Dark Comedy

I'm looking for some awesome dark comedy series, or otherwise dark series with comedic elements. When I say dark comedy, I mean shows that are funny but in a messed-up way. The best examples I can think of would be Welcome to the NHK and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. However, I also would be interested in ones with a little more violence, such as Baccano which I absolutely loved.

I do enjoy a lot of absurdness in my shows, but not to the point of being stupid like Dokuro-chan. If you know any dark comedies, gimme a holla!

The only anime I can think of is Dai Mahou Touge. I thought it was pretty hilarious. It may be too much along the vein of Dokuro-chan for your taste though.

Yeah, doesn't really sound like my cup of tea. Stuff like that or Ebichu and stuff don't really do it for me - I'm looking for more intellectual humor than crap like beating each-other to death.

Now see, those first two are exactly the kind of slapstick I'm avoiding here. FLCL isn't really dark, but it is among my favorites.

The problem with black comedy is that it's soooo rare in anime. That's why series like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei are so refreshing.

The second episode of the Memories film, Stink Bomb, is one of the better examples of an anime black comedy I know of. The entire film is pretty good as well (except from Cannon Fodder, which is a bit bleeeaarrggh).

that's an unfortunate truth -_- I'm actually looking a little bit more for an all-around dark seinen series that I guess doesn't take itself as seriously, like Baccano. Yeah, I know I'm asking for a lot, but I'd hate it if there's some gen out there I'm missing, lol. If anyone's just got some all-around dark shows to recommend that aren't some crappy horror or something, I'll listen to those too.

Only show I can possibly think of is Kino no Tabi. It's definitely not slapstick comedy, but I think some of the towns Kino runs into are definitely comical in a very dark way. For example, a town that just executes anyone after a majority vote, which ends up killing most of the town. However it's a more philosophical tone, and not so much absurd. It's worth checking out based on your tastes, maybe.

I would never, by any means, compare Kino to 'dark' or 'comedy' however yes, i've seen it.

A few of the later episodes of Ergo Proxy have some dark-comedy elements, but apart from that, I can't really think of any besides Stink Bomb, which has already been mentioned.
