WD, unless Sumeragi is in a spacesuit, she will ALWAYS be fanservice just for being on screen. End of story.

Well, Setsuna=bakabaka, however, I'm going to give this ep a 6 due to Lockon BG, Tieria just raping face, Exia stomping a ship (when was the last time you saw a gundam STOMP a ship?), and of course, Sumeragi hottness. Seriously...turn off head, look at Sumeragi, be happy ^_^

I think no one will ever argue against your point. however whether that's a good show of Setsuna's character or not is a question to debate

At this point I'm more interested in the backstory behind mobile suit development than anything else.

+1 for mobile armors, woo woo.

The cop didn't see the gun. Otherwise the cop would've told him to drop the weapon and lay down on the ground.

It's why setsuna placed his gun back into his jacket, to avoid being seen with it.

Makes you appreciate how much Tieria was right on with "I can't understand how he is selected to be a Gundam Meister". Tieria is by far my favorite out of the four

too bad he needs to work on his people skills. >_>

you get a much better response from someone if you don't threaten to shoot them in the back. not saying he can't express the gravity of the situation, just saying he tends to do so in the worst way possible.

I'm not gonna pretend I know what Clannad is, but any cutesy schoolgirl based anime that immediately gets a forum on animesuki can't be that deep...I'm sorry that was meant to be quite elitest...I don't even think it should be discussed here...

Gundam 00 has been showing potential of being very creative in story and in storytelling IMO...In recent week's it seemed to be starting to connect the sporadic dots while creatively fusing in character backstory...This ep was simply a misstep...I wouldn't say it had lost steam from the first couple of eps when I thought some eps past 2 were better than the first 2....Like all Gundam series there are WTF episodes and disappointing eps, but that does not a series make...Zeta had a few WTF eps and I love Zeta...Victory aswell as X, Turn-A, so forth and so on....Hell I even liked ZZ and it had one of the dumbest eps I've ever seen (involving the Moon twins)...So while this ep was extremely disappointing in some areas for me it doesn't mean it can't recover....Hell I loved GSD's first 5 or 6 eps, thinking those were some of the best eps in the history of Gundam and look how that series turned into $hit...I have much patience for 00 and see this ep as an exception to the rule so far (since I've rated every other ep 8 or higher)...But I will be critical when I need to be since this was the first ep in the series I didn't really enjoy...

As for the fanservice Dg86, either it is or it isn't....I'm not into this whole ambiguous cleavage competition...Almost every Gundam series has overt fanservice, so I'm like if your gonna do it, pimp it out...I mean if I'm watching the heat of the battle I want that feeling to stay with me and some eps make that hard when I have to figure out what's fanservice and what's not (or rather how they incorporate it)...Boobs bouncing heavily in a cockpit under fire keeps that tension even with the fanservice, but 00 seems to be uncommitted to how it wants to display this (They're simple half-a$$in' it)...I think it should be more natural, if not pimp it out and make me happy I just totally shifted emotions to oogle the service^^...

man u guys really dont like the story plotline or how its being shown so far... i dont know but so far i think the story up to ep 8 really explains everythings so far.. i cant seem to ask anymore unless they tell me the real purpose of all the characters in one eps which i think would cut the fun out watching 50 ep series.

the only thing i think its a waste is Saji Crossroad and Louise Halevy....i mean whats the point of them...they are like just extra with no connection with the story so far... hmm let me guess Louise and saji get caught in a explosion cause by any of the CB battles. Lousie dies and Saji wears a mask to cover his scar and swear... to kill the CB and leads a elite superhuman moblie suit attack squad. But either way i placing money that Lousie dies.... thinking when she goes back to spain.

The fan service...meh really i dont find it that bad it could be worse i mean we could have 4 female gundam pilots wearing school girl clothing or maid etc...heck i thought virtue guy was a chick ....boy was i wrong.

Ya see I like Sanji...I think he puts a human face on some of this...He's basically the viewer (He's us)...College kid with a GF living in the onslaught of this new fight for history...I felt the conversation with his sister (who is also a conduit for the audience) one of the high-points of this episode...He and his GF serve no big distraction for me when in the context of all G-series they are beyond the norm for a Gundam series...

LOL I actually felt for Sanji this ep and kinda want him to become a pilot..Maybe there's a 00 Guntank somewhere for him to pilot and die tragically^^...Hell we saw a MA this ep, so why not?

hmm human face... i guess so.. makes more sense now..but still be cool if saji becomes one of those mask guys like some gundam series.... i kinda miss the mask dude character i always thought they were cool. But im still saying lousie going to die later on...

Ep 8 i gave it 7/10 just because Marina and setsuna met.. plus lockon badside was cool

well, the best Gundam fan-service has to go to Victory. Nothing beats beam saber vaporizing beautiful bikini bazooka assault onee-sans, or kid biting oba-san's tits when taking a bath together

08th MS Team had some good fanservice/romance. :P Making hot springs.
I felt the fanservice here was a tad weak to be honest. Sumeragi in a one piece... I mean come onnnn! I'm a two piece guy. SD Gundam had some fanservice. Even at the very end things were a tad, fanservicish. Ahhh the memories... Blondie was still the best character... Kind of reminds me of Tara from Teen Titans. o_O
It'll be interesting to see if we get any Marina fanservice. I wouldn't be surprised if she looked awesome in a bathing suit. They always trick you and make the sexiest one look less sexy than she really is... Then they throw her in a bathing suit and [insert draw drop]. :O! (<_< Just kidding)

Yeah Victory is just a big ball of reverse child pornography^^...Obviously when it's a kid guy getting the bulk of it you don't here protestors...People sleep on a Turn-A, it has some very natural service like when the sisters take that shower on the way to the moon...Zeta and ZZ are filled with loose T & A, and obviously SEED which I think really gets it right (Fllayliciousness just for starters)...In 00 though it's like they bring you all the way to the cliff and instead of pushing you over into a bed of tatas, they just peek over the side then pull you back...If your gonna constantly infuse this during battles make it worth it is all I'm saying...Either way it's not that big a deal, but if we are gonna discuss it, that's my feelings on it...

Exactly, when did fanservice become so important to gundam, considering how blown into proportion it is for seed and now for 00 as well.

Oh.. My...... I think we just uncovered the Gundam conspiracy.
Didn't Mobile Suit Gundam have fanservice in it too??? I'm sure people on the Trojan Horse took showers, made out, and enjoyed some sun. Heck Gundam Seed is essentially a remake of Mobile Suit Gundam in a lot of ways. 08th, Turn-A, G00, Stardust Memories(I believe showering...?), Female Federation pilot in War in the Pocket(?), All the Z and ZZ and ZZZ(Yeah this is my crack at the originality of Gundam titles too...), Gundam Seed obviously, Gundam Wing(to my knowledge), and probably all the other Gundams.
Back to 00 though... Well they're just carrying on the Gundam tradition in the Gundam Wing style. I'm actually starting to notice that all the Gundams are becoming exactly the same and being based off an older series... Hm... Gundam seems to be on wooden legs now! ;_;

Gundam, from it's first incarnation has always tried to have a more adult view on relationships and male//female interactions...To that end fanservice has always been apart of Gundam to varying degrees, but it is present as early as MSG....So it has always been a factor..Obviously it's importance lies with the veiwer...I would say early Gundam is far more taboo in it's usage than the later series that simple cater to an expected dynamic...

Well yeah, back in '79 it was a little more taboo then in 2007 when a hundred series with fanservice come out each year...And dude hopefully while reading my gripes you didn't think I hate fanservice...I love fanservice, when it's good...I just get a little distracted by 00's usage and placement of this apparent element...Nevertheless this is getting off-topic and I'm about to ZZzZzZZzzz anyways for work tommorrow....

That is to be expected - Those visual novel game turned anime are "hard to digest", especially for western audience because some of them, like Kanon or Air, makes it hard for people to take serious when the character design of the show are so "young" - I know I cannot stand Kanon or Air due to that reason. However, I watched/played some of the other ones, like To Heart and Fate/Stay Night, and their story are really well done, and each route, or basically arc of the story, explore various character's side, or in some cases, different approach to things. Clannad, from what I have seen so far, is ok, but suffer from the good old "drag on" problem - the arc could've ended a couple of episodes ago, but too much filler comedy is added in. Besides, I am not really a big fan of these type of anime because they can never fully tell the story a visual novel can, since I doubt I will see an anime that will cover all the possible route in the game/novel.

No matter what, all Gundam shows will suffer from this, because in almost all episodes, they have to show some "Gundam action", even if they aren't needed, and god bless if they ever ran into storyline problem (meaning they cannot produce enough story material like Seed Destiny), you are in for filler/repeat hell. Personally, I don't think the storyline from Gundam 00 is that bad - not good or great, but not the worst either. The problem I have with 00 and most of the recent Gundam series is that they have put Gundam back onto the Super Robot genre, instead of the good old "realistic" genre. Of course, like 4Tran had said before, you tend to put your common sense out of the window when you watch shows like this, but super robot show typically put the audience further away from realty, since it's way harder to associate the "logics" in that show compared to real life logic.

The funny thing with Gundam 00 is that it is among the first (that I remembered, except maybe Seed/Seed Destiny) that does not involve a shower/bath fanservice scene, at least not yet. It was almost like a running gag in the various Gundam TV series (UC, especially) - you are almost guarantee to see one of the female character in the shower, serving no purpose other than showing some skin. Seems like it's getting worse and worse (fan service) - I do not have to remind people what happen to our Archangel captain when Archangel get hammered We cannot even get away from fan service even in the OP...
