode, because only a week or so ago I was reading a debate between a few higher-ranked amateurs about the virtues of a tengen opening, and the show was really spot on! Apparantly, in modern Go, players prefer to play a simple game, deciding on one area at a time, whereas a tengen opening forces players to concentrate on multiple fronts at once, and makes the game a whole lot more complicated; just like it did in the episode.

I'm also glad Ochi got slammed. I laughed so hard when everyone was fussing over the other two after he'd just beaten Waya. And how Touya ignored him. Arrogant little pimple.

They better show the tournament though. And they need more Akari. C'mon Hikaru, wake up before she realizes you're not worth it!

But you see... Hikaru doesn't need Akari because he already has Akira who looks a lot like a girl... especially at the last few minutes of this special. ^_^;;;

actually there is a judan (10th level is what it mean) ranking, and yes it is a title, that's because Judan is the highest you can ever get in Go, and of course being the highest mean there's no other, so of course Judan can only be held by one person, which explain why it is a title

ACTUALLY! Judan is just a title, not a rank. And back in the day the highest possible rank/state you could be in was Meijin. The Meijin was like the president of the go players from around 1600 to the early 1800s. Being the Meijin was like being god. But now it is just a title, since the Nihon Kiin takes care of all the stuff the Meijin would do.

I believe they'll be more Hikaru no Go Specials or a new season for that matter since Hikaru hasn't made the hand of god/divine move yet. Also since Hikaru no Go was a very popular anime in Japan they will most certainly make more of it.

In the original manga:

Spoiler:

Whatever manga content still existing, I think the anime will follow, but it will never go beyond that.

Thumbs up

There is no reason to believe they will deviate from the manga, given how
faithful it's been up to this point.
