That's all you need. Also please use the included Media Player Classic or ZoomPlayer instead of Windows Media Player.

Last, this answer could have easily been found in the sticky thread in this subforum.

I hear only noise from mkv files

I installed cccp and I can view mkv files now, but the audio is noise (when I tried zoomplayer the computer halted and I had to restart). Any ideas are welcome...

VLC is good as a last resort, but it does have some problems with it. I get audio issues, and framerate issues when using it.

VLC is a really bad idea with 90%+ of all MKV files, as they also contain "soft-subtitles", which VLC has crap support for.

Second the VLC soft-sub issue.
VLC can't display the stylized sub the way CCCP can. it only displays what other people from other forums call:
"ugly white subs."
unless of course your going for an avi file, then VLC works just like any player will.
and what do you mean by noise, please explain a little.
