My friend is also waiting for the subs. I think it's torture. I couldn't even wait for the subs for the first episode. I think the subs will clear up some of my doubts, though.

What genre of music would you guys call the opening song?

I want to say it reminds me of some lounge or jazz from the 60's.. at least in terms of the vocals. But is there a more specific name for this style?

Here are some other songs with similar sounding vocals.

Dont all rush to reply at once, now.

episode 3 is coming out tomorrow. Hopefully the subs will lay to rest all the doubts some people have about the relationship between Michiko and Hatchin.

Thanks for the help. But yeah, I'm still unsure if Michiko is Hatchin's mother and I think the subs will definitely clear it up.

Just watched first episode, judging by the language and settings reference, I assume this anime takes place in Brazil. The art and story seems to be very unique so far and it seems like Hatchin will soon kick ass like her mother, Michiko. Yet another series I've added to my "currently watching" list, great anime so far ^^

The relationship is weird. I mean the girl is 9, her dad died 11 years ago, and Michiko is her Mom, but she has been incarcerated for 12 years. Whats up with that? You wouldn't think that the guy could have a 9 year old daughter, much less that she could have one after being locked up forever. Really hoping episode 3 clears up some of the confusion.

Definitely a great episode 2 though. I couldn't wait for the subs, and just watched the raws. Gonna do the same again this week too. Is just too good not to.

Subs are out for the second episode. They have been for a few good hours now.

Yeah I know, I downloaded and watched it again, with the subs this time. They help. But for me anyway, not absolutely necessary.

Well, a fictionalized version of it, anyway.

GREAT second episode. Hope they keep up the cool.

In episode 1 I could have sworn she did. When Michiko is talking on the phone with the stepmother. Haha generally is used to refer to mother. And while Michiko doesn't say Haha exactly, she says something so similar that I took it to mean she was saying she was her mother. Although admittedly my Japanese isn't the best so of course she could be meaning something else.

she has not told Hatchin directly that she is her mother. She told that to the stepmother, which could have been a lie for all we know. Like I said, until Michiko tells Hatchin directly some people won't believe it.
