(L) Spice and Wolf Light Novel Discussion (Licensed)

I guess it really just comes down to us needing to read something ^_^. The short story put alot into perspective, and I kinda liked it ^_^

BTW, there are some interesting words (Horos thoughts) about her past, with the words that she still never had such types of feelings to others ^_^
Plus it's just interesting to read ^_^

Yeah, the short story currently being translated is quite insightful.

Compared to a life of watching a sapling slowly grow into a towering tree, each day I spent with this young merchant was akin to several decades.

I thought this line extremely relevant to our recent discussion about Horo, her age, Lawrence, and love, etc..

that's basically what I had in mind when I said that there are interesting thoughts ^_^
well it is obvious here that Horo has a veery strong attachement to Lawrence and will miss him greatly if smth happens ^_^

Wolf and Amber Melancholy is my favorite 'chapter'.

It casts everything she says/does in a different light.

Yeah that short story really has been a great thing to read. Getting to hear Horo's thoughts on things can really bring some insight. Especially considering the point of volume 3 we are at its quite welcome .

Ah medieval medicine. Definitely odd what they cam up with to explain things. Were trying to put some logic into things and came up with some of this as a result. Don't think Horo approves much of this medical knowledge though . Feel bad that she's drinking something that doesn't taste good and is unlikely to be any real benefit for her.

After all the explanations Lawrence gave on medieval medicine I wonder if what he gave Horo to drink really was apple wine dilluded by water ^_^
First thought was that he just said it so Horo would drink it ^_^

Anything hydrating is good for a person running a fever. Although Lawrence's, and Medieval Medicine's, objectives are a bit off/skewed, they will work in the long run.

Except for the bleeding people part, that never worked...unless you were using leeches.

FOr a second I thought for some reason that hydrating is similar to drying ^_^ Then I didn'tunderstand why is that everyone sais to drink plenty of liquid when your sick ^_^ then I snapped out of it..

Yeah I'm not huge on the medical science aspect. Just try to live through it and keep on going . Long as the result is alright the interesting reasoning can be ignored. Unless its bad reasoning leading to bad treatment then your really in trouble.

I'm a terrible person but have to say Horo's 'treatment' sounds a lot better than drinking what Lawrence is bringing out . No doubt if she had said what that treatment entailed it would have been a really entertaining moment.

But really just hearing her thoughts is extremely entertaining. You get that feeling when she talks in the series/novels, but the thinking behind it is really interesting. When to hold back on teasing and when to play things up. Just good times.

I agree.. Horo is very noticable character by herself.. so from the start (in the beginning of the novel translation or discussion topic, I don't remember) most of us were interested in reading these sidestories where the narration was from Horo's perspective ^_^

Wow Lawrence really stepped into it this time . Though may have gotten out of it by being incredibly thick. Going around with Nora (though for good reason) while Horo was unconscious is practically worth a death penalty right there. Take into account hundreds of years worth of issues with Shepherds and its not so simple to make exceptions. Besides with Nora being a nice person it makes her a threat on a different level anyways. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Spoiler for Volume 3, Chapter 5:

Alright! Now that's the kind of finish to a chapter I'm talking about . When the Deanna sale fell through I honestly thought this was doomed. He really didn't have much to work with there. But thanks to a confidence boost he went for it anyways and got rewarded. I completely didn't expect Horo to go and buy up that pyrite from Deanna. Really a situation to push Lawrence into whether to go into a situation without much chance or to give up easily and take the profit.

Just a great section. Trading really is a pressure packed thing when you've got the right stuff behind it. Horo hasn't gotten a chance to say much recently but "Dumb Ass" and a punch to the waist is a great return . Bring back memories and had to kick up some of the later episodes of the series just to hear Horo call him a fool. Just like Horo to have figured out what Lawrence would do well before he did and got to Deanna first.

So much fun though .
