How to prevent my cpu go 100% ?

Tech-geniuses, i need your help!

When i watch clips on Youtube, when i watch an anime over Media Player, surf the internet by any browser i can think of, every time my CPU goes nutz! it goes to 100% and then i cannot do anything but wait till it drops I have tried everything, from scan it with Nod32 version 3.0 (result 0 infected files) , scan with ad-aware (clean that up), clean catch, clean history, i clear my disk, i started disk defragmenter ( don't know the right word for that) and nothing works...

Does anyone have any ideas what to do next? because this is driving me crazy. I was looking at my task manager program, but i cannot find any program suspicious, all are connected to the system or my protection. Right now it went 100% at MSN

Well without knowing what your PC specs are we can't really help yo. If you're running a PII this wold be typical CPU use.

Do step 1 (post results), 2 and 5 first. then report back.

Try this as well
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Your_lapto..._any_ideas_why

I assme that is the model no of the CPU - AMD Turion 64 ML-30. IT looks like powersaving mode is throttling yor processor. I also think RAM is on the low side and an additional 512 would help greatly.

64 mk36 should be running a 2.0ghz. not 797mhz. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...icroprocessors

Try changing power options to "always on"

Power Schemes - "always On" Not Portable/laptop

It also regulates the voltage to your CPU not an option you see, more volts = more power = faster. All you've done is tell it not to turn the monitor off.

Wow it went from 797mhz to 1.79Ghz ................ but in few minutes it went back to 797mhz again WHY?

i fix it again, and now its at 1.99Ghz I hope its gonna last this time ( it has lasted few minutes until i went to youtube, then it droped on 797mhz AGAIN) When i looked at Power Options suddenly i had only two options to choose from. And suddenly that Always On disappear and this appeared:

why is it jumping from 797 to 1.79ghz, 1.99ghz to 797mhz as soon i visit video page as youtube... ?

it's still throttling. you might have to go into the bios and turn off a thing called cool n quiet.

I purposly throttle my desktop though for temperature reasons and for power saving (idles 1v .94ghz, full throttle 1.7v 2.6ghz, so there's a huge temp diff)

try going into the bios and see if there's an option to turn cool n quiet off.

I will say this though. for at least 5 years i watched all my subs on a computer with a 1ghz p3 processor, 384mb of ram, and a radeon 7200 (first radeon card iirc) and it ran fine and never got peaky like yours does.

when i'm watching videos though (right now) the cpu usage stays around 40%

I don't think the throttling is the issue. mine's only at 940mhz right now and it plays fine. I'm wondering if there's something else causing it. have you tried opening up the task manager, go to the process tab, and sort them by CPU usage, and see what causes a big jump in the usage. it might lead to something.

for now i would choose the home/office setting.

I have already tried sort them by CPU usage but i System Idle Process sometimes takes 80-90% of CPU usage I don't think even more space on C disk will help... something else is the problem I will need to try to go to bios and turn that off, i will see what is going to happened but still, i don't want that my laptop will get overheated

The system idle process thing is normal since it tells you how much of your processor is not being used for other processes (put simply).

You should check what processes are taking the CPU to 100% under task manager. Usually System Idle Process should be the highest.
I recommend that you go to http://www.processlibrary.com/ and type in the process's name that is taking up the CPU process. Then try uninstalling the program or end process. Hope that will help solve your problem

Who is your laptop manufacturer? Go to their website and see if they have any utilities for laptops. Toshiba had some really nice laptop applications that would let you control the CPU throttling and the fan (among other things). I mostly used it for keeping the computer cool. It's normal that the processor will go to a lower speed when higher speeds aren't necessary, but it should bump the speed up when you start using it. In your case it seems to be dropping the speed when you need to use it, which is very strange.

Its now time to consult your manfactrer and manual. Refer specifically to power saving options. And for heaven's sake don't close the system idle process

DO NOT MESS AROUND WITH BIOS WITHOUT KNOWING EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING. PLAYING WITH THE POWER OPTIONS IN BIOS CAN KILL YOUR PC.

No. Nothing is wrong with your PC in terms of software. You just need the right settings for your hardware. What brand model no is it?

Turn off speedstep.

Clean out the spyware and adware.

Download Prim95 and frequently "flush" your RAM and CPU by maxing out the Torture Test.

If problem still persists, I advise you to completely format the HDD and reset your BIOs and start from the beginning all over again.
