widescreen wallpaper

Is there a way to make a regular wallpaper cover the whole widescreen for the laptop and doesn't leave the 2 sides uncovered and only the middle covered? Thanks

Center it, or in Vista, align it horizontally.

On the wallpaper menu, there is a drop-down menu with Center on it. Select "Stretched".

Just a quick question, but doesn't it usually make the picture disproportional? O.o;;

If you center it, windows, well... on XP doesn't resize it for you, it simply take your screen resolution and center the screen on the middle of the image and from there your screen res comes into place. If you stretch it, depending on the wallpaper res, like for mine, i still run on a 1024x768 cause my Samsung SyncMaster 151s can't support anything higher than that and I usually like to get wallpapers that can easily resize into that res, usually 1600x1200 if avaliable. When selecting the stretch option, it automatically resizes it for you.

I don't recommend leaving stretching and resizing to the OS typically. If I can, I would try to see if I can match the background color and extend the canvas of the said wallpaper to the size that I want it to be.
