Bodily fluids are exchanged during sex, whether you want it to or not - there's not only the love juices themselves, but like you also pointed out, respiratory droplets and other things like saliva, etc. So, yeah, I maintain my position (and feel strongly backed by some familiar medical knowledge) that a disease communicable via bodily fluids has a very high chance of being transmitted while one's having sex with an infected person. Be it trough something like sperm, the female bliss equivalent or otherwise.

I really don't see why you're so against this.

Also, we're hijacking the thread...
Well, I'm interested what Swampy has to say about this.

Also, what's up with the breastfeeding? What has that to do with Sheryl?

I think we just made this thread into a quasi-health course mixed with softcore porn... ... ...

Its like seeing a Volvo with a gunrack, you don't see a lot of those...

Personally I don't see why this situation is so difficult to comprehend. They had sex, bodily fluids were exchanged, otherwise how else was Alto able to communicate via fold-waves in episode 25?

I don't mean to further hijack this thread but wasn't Sheryl's earring the reason Alto could communicate with fold waves?

Even way back in episode 7 Alto was able to hear Sheryl and Ranka's singing and he had one of the earrings back then as well.

That is, unless you're referring to another incident

Mostly I just wanna hear from Swampy more about that WNV disease. And I wanna hear why Beto came up with breastfeeding in the first place. It sounds kinkily like some fetish.

It's just one of the documented ways in which WNV can be communicated to a healthy person. A very intimate one, no more no less. It was simply an example used to illustrate that all kinds of close personal contact can lead to infection - obviously, those would include something like having sex.

Hey, don't believe me, I don't really mind. I also can't really see why it should matter, either way.

More pics, less off-topic.

If you feel that the v-type disease discussion deserves its own topic, someone write a suitable open and post it in the request new thread thread and I'll create it.

By "bad example," you seem to be implying that WNV is an STI because it can be transmitted by means of breast milk. Strictly speaking, this point is relevant to the present discussion only if a) the woman in question is currently producing breast milk and b) her partner insists on drinking it. If this strikes your fancy as a requisite part of sexual intercourse, then by all means, feel free to call it an "STI".

My main point, somewhere in my first post on the subject, was that you can't think of "bodily fluids" as a collective entity. A pathogen can be present in one or more of those "bodily fluids", and yet not be present in every "bodily fluid".

I'm not really out to fight anyone over the matter. I'm just unclear on why people are intent on treating the V-virus as an STI when, to the best of my knowledge, the story itself did not make any such claim.

Moving the disease discussion here (although again, it shouldn't really be a discussion. Medical fact is medical fact, and the terminology is quite exacting).

That's a beautiful cover.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sheryl's drawn by Mikimoto here...right?

Whoa...is that Misa looking sexy? Plus you can't go wrong with Endo and Nakajma. FTW.
