Yes, I'm going to nitpick about people who keep comparing Louise/Shana and Taiga. Really got tired about it.
I'm not saying it was deliberate or anything, but whether or not the intention exists doesn't change the similarities the two share. And I was indeed referring to Ryuuji when I said that; Louise didn't really treat anyone other than Saito as a dog either.

And it technically was 3x Urusai, with the first briefly interrupted by a slight gasp from Ryuuji.

Midori no Tsukaima. Heh.

From what people have said, this story gets more serious later in the novels and I hope JC Staff doesn't screw it up. I'm one of those people still bitter about what JC Staff did to ZnT Volume 8. Grrr....

Aye, even with just the first episode - I sense the story has all the earmarks of turning serious later. That isn't a bad thing as long as it restrains the melodrama level. Many of my most favorite anime had serious turns after getting you to like the characters via humor.

I prefer it to be serious later on. Afterall, romance is not meant to be taken too lightly. Introduction and readjustment due to character dissonance between 2 bound to create comedic situations, but when 2 gets very knowledgeable of each other and intimate over long periods of time, it has to be something serious. From the novels, Taiga and Ryuji got to know each other very well.

But I can see that anime most probably will not go this way. Main crowd of Tora Dora wanted more comedy, not serious romance story.

Depends on your "serious." I definitely do not want annoying melodrama; but significant character development, poignant scenes, Honey & Cloveresque balancing of the blushes and the lol's?

Why not?

If you can get some solid romance and some laughs along the way I'm fine with that. Like it when a series can kick in the seriousness when it counts, but not get buried in it. After only one episode at least I know there will be some smiles left on my face along the way.

Tomorrow we should finally have the OP.

I'm looking forward to hearing the whole thing, the snippet from the teaser was nice.

I liked it. I used to not like romance/comedy type animes until I saw Lovely Complex. Now I watch all I can get. >_>

There's so many good shows out and coming out this season I have to write them all down because I don't remember Japanese names too well, lol.

To name a few that I'm watching:

Casshern Sins
To Aru Majutsu No Index
Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka
Kuro Shitsuji
Kannagi
Hyakko
Tales of the Abyss

Plenty more new ones I didn't mention or they haven't aired yet. Let's not forget ongoing ones such as Naruto, Bleach, Gundam 00, etc.

My god I need a bigger hard drive.

Haven't watched it yet but people talk about it. I will probably watch the first season soon to see how it is.

I dunno, the story isn't that complex for Clannad is it? I wouldn't recommend it but you could probably get by.

*cough* Clannad is cool but this is the Toradora thread, there's a whole forum for Clannad chatter.

I've watched the first ep of Toradora 3 times now.... its highly rewatchable and kind of nice to catch the subtle acting.

heh!!!! No.... but I'm already starting to prune my list of things to watch.

This first ep was unusually rewatchable (compared to, say, Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka which took some strength to get through one view) but I was showing it to some peoples the third time.

Kannagi also meets the rewatch test. Hyakko .... not very rewatchable but I'll give it a few eps.

I think the thing that makes the episode so rewatchable is actually Rie's voice even if quite a few people here still dislike it for being too similar to previous roles. It's much deeper and more mature here even if she did slip a few times. And yeah, Inko-Chan was really really funny.

I find Kannagi more rewatchable than Toradora. Kannagi's animation is beyond Toradora's level after all.

Well again, Nagi is much less annoying than Taiga too.

Just watched the second part of the episode (Didn't catch the first 11 or so minutes).

I like Ryuuji a lot now, but I don't know why . Also, Taiga was just too moe in the last scene .

Next episode: Original material?
