But, it really was a nice place to get high quality.
That is, at least, before I discovered the wonders of bittorrent. ^_^

But, hopefully this won't signify a downfall of places like Veoh or Youtube in the future...
Youtube at a downfall? Unless Google itself shuts down, that will never happen.

Evangelion has been out on R1 forever. . . Why don't you just buy it? (I thought the purpose of fansubbing was to bring unknown Anime to west, but in this case, Evangelion has been properly released and it's only right to purchase the DVD's to show your support towards the companies that are bringing the shows over. This is just my humble opinion)

On to the topic, I too am quite saddened at the demise of Stage6, but it was somewhat inevitable. . . . since stage6 was devised only for experimentation purposes, the folks behind it never imagined the site would create such traffic and heavy bandwidth usage. They just couldn't handle the steep cost of servers and such.

Nevertheless, I believe the initial success of Stage6 will bring forth an influx of similar high-definition streaming websites.

agreed. It was a VERY successful experiment, and even though it's closing, they started something previously thought impossible. High-def STREAMING media, with no lag, and with the highest quality available online. People aren't just going to sit around and cry over the loss. I'm sure within the next year someone will open up a new Stage6 style streaming site.
And it will be successful as long as they calculate the extreme bandwidth it will take.

I'm going to really miss stage6
They were the only video streaming site that bypasses our school's firewall
but from now until Thursday I think I'll do some massive downloading.

Just buy the DVD. I bought the entire series for $20 bucks or so at Best Buy. It's dirt-cheap.

Stage6 closes down tomorrow! Prepare yourselves!!

Stage6 is still up right now?!!!!

Thank goodness, I was able to get a few more videos I wanted (such as the slowed down version of Hare Hare Yukai so I can learn the dance easier )

I guess the people in charge of stage6 decided to be cool and give us another day (or at least a few more hours)

Edit: looks like I got them in the nick of time because now I can't access the site anymore. (that's what I call lucky)

NOOO! MAN! That was my only excuse to NOT use the flash-based sites. That really disappoints me.

most people seem to have migrated to Veoh. Its pretty good I like it but not quite up to stage 6. At least its much better then youtube usually I cant be bothered to download everything through BitTorrent so its useful!

Sure brings back memories. It's amazing I forgot about it completely, but then maybe it's because everything I ever need is on BitTorrents
You could say I'm in love with .mkv (yah, it's a container, but when it comes to anime, always look for anything that ends in .mkv ) so I'm not really bothered. Would torrent everything whenever possible anyway. I still remember watching the first ep of Haruhi on stage6 though

I never really used stage6 to find anything, preferring torrents and veoh, but it is still pretty sad to hear that it's down. But maybe someone else will learn from them.

I'm wondering why they couldn't sell it, there must be very good reasons because I'm sure some company would of been willing to buy this great site ^_^.

Stage6 was the best for basically everything, mainly high quality amv's for me. I'll be sad to see it go.

you're the same way as me about .mkv's and i think that's because .avi doesn't support the h264 encodes iirc
