Course I would assume we are using the anime's style. Just a little confirmation before I get started on some of these sprites. And, yes I am actually doing something productive after saying I would. It's a miracle aint it?
Yeah, we are going by the anime's style. The 2006 run, I guess.

Only one artist have done anything, actually, so it is no much problem. Here some post with his samples and skecths.

You are going to do the sprites right? So, to not waste anyone time, avoide imouto and otouto. I don't know how far Binjovi did, but I think he was working on them.

I have to admit that was my first thought, though that 's probably because Scooby Doo has been popping up in my life a lot the last few weeks (which is just plain weird.)

I assume that means you watch Cartoon Network a lot, as they've been advertising that LA reboot movie for a month or so...

First time I've heard of that. Last show I watched was on the science channel. No wait, make that G4.

I'm glad there appears to be an artist now.

Need moar artists. Can't have enough artists. Especially when the number of them is so low.

Well, too many artist can make an art dissonance. This can be solved if each one make one thing (one to the sprites, one to backgrounds, one for the desings...) or if they can folow the same style.

However, we can't say we have many. No until then post something to us see. I consider we have only one: Binjovi. Hopefully, soon we will have Selofain, Joe and Arceon. But, as Danchou said, more would be always helpfull.

... Damn it, if none of the volunteers actually does anything by the end of the week, I'll be submitting my fail art in their place.

Nothing is inpeding you to subimit now .

Anyway, even if your art is a failure, I bet you can help somehow if you can use photoshop. You don't realy need do draw to color something, or to make a desing.

I don't even have photoshop. Never have, actually.

Also, I really don't want to be waving my artwork around if I don't have to. Even if I didn't think it looked horrible, it would make it fairly obvious who I am to anyone who's seen something I've done before.

Heh... I haven't touched CN in years... ever since I became a sub-snob (and also realized just how bad the english voice actors tend to be... how I ever survived listening to the original dub of Sailor Moon is beyond me.)

Actually, my girlfriend and I were talking about the movies not too long ago, and I discovered a Valdemar short story collection in which one of the stories was essentially a Scooby Doo episode, down to a talking wolf and the villain saying "If it weren't for you meddling..."

Thanks for taking over. I've been trying to cut down on my Random Non-essential Obligations, and the VN archive is one of the more troublesome ones, since it requires access to the Internet (and specifically this forum). With this, I can focus on the Story Archive, which is at least somewhat linear.
Yep. Definitely helps that the story archive's pace is quite a bit slower then the VN at the moment. I think otai is working on some rewrites, and Aebliss has his Setsubun, but that's about it.

Honestly, this isn't much of an imposition to me since I'm also working with the VN anyway.

Agh, you're touching on the weak spot of my Art Direction. I haven't actually described the sprites (hardly). It'll be awhile before Day Two is done so I'll try to get on that.

But yes, the sprites are in the anime's style.

Kyonko, being a girl; would be airing out her school uniform. Just draw that hanging on the wall.

Kyon is the type to just leave things till the last possible moment and enjoy every moment beforehand.

If it's not important (or an order) it won't be done.

Yes, but allowing herself to smell of sweat and mildew? Either that or she changes uniforms everyday; and washing a uniform everyday is more effort than just hanging it out to air.

I always figured she'd have multiple uniforms...

Isn't normal having multiple uniforms?

Anyway, another thing about the art direction. We realy need that many CG just on the Prologue? It would be awesome, true, but also too much work.

Last time as talked with Danchou about this it was going to be only backgrounds, if I am not misstake. I also had the idea of using screen shots from the anime (exept for the "Green" and for the chessboard). We could also use both backgronds and screen shot for most shots (first a background and then, when the character speeks, the SS).

See, quite a few of those scenes are really easy to make as event cg, because they could be based on anime screenshots. I personally do not like the idea of not drawing everything for the project...

Realize too that a lot of these event CG's won't be much more then a background with a character thrown in. They aren't much more work then making a background itself.

Some of the scenes could be replaced by a background + sprite, but it'd be a lot more visually consistent to just have the the whole prologue be event CG's.

I would love so many CG. The more better. However, I am questioning if we realy need so many on the very start. There are any onther VN that give so many so early?

If I understand Danchou well, the idea was using only backgrounds. The narration pay more atention on them then on the characters anyway. Even if making the CG would be the same work as making the background, the background can be reused latter.

I agree, however, that if we make one scene on CG all must be on CG too. The only exeption could be the GREEN one.

Ask the artists. See if they want to do the work. We could also do an updated rerelease if someone adds CGs later or something.
