nanu's icon files (.ico, .icns)

(I couldn't find many general anime icon sets that weren't from the previous century, partly because people call images for avatars, icons, too.)

Here are some custom folder icons for anime and related files.
You can also use them for shortcuts or whatever.

Pixel sizes available are 128128, 4848, 3232, 1616.

For the Windows version, alongside each icon are a desktop.ini file and a self-destructing batch file to quickly set your target folder's icon.
The batch file also hides these files (unless you have set your file manager's folder options to show system files).
Note that I've only tested these in Windows XP Pro.

Preview:

Download:
.ico (Windows) .icns (Mac) .rsc (Mac) .png (for whatever supports PNG, or conversion to other formats)

These are very good. I mean, there aren't many anime icons to begin with, let alone decent ones (excluding Sailor Moon ones, of course). I like the Clannad and SHnY one the best.

The world needs more anime destop icons!

DLing now...

Updated again with 128px PNG files. I can now see in more detail that many of the icons aren't cleaned up well, and are disproportionately sized, relative to one another. I should care more, if I used these higher resolution icons, myself. Maybe I'll redo these some time (I have no intention of doing so)

I used Axialis Iconworkshop to generate the .ico and .icns; I don't know what else to try...

Apparently there are also .rsc/.rsrc files for Macs, too

I need to find a way to automate converting all of these formats since it's ridiculously tedious.

You can batch convert the folder of choice.

Open Axialis. >Librarian> Open folder in Explorer(select the folder with all icons). Select the icons you want to change in to Mac icons. And right click them > Batch Create Machintosh@ icon from selection. And you got them converted to Mac icons.

And nice icons

Is there any way to get them to work on your desktop as well?

Very nice, either way. + Rep

How do you mean? Most any folder's icon can be customized, if you right click on it, go to Properties, go to the Customize tab, and click Change Icon...

The way I packaged this is meant to achieve the same thing, since both basically edit a hidden system file called desktop.ini in the target folder. This has been around since Windows 98, I think.

I tried that already. That's how I got your icons to work in Windows Explorer, the installation process in the readme.txt didn't work. I strongly suspect it's because I have Vista...The "folder icon" option doesn't seem to work when I select an image either.

Updated with redone/cleaned-up versions.
Removed 24px/96px formats from Windows version.

More icons to come in the future if I ever get to viewing any more anime.

Also, Vista apparently has support for 256px PNG-compressed icons. Unfortunately, not all of my icons' source graphics are at that high a resolution (unless I reconstructed them), and I do not see myself regularly using Vista any time soon . I'd like a refund for now but hope that service packs will make it more tolerable to use.

Good work. I had to redo the Mac icons because Leopard wouldn't take them. Ended up running it through a convertor that put it in the same file format, but after doing that it worked.

Also for future references Leopard supports resolution independence which means icons can go up to 512px x 512px, which is a very high icon resolution, should you decide to make more, take that into consideration as well! thanks for the icons.

These are very good. I do have a program to make out of pictures icons too but I just was to lazy. ^^ (Yeah.. I'm like that. ) I believe mine was Corel Icon thiny shop blab blab lbab or something. (Its in the retired section of my pc. Meaning last time used is last year or something like that. ^^ ) I just remembered I still have it. I might give it a shot to make some icons too. At least.. When I'm not to lazy. xD
