No, it just that most of us who write here, have only read what is translated on B-T ^_^

Haha, and Salv goes on to solicit more help ^_^ (you want to?? )

But yeah, it's fine to discuss more if you want, though we're going to have to find a way to hold off reading those spoilers...GARG you've got me interested in this
Spoiler for v4c2:

Yeah...but because none of us can really read Japanese or Chinese cept those who don't post much *jab * we only get around to talking about the B-T english version. But feel free to post about anything in the novels, just remember spoiler tags, and alot of us might not read it because we dont want to spoil S&W out of order ^_^

^^
Im actually quite surprised that that there isnt any english translations already out. (I just did a little googling and it seems only Baka-Tsuki provides english translations.) So Judge is the only guy translating at this point?
And to keep discussions active i would gladly discuss only those out in Baka-Tsuki. Sorry for any spoilers.

@Salv: Transalting novels sounds pretty damned tedious to me, so no thanks.

Not quite. There's barbsicle, who's working on the first volume, and wyvern, who has translated a portion of Volume 7. Some of us here are also doing a bit of editing, like seaghyn and....salv I think?

Well.. it's not like I'm officially an editor.. it just that I sometimes (when I ahve the time and feel like it) do edit smth that is a bit out of place ^_^ plus I help out a bit (like inserting pictures for you, Judge, or posting smth like Wyverns translation..) So actually I don't know how I should be called.. Smth like a good civilian ^_^

B-M good for you ^_^ i started to learn little by little, although do to current events in my life I'm at a temporary hold ^_^

Frosty.. why don't you just try ? For example take let's say volume 5 chapter 1 or smth like that and work with it at your own pace.. if you don't like it then quit ^_^

Same here. I've already taken the first step: I'm taking a course in Japanese at school starting this coming semester.

That's my plan for next year. This and next semester I'm full of basic courses that chew up all your time. Next year I'll have MUCH more time to learn a third language.

Anyways, I read the first part of volume 4. Can't wait to read more.

That depends on your background and general affinity for languages. A language is always "hard" unless you're seriously motivated.

Mandarin Chinese (there are dozens of _______ Chinese dialects) uses pitch intonation along with the syllables -- that's something I've always found extra tough to muster.

Learning *conversational* Chinese isn't terribly hard. Learning to *READ* Chinese is more complex than learning to read Japanese since you have to know many more kanji to be minimally functioning. Knowing the Japanese meaning of a kanji won't necessarily help you in Chinese though its still a step up in many instances.

Hmmm, this makes me suddenly curious about how Chinese handle learning their written language in school there. (order of kanji, etc) ... off to Wiki for first look.

Ahhhh.....this is so nice!! Spice and Wolf...haha, wheat and bread....Laro Bread Company ^_^ haha...
