How to insert sub titles using virtual dub?

Does any one know how to insert subtitles using virtual dub? An explanation or link is greatly appreciated?

I suggest using AVISynth to put subtitles in. It helps simplify the process if you plan to use AVISynth filters.

what kind of subs do you intend to add to the video? if it's normal subs subtitler is fine ( subs must be ssa format )
if it's more animated ( karaoke or credits ) I would rather use TextSub ( found with vobsub2.23 ) ( subs must be ssa ot ass , there about the same ) you have a quick explanation with subtitler filter and the ass specs with textSub. then to add subs just load subs witht he filter and save as with full processing mode and remeber to choose a codec ( if possible the same used for the first encoding)
